Hilton properties in Kuala Lumpur

Checkout the food court on the lower basement levels during the weekdays, it has great cheap options for lunch. There is also an ATM and money changer on the first basement level, use the escalators near Dome.

Sadly I've been busy working daytimes and the food court looks all wrapped up by my return . Which is odd for Malaysia, as they do like to eat at odd times..

Now sitting at the Cellar Door enjoying a Hoegaarden...which is much easier to get across Asia than at home..seems to be a lot of flight crews around here...

Got four nights at the DoubleTree Hilton KL next week. Looking forward to it again.

I've stayed at both and found the DT to be more of a 'hilton' experience than the hilton was - service exceptional and location really good. I tend not to take trains, taxi or walk is my style so DT's location versus hilton was a real winner.

I'm heading back to KL near Christmas and I doubt I'll even bother looking at the hilton - aside from its proximity to the train the location is terrible in my view, nothing close to do or see.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Status: Diamond
Property: Doubletree Kuala Lumpur
Dates: October 2013
Booked: King Guestroom
Rate: 4000 points + MYR122 (about A$40)
Received: King Executive Suite

IMHO this property must be the best value points redemption available, especially for a HHonors Diamond. It returns at least one cent per point. See my next post for pictures of what I recieved for my $40 and 4000 points.

Here are some pictures of the suite I received at Doubletree KL.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

It is excellent Jessica. The upgrades are great, early checkin, late checkout, great staff, lovely cookies. I love the exec lounge here. Free booze is from 17:30 to 19:30, so don't be late! The deserts are amazing. No bacon for brekkie though, well, not made out of pigs anyway. They do have turkey bacon though.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Thanks froggerADL. It looks good. You have just lifted my expectations!
I hope I haven't raised them too high. Even if you don't get a suite the rooms are very nice, as is everything else about this property, especially for the price. I find it very easy to drink my room rate here .

Checkout the food court on one of the basement levels at Lunch, some great cheap local options. From memory it's two floors down from Dome, chemist and ATM on first floor.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Thanks FroggerADL, I've been deciding between the DT & Hilton but looks like I'll settle with the DT, room doesnt look bad as well as the location near the KLCC. :)

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

The DT is one of the nice quirks in the Hilton reward system at 10000 points per night, good value, and the NOR1 upgrades are interesting on that rate:

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Ok, I'm now booked arriving into KUL from PEN on MH on a Thursday, scheduled 6:35pm so will jump on the Train straight to the Hilton for the evening.

Home - KLIA Ekspres

Any tips on optimising my travel time? Which end of train?

Fastest walk to Hilton from KL Sentral?

What time do the Hilton E/L evening canape/drinks session run? :D

Next day I have booked the DT and can move across at my leisure.

The escalator up from the arrival platform to the street level at Sentral is about the middle of the train. I suggest fastest way up the escalator is to be just to the rear of the middle. The front of the train will mean walking back along the platform and doing a U-Turn onto the escalator which gets congested.
Fastest walk to Hilton from KL Sentral?
Hmm, its been a while for me, but I'll try to describe. Up the escalator and through the "turn-styles" with your ticket. Keep to the left of the taxi booths and follow the corridor around to the left between shops that eventually brings you into the main Sentral area where there are shops, food court and escalators to platforms for the various trains (up and down to the left and right). When you enter this area, turn left and walk straight towards the two escalators that lead up to the road with teksi queues. Exit and cross that road towards the car park where you find a lift that takes you up to the foyer level of the Hilton and Le Meridian. Just follow the signs with the Hilton being the corridor to the left when you exit the lift area. The walk takes about 10 mins and is fairly well sign posted once you get beyond the main train arrival cattle yard near the teksi booths.

Hilton does also have a shuttle service, so check as you exit the train as there may be a Hilton shuttle driver there with a sign and they will be glad to drive you around the block to the hotel foyer.

An easier way is to take the exit to the right after the turnstiles, go outside and turn left and follow the building to it ends, across the road is the Le Merid and Hiltons, but watch the crossing, red does not mean stop for the traffic.
