Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

An easier way is to take the exit to the right after the turnstiles, go outside and turn left and follow the building to it ends, across the road is the Le Merid and Hiltons, but watch the crossing, red does not mean stop for the traffic.
Hmm, my recollection would have suggested turning right after going outside, not left???

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Ok, I'm now booked arriving into KUL from PEN on MH on a Thursday, scheduled 6:35pm so will jump on the Train straight to the Hilton for the evening....

What time do the Hilton E/L evening canape/drinks session run? :D
The canapes go from 6-8 or 830pm...can't remember 100%, but I think the latter; the Hilton KL always tops up the food, and there is more than enough for dinner if you don't want to go out again. If you don't have checked luggage, with a 635pm arrival, I expect you to arrive at the hotel before 8 pm.

For the first timer, getting from KL Sentral to the Hilton can be confusing.....a simple way is to follow the signs to the public taxi stand, cross the road (be careful as cars and motorcycles don't often stop on the red), and enter the Hilton / Le Meridien foyer, then take the lift up to the ground level, then follow the signs to the Hilton. On occasions (in fact not very often), the Hilton shuttle will greet the train, and drive you to the hotel.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Whilst on the subject of directions, KUL to DT looks like 2 trains or a taxi. The DT website suggests 70 MYR for the train to Central and then connect to Ampang Park or 80 MYR for a taxi (voucher) from KUL. I will be getting in about 0830 so I will have plenty of time to get to the hotel if there are any other suggestions.

Train to Sentral is 35 MYR, then the LRT is around 3 MYR or so but will confirm in a few hours as I am at the DT tonight, 10000 HH points for a room was hard to ignore.

Thanks for the information - since I'm coming in on a Domestic flight I am hoping to be chcking in around 7:30pm.

Turn Left/Turn Right? Intersting.

KLIA to Kuala Lumpur Hilton - Google Maps

Its turn right outside if you follow the signs and go through the narrow corridor:

Its turn left if you take my shortcut via the arrivals area, basically you are walking towards the Hilton as you go through the Express train turnstiles.

Thanks. Maybe DT are quoting a return trip on the train?

I agree with the points price ATM. I think I am paying 4,000 + 100 MYR a night.

I would not be surprised, I normally buy a return for that amount.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

The escalator up from the arrival platform to the street level at Sentral is about the middle of the train. I suggest fastest way up the escalator is to be just to the rear of the middle. The front of the train will mean walking back along the platform and doing a U-Turn onto the escalator which gets congested.

If you take the fourth door from the front of the train you will get the exit that takes you straight to the escalator. Another tip is to exit the arrivals area to the left at KLIA and take the furthest lifts away from the front of the building down to level 1 where the end of the train is. Be aware there are four lifts either side, the ones on your right on exiting customs etc get very busy, while both sets of four lifts only allow access to the KLIA express from two closest to customs (well signposted), waiting for the lifts you are effectively above the train lines of the KLIA transit line.

More good information - I won't be exiting customs (Flying in from PEN) so does this info still hold?

Domestic Arrivals are to the left of the international arrivals as you come into the building, in that case best option is the escalator as the quiet lifts are at the other end (probably explains why the busy lifts are busier)!

Another tip is to get the MyRapid card at Sentrals LRT ticket booth, its MYR20 with MYR10 of value on the card and is a lot quicker than the single use tokens, which cannot be bought days in advance (same day use). The monorail is fun but crowded compared to the LRT, buses, LRT and monorail all use myrapid (and quicker then Myki).

Also the but touch'n'go card that has broader uses (eg. On the heavy rail line and some carparks). Office in Sentral behind food court.

Crazy that there are two systems and not much info about them for tourists.

Assuming you are flying into klia and not into the lcct terminal (ie Air Asia). If on Air Asia better getting the bus into Sentral for a few dollars

The actual LRT fare on the card is MYR2 to Ampang Park, when leaving the station take the escalators closest to the ticket office on your left, once upstairs its a short walk to the overpass escalators leading you to the DT, all covered.

The DT keeps getting better and better, firstly the food court is still there in the basement including my favourite chicken rice for $2

Its a good lunch option, however there is now a supermarket with its own food court, as well as selling alcohol, which explains the stickers on the mini bar beer. Do your self a favor and check it out, even if you are not after some drinks, as it has some interesting stalls including a boutique spirit/vinegar vendor:

Other food options:

There is also a good pharmac_ a level up:

I mentioned recently that the Yering seemed to be in a smaller bottle as it seems to go quickly, is Malaysia they even call it it little!

The supermarket and its food court are open 10AM to 10PM.

Evening drinks in the lounge from 1730.
