How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Sounds like Kuching has gone downhill.7 years ago paid sub $50 and got upgraded to their large suite on the top floor.Choice of 5 curries in the lounge in the evening,3 at breakfast.I was in heaven, mrsdrron less so!

I was at the Hilton KCH mid last year as a gold. I did try pretty hard to get one of the suites but failed, nevertheless, can't really complain about the property given its rating (a level 4 I think) and price. As the above report outlines, there is definite wear and tear problems ... I had aircon issues as well, and the bed 'tops' are often not secured to the bed bottoms either which can surprise you if you sit on the edge (not the mattress, its a sort of two part wooden frame thing).

The staff however are great and will rectify or change your room if there are problems - the hotel overall is good imho - I'll go back without hesitation.

Friends have checked into the Hilton KL under my name (I'm arriving later tonight). Three rooms were booked under my name for six guests in total. My friends and I have all been upgraded to the 29th floor but executive lounge access has been extended only to us (ie. me the Diamond member and my partner).

I was of the understanding that if you were upgraded to the executive floor you got the executive floor benefits. Isn't that like saying 'Okay, son. We're going to Disneyland but you can't take any of the rides'.

Is my understanding wrong?

Has anyone had experience with the Hilton KL not extending benefits to even a second room (putting aside the third)?

(These reservations were AP booked several months ago, prior to the stolen mobile phone debacle.)

Its normal to get the benefits for one room, upgrading to the executive floor often means better view and toiletries etc, but not always lounge access.

Bugger. I guess I'm footin' the bill for my mates' drinks (as apparently they can go into the lounge and pay on a consumption basis). Would probably end up being cheaper for me to book an executive room outright!

Its a MYR$260 delta online at present per room, factor in Breakfast if needed and drinks are normally MYR30 and up.

Recently booked HSP for 2 rooms and both were upgraded to Executive floor. both rooms has full EL access. Pretty pathetic of Hilton KL imo

Mrs eric recently stayed at BNE Hilton and the rotten mongrels added $2 for the morning paper. That's on top of $55 to park the car

First time I hear about a newspaper charge. Does she has any status with HH?
I'm sure that if she complains at front desk they will cancel it.

ISTR It had been the case that simply being a HHonors member was enough for a complimentary paper - it maybe that has changed since it is no longer in the T&C's.

I guess that with their penny-pinching policy anything is possible.
$5 for coffee, $2 for newspaper, what's next? $1 for laundry bag maybe?!

Free paper for myself at BNE Hilton this week but I'm a Gold member and was on Executive Floor.

 What a generous mate you are. Hasn't the concept of your mates paying for their own drinks been canvassed?

I would never dream of making mates pay for overpriced lounge drinks, just cos me and the mrs could drink for free.

If you're going to pay $8 a beer, $7 a glass of poor quality wine; go to a nice wine bar - much nicer ambiance.

The Hilton Honors rules are quite clear for a Diamond, room upgrade, usually but not always, to Executive Floor, with lounge access for member plus one registered guest, regardless of room. There is no requirement for guests in the other two rooms to get free lounge access.
In my opinion the hotel have shown generosity is upgrading the extra two rooms to the Executive Floor. For a member (not necessarily the OP) to expect more, is pushing it.

Another generous person and of course everyone has the option of shouting their mates drinks but the mates don't have to go to the lounge, or if they really want to, they could pay their own way. Going elsewhere is always an option (one I have done on many occasions) but it's a lot different to paying your mates way. Apparently the mates don't hold status, nor have bought an executive room so unless Hilton decide to extend the privilege, they're not otherwise entitled to the lounge access. We know some Hiltons do that, apparently this one does not so it's not the Diamond guests fault, it's just life. Remember the mates have already been given room upgrades off the back of a diamond guest but it seems the free drinks was more the attraction (understandably).

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell anyone what they should or should not do, that's their call entirely. I just expressed surprise that the assumption was automatically that the diamond guest should somehow feel obligated to buy his mates their drinks for the night because lounge access was not granted to those who hadn't earned it but for some reason, expected it because their mate had earned his right to access............????

It appears Hilton's IT department is having a party with the VA IT department as we speak.

I apparently have no stays, no reservations and no points... but hey I'm still Diamond!

It happens pretty much every weekend, don't worry, life returns to normal tomorrow night.

No I agree, there's no assumption the Diamond member has to pay. But again, I don't think the fact the two people get free drinks should force the other four guests to drink in the lounge, rather than somewhere nice. The lounge isn't nice. If the majority of the group have to pay, then at least go to a bar and have a night.

The lounge is not an entertainment venue. It's for having a drink and a snack after work or a long day. I only use it when travelling for work or alone, because when there are others.... guess what, ya go somewhere nice.

At my one and only stay at HOTP we were "upgraded" to an executive room without lounge access. I was HH Blue at the time and the reply we received was to the effect that upgrades to executive rooms do not confer exec lounge access unless as a benefit of HH status.

A little OT but I have stayed in multiple two room (and one three room) bookings in the LOTFAP over the past couple of months and every single one has had full Diamond benefits to both rooms.
