we used 1 cert at Hong Kong Conrad by booking directly to hotel - already had a 3 day stay booked and wanted to extend it by a day - quick and easy - no issue

Can I ask what you mean by booking directly? Did you just call the Conrad Hong Kong hotel? I'm having heaps of difficulty booking the rewards night with Conrad Tokyo. So any advice or feedback would help heaps.

I'm not sure what drross did, but I called the number to redeem the rewards certificate 1-800-4HONORS. You can see if the hotel has room available to be redeemed with certificate by using the "use points" option on the hilton website. It has to be a "Standard Room Rewards". Don't forget its only for Fri-Sun nights.

Unfortunately I don't have points to be able to see if the room is a standard or not. The thing that's causing me a lot of headache is that the people on the online chat claims there's standard room available for the day that I want but calling up, the CS officer claims there's no standard room available. A few people have this same issue both here in AFF and Ozbargain.

Isn't the King Room Bay View a standard room?

King City View is showing as the Standard Room Reward.

Availability is showing for 20/04/18.

Well I can confirm there was no issue with my Sat night stay using my voucher at DoubleTree Melbourne Flinders Street.

You shouldn't need points to check availability. Try searching when you are not logged in and use the flexible dates option.

However as it is sakura season I don't like your chances getting any standard room availability now.

Standard rooms seem to have been blacked out for a while. I just checked and no standard award between 24/3/18 to 15/4/18.

Exactly. People just need to know what is a standard room at a particular hotel, and then see if there is availability on their dates.

Just used my free night certificate for the Conrad Tokyo for December. Called 1-800-4HONORS and was connected to booking agent that was able to get the whole done in about 5 minutes, it was a pretty painless experience.

To the existing cardholders,
Ive just received a 2nd reward certificate which is very strange but a pleasant surprise.
So my renewal was feb 2017,
-received renewal reward certificate
- called to cancel card, was offered reduce rate (half)
-spent around 15k on card since and recieved another reward certificate.

I dont remember getting two last year when using the same strategy(spent 40k instead for diamond), so may be worth while hitting the 12k spend as you may get a 2nd reward ceritifcate.
