How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Stick with Hilton - much better in terms of public transport access and mantra won't upgrade. breakfast in lounge is good too

If you go somewhere else it may leave more room in the EL and a better chance of an upgrade for the rest of us.

I quite like it. Will the Mantra give you free breakfast and most likely an upgrade to an executive room?

No, although it is around $100 less per night for the 2BR apt than for 2 rooms.

We've stayed at the Hilton for years, just wondering really whether the kind of negative commentary on Tripadvisor is representative of AFF'ers recent experience

I'm always wary of Tripadvisor reviews, anywhere.

I often check them as a guide but find that many negative reviews are from uninformed, non-status types who will only pay for the cheapest room (and expect everything), don't like the breakfast charge, internet charge, and end up in the basement and complain about the view, when the place is fully booked, and wonder why.

If your gold diamond with Hilton not only do you get more points but free wifi ( good high speed stuff) and breakfast either in the business executive lounge or full buffet in the restaurant. Also can leave later ur checkout after 14:00

... have noticed it slip down the Tripadvisor ratings from 1 to 14 ...

I just checked that list. Half of those that are listed as 1-13 in the "All Adelaide hotels (55)" section are not hotels at all, but are actually rooms/units in apartment buildings.

So, Tripadvisor isn't really comparing hotels with hotels at all.

I often find the comments there to be a bit too positive for some properties.

I always stay at Hilton Adelaide, mostly because of the complementary upgrades, free wifi/breakfast/water/exec lounge access with bundy rum lol ... although their "zipper beds" and pillows absolutely 5h17 me to tears.

Our office is on Frome Street so it's a fair hike in the summer - particularly when its 40c+... nearby is a brand new Crowne Plaza (Hindmarsh Square) which I'm keen to try but don't want to miss out on the Hilton freebies.

Never had any hassles with ADL Hilton , and really no where in the city is along walk from the Hilton and free CBD trams make it even easier.

Three recent KL stays as Gold - Exec floor access and rooms but no suites for all.
Did Exec lounge breakfasts at all three - am not a big breakfast person and prefer the quieter ambience of the lounges

Hilton KL - 1 night - Late night arrival.
High Floor Exec room
No welcome letter
Chocolates, fruit and water
Thought the selection at the Exec Lounge was most disappointing of the three

Hilton PJ KL - 1 night - Also late night arrival
High Floor Exec room in East Wing
No welcome letter
Fruit and water

Doubletree KL - 3 nights
High Floor King Room (first time in 3 stays, 1 as Diamond, 2 as Gold that I didn't get a suite)
Welcome letter sent via email 3 days before, inc 3-free laundry pieces/day, and offering Exec floor access
Only made coughtails for 1hr on first night and 10 min last night due to F1 activities - different choices each night, albeit many items had run out and weren't replaced on first night. One of the chefs was wandering on the second night. Good attentive service by the staff.
Probably had my favourite breakfast of the three with the biggest variety.

I also note for fans of the Hilton KL (and indeed Le Meriden and aloft KL) that the Nu Sentral mall which provides a link bridge between Sentral and the Monorail is now open - which makes connections much much easier.

Ummm, EL access as a Gold should not be expected as it is not a benefit - only for Diamond.

Hilton Malta. 1 night.
As a Diamond, I was upgraded from a base level room to an Executive suite. (3rd top floor).
Arrived too late for drinks at EL.
Had breakfast next morning at their very good buffet downstairs gratis.Usually €20 which I think is decent value.
Was given free WiFi code (one device only), bottle of water and chocolates.

Overall very nice stay. Biggest downer was reception trying to charge me retail value for the suite on checkout. Was resolved after a bit of discussion....

A like, except for the last part

Yes, I can envisage the discussion . Did it include a suggestion of the most appropriate "chute" in which they could insert their retail invoice?

It went something like....
Oh, the room price is incorrect. It should be €95.
Yes., your deposit has been applied to the account.
But the room was my diamond upgrade, the cost should be €95.
Oh. Eyes suss me out. Much typing on computer.
Right. I'll sort it. Nothing to pay.
