...
Still have not received card
...Thanks
Keep at Velocity.

It does not matter if it is "on HHonors' side" - get someone at Velocity to follow it up.

I had a "Why is it so Hard" thread with similar to you plus a few emails from Hilton saying go to Velocity and Velocity telling me to go to Hilton.

Eventually I posted my own thread, AFF VelocityFFer asked me to send him/her a PM with details and it was fixed almost overnight.

So again, I wonder, why is it so hard?

Rang velocity 3 times - essentially told its on HHonors side
Still have not received card

Thanks

I opted in for Hilton Hhonors Gold back in March (I'd had Blue HH status for a couple of years, so already had an existing membership, although never received a card). Didn't hear anything for a month, so emailed Velocity via the feedback form on the website, received a reply a couple of days later apologising for the delay and advising they had forwarded my information to HH to follow up on my membership status. Later that evening, I was very surprised to receive an email from HH congratulating me on my upgrade to Gold status, so don't know what the hold-up was, but obviously the update to Gold status wasn't processed until Velocity contacted them.

That was back in April, and I've never received a card either - according to their FAQs if you join up to HH by phone, they send the card etc out within 4 weeks. However if you join through one of the hotels or online, you have to complete 2 stays at a Hilton hotel before a card is sent out:

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE A NEW HHONORS MEMBERSHIP CARD?
If you enroll using the brochure from a hotel
Please keep the paper copy of your HHonors number from your enrollment brochure, and use that number when making reservations. After you complete a second stay at a hotel within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, you will receive a membership card and welcome materials within 4–6 weeks.

If you enroll while making a reservation over the phone
You will receive your HHonors number during your call with Hilton Reservations and Customer Care. Expect to receive your membership card and welcome materials within 4 weeks.

If you enroll online
Upon submitting the required information online, you will receive your HHonors number. After you complete a second stay at a hotel within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, you will receive a membership card and welcome materials within 4 weeks.

I won't be doing any Hilton stays until I visit the US next year, so it sounds like the card will be waiting for me at home when I get back! Not a lot of use by then. I even tried using the "Request a Replacement Card" option on their website, but that hasn't worked either, still no card.

I thought they were cutting back on cards; you can log in and request that one is sent to you.

I've tried that - twice - since April but never received a card.

ETA: Have just logged in and requested again, will see if anything turns up this time (not holding my breath though).

I had a diamond card delivered - always handed it over the counter at check-in and it was always quickly returned with a polite request for my passport and credit card so I stopped carrying it.

Actually the warmest welcome I've had in a HH property was at Conrad Bali as a lowly silver with no card at all!

Apologies if this has been asked/answered previously - I searched and couldn't see anything.

I previously used the once off Diamond benefit when it first came out. I recently soft landed to Gold but will return to WP in January. I currently have access to the unused HHonors Gold benefit option but I'm already Diamond through to end of March 2017.

When I get back to WP, will my once off Gold benefit disappear if not used and be replaced with an already used WP benefit?

Funny you say that. When I was gold with Virgin the cabin crew always used to great me warmly and 'welcome me back'. Ever since I've become platinum that has stopped and they just direct me to my seat....weird....

Unlikely ... there were some "interesting" things happening in tbe early days but those seem to have been fixed.

Unlikely that the Gold benefit will disappear?

I know there will not be a second bite of Diamond when I get back to WP (alas), but I do want to use the HH Gold/SG benefit in the New Year.

Assuming that I will be WP sometime in Jan, should I activate the Gold benefit at the start of Jan - even though I'm still HH Diamond to the end of March? Does that even work?

For HH status expiry, does it matter if you go in Jan or April?

I was referring to WP ...

This benefit has been tough enough to activate - I can't begin to imagine how HHonors would treat a gold request for some who is Diamond.

You could give it a go ... Worst case is you could lose 11 months of IHG gold.

Yes, in the interest of Science and the betterment of travel experiences, I'll launch the SG HH benefit the day before the flight that will return me to WP (probably mid Jan). Come Early Apr I'll see what happened over at HH and report back! Possibly after a phone call to VA....

Hilton have funny annual markers .. get it a month wrong and you miss a full year of Bennies. :D

Can you explain? I read in this thread that you should request by January to get the maximum benefit length. That is what I was planning to do. The first month of the year doesn't seem like a 'funny annual marker', it's probably the most typical. So, is the information here wrong?

No, you have it right.

If not diamond and invoke the benefit in December than have it for 15 months - do it in January and have it for at least 26 months.

In a lot of cases the LAST flight is not the cheapest. First fallacy that is be quoted as Holy Writ above pretty often. :D

FIRST flight of day mostly yes, but not always the LAST one.

I fly to ADL a lot and SYD-ADL has only a few direct flights a day. Early afternoon is often lower cost than last flight as biz guys have meetings and fly home after them.

2 weeks back we were booked on the LAST Monday flight - about 6pm.

As out work was done I'd have PREFERRED to have got onto the 2.30pm or whatever it was, but due to this silly rule did not bother asking or getting there early.

Get to airport about 4.30pm to be advised the LAST flight was delayed for 2 hours due to SYD storms. GREAT.

Asked if we might possibly re-route and agent was happy to look. Getting to BNE at 9pm meant we missed last flight to SYD. Same with CBR. And the only MEL flight that would get us there before last Sydney flight had just closed at gate.

Arrived near midnight in Sydney.

2.30pm flight was lightly booked as I asked.

I think we can take it as read that when people book the last flight of the day because they find it cheap, it's probably cheap.

Nice RANDOM use of capiTAl letters, by the way.

I agree. Many times the last flight is not the cheapest, but have you posted this in the correct thread? It's a genuine comment that many have griped about, but I don't think it relates to the HH status match benefit.

Wait so this is quite interesting if I have read it correctly, I have a Diamond benefit sitting waiting to be triggered (sitting on it for now as I will just miss out retaining Gold this year) so if I opt in to the benefit in January it somehow runs for 26 months?? What's the mechanics behind this??

I think it is so you get a full 12 month membership by calendar year to maintain your status level.

Membership is by calendar year for earning and drops each year at the end of march the following year. So starting a status in mid january is not a full year , so you get to wait till the following year ( to earn your status) , then ends in march the following year unless you earnt status in the second year which you will keep after march of the third year.

Hopefully this will not confuse you as it has confused me trying to reread it and if it is incorrect someone will correct it or be as confused as me and like a piece of art work will think it is brilliant or not.
