HKG new lounge open

the best part of the QF lounge is the proximity to the "Express Lane"* that leads directly to The Wing ;)

I'm looking forward to trying out the Wing F now that I qualify for entry. Don't have my next HKG trip booked yet but something tells me it is not too far away :).

Why would you be travelling in the opposite direction?
It's the fastest way to go from the Wing F back to high-teens gates.

I guess for most of us, the QF lounge wouldn't be anywhere near as good as a dedicated F lounge, but I suppose it works for those who only have access to J lounges.

Sitting here at the moment... Underwhelmed doesn't describe it. Sat for 10 minutes in the "restaurant" waiting to be served. Nothing. Got up and poured my own wine. Sat for another 10 minutes. Nothing. Eventually flagged someone down and asked to be served the one and only available dish (which was poor). Staff are seemingly very selective with who they provide service to. Apparently a petty WP doesn't get much.

Just arrived back in Melbourne from Honkers where I had a tad over 3hrs to kill for connecting flight. Checked out the new QF lounge and must say I too was underwhelmed overall. Didn't seem to be much happening. Went back over to The Wing F lounge, checked out the Cabana, had dinner in The Haven with a couple of glasses of Dalmotte. Overall I felt a much better experience.

All I can say is Pia Miller makes it look at lot better than it really is. No reason for any WP to be there when The Wing F lounge is not far away.

Is the restaurant area supposed to be reserved from cl and wp1 members? We sat there and when we asked a passing attendant if it was ok if we sat there (all tables had reserved signs on them) we were asked if we were wp1 or cl. We replied we are wp and were told it would be ok 'this time' as the lounge was quiet. Was a bit surprised that we can access the f lounge but can't use the restaurant area in a shared j/f lounge? Doesn't seem right.

Never been to the QF HKG lounge but CX F lounge gets rather boring after the third visit....

I found it odd that all the tables were "Reserved" - I'm no longer WP, so haven't been to a First lounge in a while. As it was a J/F lounge, I guess I could have asked to sit at one of them, but wasn't sure so didn't actually bother to ask.

Would have made the visit more appealing for me - I was on a Visa Run, so had several hours to kill there - instead I just remained in one of the lounge chairs for the entire visit.

Didn't see the famous trolley, no did I partake of the Champagne (oops, Sparkling Wine); whiskey is my beverage of choice but their selection was so-so, so I had some beers instead.

Maybe next run in 3 months, I'll be sure to *really* live it up!!!

I'd have to disagree...its been my 'domestic' lounge since it opened and is always appreciated prior to an intra Asia cattle class flight in the repurposed cx shell seats! (assuming no op up of course!)

And what would have been the simple solution? To throw up one wall and have a separate room with 'Private' on the door for use by P1 and CL.

But no - this way means you end up having to say 'no' to dozens of passengers every day that see the tables and want to sit there.

What is preferable service to maximise customer experience? Not having to say 'no' too many times.

QF does it again with planning that appear to lack just a little bit of foresight. If i can think if the solution in 10 seconds, why can't they?

With the size it is, they could certainly have incorporated an "F" lounge into the layout. Frosted glass, nice sliding door with a door person to greet you. Flash that sexy card, or your BP and in you go!!

Whilst it's a great size, *not* being able to take a seat at a table is a little disappointing - it's called the "Qantas Lounge" (not the Qantas F lounge), so I expect to be able to use all of the facilities, not just selected ones for those of us who aren't WP or flying F.;)

Except that WPs appear to be restricted too. It is P1, CL and F pax that get the full monty.

I wouldn't be too aggrieved, I entered as a WP flying F and wasn't offered much other than a cursory glance of my boarding pass on entry. I went to the sanctity of the CX lounge and had a lovely time.

With no F shortly I guess a WP returns to QC level in QF's eyes.

That's why I suggested 'Private' on the frosted door rather than 'First'. Too many pesky platinums! :D

Hehehe. Sounds like the "secret Squirrel" entrance to the same in Sydney? (My memory could be off - only ever seen it sliding closed, but figured it was a CL lounge.)
