Home delivery of QF Magazine during COVID-19

The May edition has landed in my mail box today combined with a brochure on Points Club

Is there anything in it alluding to the virus effect on travel, or Qantas having to almost shut itself down?

I guess a certain percentage of May was already complete, such that it made more sense to fill in the blanks and publish it than skip until a future time. I wonder what the lead time for the stories is and how far ahead they have content to keep publishing?

On my limited experience, mags like this which are nearly all 'fluff' & ads would be booked months ahead, with advertising etc, and only something like the 'CEO's report' or similar left to late in the production schedule. If it is/was printed overseas, it might be finished a month at least ahead of the masthead date. If the May edition has anything on the virus or Qantas shutting down, that will give an idea of when it was sent to printers.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but not being onboard a QF flight at least every month usually, yet generally enjoying the content they produce I would love to be included in the circulation and would even consider a subscription. I find it a shame they don't do this, and right now are clearly just sending it out to their most loyal/frequent flyers, but they might not be usual readers of the magazine in the first place.

I haven't looked at it for a while but I used to have an app on my ipad that I could read the Qantas magazine. If you can't find it by googling let me know and I'll check out how I see it

Question:
Are the inflight magazines free to keep for passengers?
Yes, and you can often find them at airport gates/lounges too, but it would be a bit of a trek to pickup a copy once a month (when not flying).

Just like an old book, there's something special about having a physical copy. While I realise my bookshelf behind me could simply hold an iPad and every book in the world, I do quite like to have physical specimens sometimes.

There is some Covid content but as you point out it is in the editors and ceo pieces. One notable change is the network map and flying specific content from the end of the mag has been omitted

I'd really love to know how they've decided who to send them to. I've flown QF every month up to and including March so it's not like I've been AWOL. this isn't a gripe or anything.. just funny that it seems ... dare I say it.. oh OK I will since I have not written it for awhile... inconsistent! :D

But this is a nice enhancement for some...

I’m feeling a bit special with QF
Spoilt Princess today 🤩😂😂

Received QF love today and still couldn’t figure out why until I found this chat.
Not sure if it’s the flying or Plus status that triggered this.

2x WP/LTG in the house. Zero magazines received.

Oh well, this just prompted me to download it on PressReader. Something to read over a bottle of red from QF Wines...

Got mine on Friday.

Really lovely way of keeping in touch and smart too, making lists of where I want to go when it’s safe and will most probably be with QF!

Has anyone in WA received one?

Mail is incredibly slow to get here these days. I'm talking about two weeks from Adelaide and three from Victoria.

I ordered a small item, paid express post, from 15km away Friday week ago (8days). Aussie Post still can't quote me a delivery date

AP is feeling the pinch of the lack of domestic cargo capacity due to massively reduced flying, and the ban on overtime within AP itself (I am not sure exactly what that is all about but it is having an effect).

Just last Friday May 1 I received a letter dated April 6 (and well my QF wine purchase spent 2+ weeks in NSW and only seems to have made it into Victoria in the past 24 hours or so lol).

So suspect things like magazines and the just as likely to be delayed for some. Still not holding my breath to get a mag lol

If I don’t receive a copy, then I can blame Australia Post. At least that will make me feel better. 🤣

Through PressReader courtesy of a local library in London, I auto download the monthly QF magazines 👍

QF mag is “Free” on PressReader - so you can download anywhere.

well bugger me my wine showed up today - SUNDAY. Had no idea AP were doing Parcel deliveries on sundays now. Obviously they said they were "just a bit busy" lol. I'll drink to that!
