How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

I cannot complain about both the Melbourne hotels
each time I usually get the relaxation suite and the clubs are wonderful.
the South Wharf is a real pleasure to stay in.

Staying at HSW next week in the 2br City room with some mates before my wedding the next day, looking forward to it!

Ha! You are supposed to be dreaming about something other than the pre-wedding accomm with your mates!

I hope your soon-to-be does not read AFF!

If I recall correctly, that also means a trip to the South Pacific looms large as well?

Congrats in advance and I wish you both all the very best for your future together! (and that's as sentimental as I get) ;)

Room Received: Deluxe King One Bedroom Apartment with Ocean View

You may wonder what the difference between a Deluxe and 'normal' apartment is. The Deluxe ones are in a particular building, on the top 3 floors with fantastic direct ocean views. The 'normal' apartments are a bit lower down so the view isn't so good.

We checked in and it was clear the hotel were new to Hilton - the staff were great, and were very excited that we were staying in a freshly refurbished apartment. We were the first guests in that particular room. They recognised my Gold status, but made a small mistake with providing only one breakfast voucher per day, not two. Never mind - it was quickly rectified and they apologised that the Hhonors processes were still new to them. We were given "a letter from someone for you" which was the Hhonors manager's welcome letter, explaining our benefits - free breakfast, two bottles of water per stay, free internet - all as expected. I laughed at the "letter from someone" comment.

The room itself was fabulous - 68 sq metres with separate bathroom and toilet. The bed was good, but not as good as Hilton Sydney/both Melbourne hotels. There is a sofa bed in the living room - supposedly one can sleep on it, but it is a double sofa bed so you could sleep two I suppose. There is a full kitchen, and washing machine and dryer.

Breakfast was interesting - if you don't like pastries, you'll be disappointed, but you are on a French island after all. The buffet is rather small, with bacon, sausages, roasted chicken (a first for me?), hash browns, french toast, croissant pudding, and a large range of cereals. There is no barista, so you can't complain about being charged $5 for coffee like Sydney. There is an espresso machine which makes nice coffee. You can order eggs on request if you wish.

The kitchen and laundry facilities make this place very good value. Parking underneath is free, with direct lift access to your apartment floor.

If you go - take two beach towels each. You can't use the hotel towels on the beach, but you can obviously wash and dry your own on alternate days... we didn't use the dryer, instead hanging our towels outside overnight.

I think we were well looked after as HHonors Gold - and the brand new room was excellent.

Property: Doubletree by Hilton KUL
Booked: King guest room
Received: King Executive suite

Two bottles of water - but ended up with about six as they kept appearing each day/night, fruit platter.

The view was across to two nearby buildings, but I didn't mind as I spent most of my time wandering the city. My room was not ready until 2pm, and as I arrived at 10am I had a good excuse for said wandering. The lounge offerings were good for both breakfast and canapés. Certainly enough for an evening meal. Thanks markis10/serfty (?) for the tip about the food court downstairs - I do like a $2 lunch.

Keith in the exec lounge was excellent.

Glad you liked it, I will be burning 40K of HH points after Xmas for a nice 5 days there, Hilton have a very good range of options in KUL as far as hotels and value goes. SPG is catching up while IHG are a long way behind.

It was definitely a good points redemption stay from my point of view.

I would like to give a wrap to the various Hilton brand hotels I stayed at on my recent RTW trip. As a HH Diamond, I was able to score an early check in every time I tried. This included a 6:30am check in at the Hilton London Olympia after arriving on QF9. I was able to get a number of other pre 10:00am check ins as well. Made the trip a lot better and is worth keeping my HH status.

Couldn't fault the hotel or the service here, even though I was in one of the "older" rooms it really felt fine! Haven't even seen pics of the renovated room but apparently 4 floors have been renovated, then again the carpet and that seemed new, so maybe that was the renovation. Either way very happy with the room

Of note I saw the GM (David) while I was walking back from the pool and he was talking to 2 other "managers" and he was stopping to pick up little bits of fluff/paper that were on the ground. To see a GM of a large hotel do that speaks volumes!

Well done to David and the Hilton Perth
