I tend to avoid yum cha, as it can be challenging to find a range of vego options. Especially ones that don't contain prawns.

I am afraid I like Yum Cha for exactly the opposite reasons !! Looks like Aeolus and I could be part of a break away lunch group.

I'm a maybe. Just finalising whether I can make it over for this, and if I do, I won't be in HKG until early afternoon, after a pretty long flight.

Ok, now confirmed. Don't arrive into HKG until around 16.40 on the Saturday, so won't be available for dinner until around 18:30 at the earliest.

(Planning on staying at HIX Hong Kong SOHO, but that's subject to change if I find something better )

For those of you living on the edge - hotelquickly (the app) is ALWAYS cheaper than every other hotel in HKG. Catch is - you can't access the low rate until the day of arrival. Beats the **** out of most hotel loyalty programs if you're not chained to them ;)

Anyone staying near the airport?

Gold Coast HKG resort. So in a word - no.

For most flights, the only early check-in available is at the airport express train - Hong Kong station or Kowloon station (NOT Tsing Yi), so you most definitely don't want to be staying near the airport.

I live near the airport in HKG, so wondered if anyone else was out this way.
In fact as I look out the bedroom window I see planes taking off.

Have we decided where to go yet? Last lounge run, we went to Sai Kung but it was a good 40 mins journey each way but there was a bit of sightseeing involved so that was ok. I haven't booked any accom yet (wishful thinking, hoping Conrad would drop its rate) so I'm quite Flexi in terms of dinner venue.

Btw, anyone up for yum cha lunch on 11th? I'm dying to try that noisy crowded yum Cha place.

Is Kowloon East close to airport?

By the way are we going to see you Saturday night?

I gather you're staying at the Crowne Plaza in Tseung Kwan O - not near the airport at all (unless you mean the old Kai Tak!)

Sai Kung was good last time but a train ride and a bus ride each way made it feel a long way out, particularly on the return.

I put my hand up in post #22. It is still up - noisy place or not !!

I am going to book Tung Po later today as it caters for all tastes, will post more details after I confirm the reservation.
