How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Does anybody here stay in brisbane regularly? Is the complimentary platinum offering for breakfast lounge, continental or full? Thanks in advance

Currently at Hilton Brisbane and breakfast can be had in the lounge or restaurant. Enquired about upgrade policy and told Diamond member will strictly get Executive room upgrade only but discounted upgrade available for suite costing around $430 additional.

That doesn't seem a very discounted price :(

I had a diamond complementary suite upgrade there earlier this year.

Diamond can have breakfast at the restaurant at no extra charge.
There is no reason to eat in the lounge, the food on offer there is very limited.

It's very rare to get upgraded to a suite in Brisbane because they only have a few and they don't like to give them away for free.

They are nice and big but don't worth the extra charge IMHO.
They don't even have jacuzzi spas which should be a standard feature at that price.

Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Received: King Executive room
Rate: $169.15 pn

I am Diamond and booked the first and last nights in my name. +1 booked the middle night. I emailed in advance and requested that all nights be linked so we could stay in the same room and this was honoured. We were given a room on the 12th floor in Tower 2 (closest to the ocean with the exec lounge on the 15th floor)

Stay/night 1 - On check-in there were 2 bottles of water in our room.
Stay/night 2 - 4 bottles of xx_X beer in an ice bucket and a welcome card were delivered to the room while we were out.
Stay/night 3 - Beer had disappeared and been replaced by 2 large bottles of water (one still, one sparkling)
:shock::shock:. There was also a basket of fruit and a welcome card. I'd like to know who 'pinched' the beer??? Our son came to visit and was going to sit on the balcony and have a beer or two with his Dad! When I questioned the girl on reception about what happened to the beer she couldn't have cared less.

I quite liked the design of the long room. However the two club chairs were not very comfy for watching TV. Also, there was no furniture on the balcony! Bathroom was large with a shower only.
The exec lounge had the usual SP food (boring) which hasn't really changed much in over a year.
We had breakfast in the restaurant each morning.
2 bottles of water were delivered each day as was a newspaper. We also received turn down each night including chocolates.

Reception staff were s l o w and disorganised. When I asked about the cost of upgrading to a one bedroom apartment I was quoted an additional $260 per night . No thanks.
Staff in the restaurant, however, were really professional and efficient.

There really is something missing at this Hilton.

i checked in today at HSP. Upon checking in was offered executive room. Politely asked if I could have a suite and the lady made a phone call and literally she said upgrade request from a real diamond. Request granted. However, the relaxation suite is nothing to rave about. It is very small and the 1.5 sweater couch is a disgraced. Out of all suites I have stayed in, I ranked the following:

1. Hilton KL Sentral
2. HSW Yarra suite
3. Conrad HK King harbor suite
4. HOTP relaxation spa suite
5. HSW relaxation suite

Hotel: Hilton Darwin
Rate: $285.00 Getaway rate
Date: 23-25 July 2013
Room booked:King Hilton
Room received: King Hilton
Others: welcome card, 1 litre water, bottle of red wine (Penfolds Bin 28).

This completes my full suite of Australian Hiltons. No upgrade as the hotel was full. The going rate in the days before was near $600 per night. Overall impression is this is a poor standard Hilton, still very much the Crowne Plaza it used to be. Hopefully it will improve in the future but there is not a great incentive if you can command those rates and be full. The room was dated and in need of refurbishment. Bathroom cramped and very dated. No view from our room other than over the town. Friendly but not particularly knowledgeable staff. Breakfast in the restaurant was included as a diamond benefit but was tired and basic -fruit under ripe etc. Second morning breakfast in the EL was limited but pleasant. Evening drinks in the lounge were wine and beer - no spirits offered or on the list. The nibbles were tasty. All up not a great experience particularly for the price. Prices in Darwin, because of supply, are through the roof when not booked in advance.

The real test will be in the wet, when all hotels struggle.

At least they gave you a bottle of Penfolds and not their usual Bay of Stones cough which is not even good enough for cooking :)

Lucky you booked in advance because 600$ per night is a huge rip off.
The most I ever payed for a city Hilton (not a resort) was 450$ in their New York flagship hotel and even then I felt its not worth it.

Rate: $174.30, Stay 3 get 30% off
Date: 16 - 23 July 2013
Room booked: Twin Hilton
Room received: Twin Executive
Others: 2 bottles of water, platter of fruit

This was my third stay at Hilton on the Park. I am a confirmed convert from HSW. Check-In with Chris was very efficient. I asked if we could have a room on the 18[SUP]th[/SUP] floor (executive lounge level) and was informed that the room type had already been allocated to us, as well that the latex pillows asked for would be provided. I was very pleased to be upgraded to an executive room as we were staying for 7 nights and some of those nights were virtually booked out. We were also allowed to take 2 guests into the lounge during the day.

This time I travelled with my daughter, so we were ineligible to receive the “Spouse stay free” bonus.

I always have breakfast in the Gallery restaurant as I have specific dietary requirements. I had rung ahead a few days before our arrival and all was in place from the first morning. Accolades to Brian and Assunta.

I love the proximity of the tram stops across the road plus the train stations a few metres further. And the views from the restaurant across to the Fitzroy Gardens.

Well done, HotP.

Standard Hilton but with excellent breakfast beside the river - good location for business and right next to the English Garden for relaxing but not near much transport for sightseeing. I did not try the Executive Lounge breakfast as it started later during the summer holidays. The evening drinks were okay but the selection of food a bit disappointing. Could have been the crowds in there given the very hot weather outside. Nothing special except for an excellent view of the city from the balcony on the 12th floor.

How old is your daughter? Normally children stay free as well when using existing bedding. If your daughter is an adult, why would HoTP know she wasn't your spouse (apart from your honesty)?

I am her mother! And a grandmother!

I don't think Hilton even attempt to classify who may or may not constitute a spouse .

Various Oz gov'ts seem to take offense at same gender arrangements but I'm pretty sure Hilton don't.........in fact I doubt they'd even notice! But I do tend to agree with you, that it is not a truly honest thing to do, but then again, neither is charging extra for someone using existing bedding IMHO.
