I suppose I could always go HKG-MEL-SYD and game an extra 10 status credits and 1000 QFF points for my $4k flight in Y.

Just in case you haven't realised (maybe you have and are joking, I can't tell) - I suspect the $4K is HKD not AUD.

I was joking about the 10 SC etc but you are right actually, I had another look and hadn't seen the small print at the top left corner saying the price was in HKD. I might just open mouth and change feet.

I am definitely going.

The difficult decision is whether to travel in economy and bring along a friend or other option is me in business class and friend in economy. And then if I bring along a friend would be best if we stayed 2 nights and spend some time exploring Victoria Harbour, cable car etc.

Or I can just go on my own in business class.

I have a friend coming and he is in W on 127/128 and I am in J both with upgrades in mine to F his to J I like to fly by myself lol and if his upgrade come sin I can go upstairs for a drink.

I generally like to fly by myself as well but thought this time could be a good idea to bring my friend along. She has never been out of Thailand.

That would be nice we are doing HKG BKK HKG in J with CX. Which is around $700 return in J, it should be cheaper from BKK HKG BKK or even fly EK its an A380 as you would be aware.

Actually it is not cheaper from BKK. Business class airfare is ~25,000THB which is closer to ~AUD900. Airfare for 2 in economy in L class (QFF earning) is ~24,000THB on CX, ~20,000THB on RJ but that means Saturday in and Sunday out.

Cannot consider Emirates as that would mean no Oneworld lounge access in HKG.

I'll check. Both options are online awards. Hard enough getting QF to even show CX flights, so I'm not sure.

I am at HH DT KUL that night and the prices weren't too bad when i booked. I am heading from KUL to HKG on CX720 (0925-1320).

The MH connection lands at about 1500 iirc. I do like the idea of dinner in the SYD first lounge.
