I always put DND on my door when I go to bed and take it off when I'm leaving the room for the day. Stops the impatient cleaners :)
Ditto....also put up the DND in the evening when I don't want to be disturbed by the "turndown" service!

It's a nice idea, but I do find it also seems to leave less avenues for the property to leave gifts or the like.

Of course, you may think this trivial compared to having a room set as you like it. But generally these days unless I really don't want to be disturbed then I just make sure the valuables are packed away. But usually when I'm in the room, I have the secondary latch / chain locked into position. That seems to stop everything except a battering ram and maybe that crazy guy from The Shining.

Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Rate: AAA $204 per night
Received: Queen Deluxe Plus

A little disappointed to be honest and advised the front desk that I was. It's a suite but the bed has been downgraded, fine for solo too small for a couple and also too soft. They still had multiple King beds available for booking including King Deluxe Plus. Usual high quality Diamond amenity and hand-written card in room.

So why did you accept the room?

I'd rather not get a gift if it meant being disturbed when sleeping or preparing myself for the day :)

(I usually leave a hotel room first thing in the morning)

I hope there are upgrade fairies at Hilton and I hope they haven't run out of fairy dust
This is what my booking for Conrad HKG currently looks like
View attachment 21005
Originally booked a King Harbour View.
If it stays that way it's going to be an amazing start to my trip to the LOTFAP
Fingers crossed :D

So a little fairy dust fell off but we have ended up in an Exec Peak View Suite :)
Arrived at 6.45pm this evening and quickly showed upstairs to the Exec Lounge for check-in where we had a champagne (me) and a Sprite (mini-me) and were shown to a window table while our bags were delivered to the room and we enjoyed the evening canapés and the view.
The Conrad Hong Kong really is IMHO a great credit to the Hilton group and the service is superb without being overwhelming.

I hosted Avery special event at the Conrad and they did a superb job. Love that hotel. Nothing is too much trouble.

Fabulous stay at the Waldorf in London. The staff were excellent, particularly in the Exec Lounge. Nothing was too much trouble. The guest relations manager arranged an Exec Suite for my parents and an adjoining Queen Deluxe for me. (Instead of the Junior Suite and the Standard Queen, the latter a rewards stay.)

Property: Hilton Sharjah
Date: 1/12/13
Rate: 360 AED (about AUD$107)
Room Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Room Received: King Ambassador Suite - 117 square metres, huge bedroom, lounge, dining room, kitchenette. Strangely, the bathroom is quite small. There is also an additional seperate toilet.

The entrance hall in this suite is the size of many hotel rooms I've stayed in. It has huge floor to ceiling windows with amazing views from both sides of the hotel from the bedroom, lounge and dining room.

All the staff are amazing. I checked in at 2:45am. My flight departure time is 2:30am. I have been given a 6pm checkout and then use of the executive lounge until my limo arrives at 9:30pm.

A fruit bowl and a plate of local confectionary were waiting for me.

Breakfast was excellent in the restaurant. The only negative is that the emirate of Sharjah is completely dry so no booze in the exec. lounge :(. I'll make up for that when I get to the Emirates First Lounge!

I love Hilton and they seem to love me .

Oh, and this stay qualifies me for another 12 months of this love affair!

Well my upgrade at HOTP was tarnished a little by the last day
Went to teach my course at 0800 , back at 1630 room not made up
No real issue
Went to visit sister back at 1930
Still not made up
Had drink in exec lounge , get them to ring housekeeping who assured me it had been made up as it had been marked off
I assured them it hadn't and invited them to check my statement
Was made up when i got back at 11 and got 4 instead of 2 mentos on the pillow!

Obviously clerical but annoying

Rate: $391 AAA rate

I like this property, despite its niggly bits.
We arrived at approx 6.30pm, at check-in advised we would be on floor 21. Made "not happy Jan" face and offered 29th, mentioned "Diamond" and offered 53rd floor for $10 night extra, so not too bad.
The corner suites are huge, massive lounge with projector screen for TV. Ridiculously large corner King with hot tub and massive ensuite and normal sized King bed room and ensuite on other side of lounge.
Little lounge area with wrap around views of the strip.

Wow......the power of the modern Celts.......

I make a "not happy Jan" face and people just think I'm constipated

But you, a 32 floor upgrade to the 53rd..............I tip my hat in admiration!

The size of the Japanese King bed is more like something between an Australian Queen and King.
