How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Received: Relaxation Suite - initially a Deluxe King Guestroom (as worded at checkin - pretty sure there's no deluxe category)

Was told the same thing with an upgrade to a Deluxe King Guestroom ... I believe what they call a Deluxe is their King City View

Hilton Diamonds eligible for 'Compliementary Continental Breakfast' correct? How often any of you good people actually been refused 'Full Breakfast' and indeed suggested you should only partake only in 'Continental Breakfast'?

We did indeed experience this at 'Waldorf' in London last year. Looking to book Morrison Double Tree in Dublin and Hilton Bomonti in Istanbul and just thought i might ask this of the learned AFF fraternity before booking.

FWIW my shadow will never darken the door of the Waldorf again.

doubletree alice springs told me not to pick any hot items from the buffet at breakfast, lol. idiots

Received: Offered Relaxation Suite but asked to change to a Yarra Suite without problem.

Lounge spread was very good including prawns.

Welcome note from the GM, water, wine and a really nice meat and cheese platter.

Hilton Taupo was very adamant it was continental only. Offered an upgrade to full for an extra NZ$10 (I think) but the offering was, well, ordinary at best so we didn't bother. I have the feeling all NZ Hiltons keep pretty much to the minimum offering they can get away with.

I had the same issue at Taupo and came to the same conclusion. Auckland on the other hand has always been very good with a full breakfast when i/we have been there.

I've also experienced the continental only at Taupo NZ. No real problems because there was enough to eat.

The Millennium New York is very strict on the continental only to the extent I've been watched whilst choosing breakfast and reminded what is and isn't included! Again enough options to eat a full meal but...

Conrad Tokyo is similar. Lounge breakfast is hot and allowed, but continental only in the main restaurant. Can pay to upgrade.

I had the opposite experience just prior to Christmas last year at The Waldorf. I had been using the Exec Lounge, which itself serves a hot breakfast, and was asked if I, and family, would like to take up a full breakfast in the restaurant.

I have seen a lot of poor reviews for the Waldorf in London but have to say it was excellent for me.

Yes that was experience in Lounge at Waldorf last year - hot breakfast in Lounge which was basic but quite ok - but Lounge could not accommodate numbers trying to use it - so we were sent down to main restaurant by Lounge staff - staff in main restaurant quickly and concisely made it clear no hot items to be consumed after we told them we were overflow from Executive Lounge - left a nasty taste in the mouth. (Their attitude not the food)

Wow!

Impressive. I've never received a suite upgrade here ... in fact I had to really turn on the charm last time I was there to even get into an exec upgrade.

I heard a rumor after I left that GM Brett Christ was returning to this property ... those who are regulars will know and remember how high a standard HSW was under his lead. I wonder if he's returned already?

It never stops to amaze me how 5* hotels can sometimes get the idea of customer service so wrong. They all know very well how to take your money, but when it comes to providing the benefits, some can be so petty, it's very disappointing.
I have a small example of how things should be done: This week I stayed at Sheraton SYD and when I went to have breakfast in the lounge at 6.30am, I was told it only opens at 7am and was advised to go down to the restaurant. At the restaurant I was told at first that I have to add $15 for a full buffet breakfast but after I told them I was sent from the lounge, they let me in free of charge.
Now, TBH they didn't have to do it because it doesn't say anywhere in the T&Cs that I MUST eat my breakfast at 6.30am. They could ask me to wait until the lounge opens but here comes the little special "elite" treatment that makes a customer happy and ensure he will return next time.

My note last Thursday night was from Brett Christ.

He was never really far away as he was overseeing both HSW & HoTP.

First stay at Conrad Singapore. Can understand why everyone is so happy with hotel. I now have my teddy. Bear and rubber duckie.:)

Very pleased with this short stay. From check in recognised as HH member and advised of the complimentary upgrade (Much prefer this approach as compared to some other establishment, you actually have to ask for any chance of an upgrade). Room was not ready till 3pm but asked to make use of the EL. Room was immaculately clean. Note from GM and a small bottle of wine. x2 bottles of water delivered at turn down. Slight difference in serving time for drinks & canapes, starting from 6pm (HWS - 5pm). Fantastic spread during the drinks & canapes (salt & pepper calamari, steam dumplings, soup, sushi, antipasto platter, prawns, cheese platter, dessert). The EL unfortunately still has the old Nespresso machine. Hopefully on the list for a replacement to the Lavazza very soon. Coffee luke warm

Have stayed here before.
Check-in was very professional and didn't need to ask for any benefits. They came straight out with it and just kept them coming.
A good 1-night in Bangkok.
