Seems like a win/win. No upgrade...nothing lost. Upgrade....zero cost.

I've not seen that before, but I think I recall someone else asking about it.

I am a little uneasy about our "status" benefits being perhaps replaced by Nor1 upgrades. Very easy to suddenly discontinue the Nor1 freebies once everyone is use to them!

I've had every booking (30 or so) look like that for the past year, it auto puts in a request for the next highest room @ $0. It's never stopped me getting 2, 3, 4 category upgrades either.

probably a stupid question - if i pick the room rate with double the hhonor points, does that mean i can achieve the next status level in half the time/stays?

our company now insists on bookings via carlson wagonlit - if i book via our intranet site and not hilton.com, will I receive any gold benefits?
I now have to book via AOT. I make the booking then a few days later I ring Hilton and ask them to add my HH number to the booking. I always receive all bennies including points.

that's what i thought but on my account profile it says "To maintain Gold status in 2014, you need 66,551 more points."
In that statement, "points" refers points earned on spend, not just any old points (such as status bonus or myway bonus).

So that really needs to be read as "... you need 66,551 more base points". To reiterate, base points are directly related to Spend.

What it means is that you need to spend another USD6655.10 in the next 8 weeks to maintain Gold.

In any case, your Gold status will last until the end of March.

Probably not the thread to put this on, but HH seems to have given us a few extra stays. Is anyone aware of any "nights or rooms = stays" promotions at the moment? There was around mid-year, but I'm not aware of any just now. We also did a number of room changes (1 to 2, 2 to 1, Sat nite to Fri nite, add sat nite, sat nite to sun nite etc - predominently to fit in with my daughters 20th b/day) so I'm also wondering if we just confused the computer :). Anyway, I was expecting 2 stay credits and we received 7 ......not that it means much as we've requaled diamond by stays anyway, but it just seems odd. Of course it is currently the weekend, so maybe I should wait until Monday to see if it's just one of their infamous weekend glitches!

I can also report that we forgot to combine the multi room folios and missed out on base and bonus points for the second room, so moral of the story I guess is to ensure you always combine the folios to gain the extra points.

As an upside, HSP did give us a relaxation suite + adjoining room from the base 2 x guest rooms booked. They also added the 2 big bottles of water (1 x sparkling, 1 x still) + 2 small bedside bottles of water and the bowl of fruit to both rooms and then followed that up with a bottle of wine and a card for my daughters 20th. Always a nice gesture. Can't comment on the exec lounge as we didn't have time to visit there.

I have heard of another AFFer whose number of stays are more than they expected. They were not aware of a promo, but there may have been.

Status: Gold
Property: Hilton Surfers Paradise
Date: Oct 24 - 27
Rate: $237
Room Booked: Twin Hilton Guest Room
Room Received: Executive King

Breakfast was in the lounge each day - I asked if we could go to Salt restaurant, but as Gold with an upgrade, the answer was no. The lounge has improved a lot since my last visit (posted in the Hilton Surfers Paradise thread).

There was no water each day ... but I wasn't too fussed as you can always take a bottle of water from the lounge back to your room.

Gold

I haven't stayed at the Conrad for sometime. Have they nodernised it am all? Agree about the perfect service and the UG would be to the rule book!

Sorry just saw this question!

Nope nothing has been modernised and the rooms are starting to feel a little old! Mainly the light switches and the antique control panel for the lights/ac besides the bed.

But again perfect service

OK

Another 2 stays

Status: Diamond

Property: Conrad Singapore
Date: 1 x 1 night stay, 1 x 2 night stay
Room Booked: 1 King Bed Classic
Room Received: 1 King Bed Executive (26th and 28th floor)

Even though all staff remembered me on my 3/4/5th visit over about 2 months still no better upgrade!

That being said every single staff member is just outstanding here I could not fault them at all!

Status : Diamond
Property: Hilton Parmelia Perth
Dates:15th -17th Nov
Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Rate: AAA $204 per night
Received: Queen Deluxe Plus

A little disappointed to be honest and advised the front desk that I was. It's a suite but the bed has been downgraded, fine for solo too small for a couple and also too soft. They still had multiple King beds available for booking including King Deluxe Plus. Usual high quality Diamond amenity and hand-written card in room.

Status : Gold
Property: Hilton Cairns
Dates: 8-10th Nov
Booked: Double Hilton Guestroom
Rate: AAA $170 per night
Received: Double Hilton Guestroom

No water in room, but let that slide due to being given complimentary valet parking. Breakfast was in the restaurant each day.

I cannot complain about both the Melbourne hotels
each time I usually get the relaxation suite and the clubs are wonderful.
the South Wharf is a real pleasure to stay in.
