Hilton discontinues Points & Fixed miles

HH have finally updated their website to show QF as 1 QF FF per US dollar and VA as 2 velocity points per US dollar.

So I always used to use Points & Miles (Fixed) for short stays, and Points and Points for long (over 3-4 nights, depending on rate) stays.
What are people's thoughts now? I am thinking 2 VA points per USD isn't too had a deal, and is worth more to me than an extra 5 Hilton points - mainly because I can use small amounts of VA points easily (upgrades, domestic reward bookings when prices are high) but I cannot use small amounts of Hilton Hhonors points easily.

Does anyone know how long it takes Hilton's Airline miles to come through? A stay about two weeks ago lists the Virgin points in the Hilton site, but they don't show up at Virgin Velocity yet.

Might be worth contacting one or both of them. Usually for me they take less than five days; mostly the next day.

While I'm glad VA/QF are now accepted under the variable miles option, I've done the math and it really presents bad value for me.

The old arrangement would see me getting at least 20,000 VA points per year (20 stays). But now, at 2x points per USD, I'd probably only get 10,000 VA points max. I actually think the 50% bonus HHonors points is a better option for me. For now...

Going by your rough sums, 10k VA points would have come from spending USD 5000 for the year (about USD 250 per stay), which means you would earn 50k HH points in the process. Another 25k would be forthcoming if you chose Points+Points rather than Points+Miles.

For most properties in the world which people would likely want to use HH points for instead of handing over cash, you could wipe out 75k easily within a night (or not quite enough) as a full-points reward booking.

I don't know much about rewarding bookings with Hilton (I've only ever used it once), but 1 night in a nicer hotel or a few in a downmarket hotel still seems to be better value than earning VA points. Because I fly on industry rates I do not receive any points/status credits. Therefore, just 10,000 VA points a year isn't enough to really book anything besides upgrades or cash + points.

I've now got two stays with zero VA points credited. The Hhonors site shows they have been earned, but they've never arrived in my Velocity account. I've followed up both - Hilton say they've sent them, but Velocity say nothing (other than asking for my details, again). Is anyone else having the same issue?

In my single stay with VA as my choice, it took 4 months and 2 or 3 pms to the rep here to have my points credit properly. The emails I sent were never answered.

The issue was resolved for me, and supposedly resolved for everyone.
I'll see if my next stay credits automatically.
