CX is showing an MH A380 codeshare on the 8th (KUL-HKG), but not bookable into F.

I suspect the CX booking engine is actually incorrect, I've seen the CX booking engine have incorrect aircraft type after a equipment change even on CX's own metal in the past.

Ok, im a definite starter, As a team player ill take the smack in the chops and fly QF so at least one of us does ;) Ill post flights once booked.

Where is everyone staying? (for those that are staying?) I normally stay at the W, but im open to suggestions.

Perhaps you had better read this thread so you know what is ahead! ;)

Lounge hopping is the point :)

I haven't researched it yet but I think someone said there's 9 or 10 lounges.

There is some info here. Flight Information - Airline Information - Airline Lounges - Hong Kong International Airport

QF J
QF F
The Bridge
The Cabin
The Pier
The Wing J
The Wing F
G16

That makes 8, but I may have missed some permutations of lounges and access, e.g. QF J and F are 2 different lounges.

With any luck the qf f renovations will be complete and the new combined j and f lounge open for us (they have banners up in the SYD F lounge spruiking an early 2014 opening date).

It's on my bucket list as the only hkg lounge I haven't been in (apart from skyteam and hk airlines which don't count. .)

Flights booked:

7 Jun 1000 QF35 MEL
7 Jun 1755 QF4238 SIN (JQ codeshare)
8 Jun 0925 CX720 KUL arrive 1320
8 Jun 2020 CX791 HKG
9 Jun 1740 QF4237 KUL (JQ codeshare)
9 Jun 2020 QF82 SIN
9 Jun 0745 QF413 SYD

I will likely be on CX715 to SIN at 2025 on the 8th - the QF premium fares ex-SIN to Aus are very good at present!

Looks like I will be leaving KTM around the 8th to spend a few days in SIN so I just have to firm up the dates and route through HKG.
This could all be quite doable. :)

MH employ the "Plaza Premium" lounge near gate 1.

Being a contact lounge i'm not sure if access is available although I would not waste my time.

I am thinking of staying in KUL on the 7th/8th (with a .br fare) and commuting with CX/MH. Still investigating.
I will more than likely stay in KUL the night of 07 June.

Looking at HKG hotel prices makes me shudder when I see an AUD40-50 hotel such as Rambler going for $AUD100+. I can stay in the Hilton in KUL for the same sort of price.

Backpackers? No thanks. Much better to spend some time on the seats in HKG airport. ;)

There are also the Bridal tea houses but those hotel rates are also ridiculous.

Not sure if you have previously but probably worth looking at staying in shenzhen for substantially better rates in 5 star properties

That is a good idea and one I have thought about in the past. Do I need visa for <24 hours?
