How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

My first Diamond stay is in Hilton Barbados. Hotel isn't up to much, reminds me of a Holiday Inn, but staff is fabulously friendly and location is stunning. No froom upgrade though there is apparently plenty of room on the Executive floor. Enjoying a few days doing nothing on the white sandy beach. The club, which I had to request as they didn't seem to know I was Diamond (VA subdivision) is very average. Food is poor. Is an honour bar in the club usual for Hiltons?

I have stays coming up in Miami Airport, Waikiki, and Sydney. Would it be worthwhile emailing them of my new status ?

Just finished a Done 4 RTW and stayed at 4 Hiltons with mynew VA status matched Diamond status…here is the summary:
Hilton DFW LakesExecutive Conference Centre… Booked a base King upgraded to a King deluxe. Receivedfree Wi-Fi, and free snack and coughtail as the club was closed (thanksgivingeve) plus free breakfast.
Hilton Times square…bookedbase King Room got upgraded to King Deluxe free Wi Fi plus free breakfast. They are renovating the 42[SUP]nd[/SUP]street entrance so a bit inconvenient you enter from 41[SUP]st[/SUP] (very basicentry you have to look for the Hilton banner!)
Hilton LondonPaddington hotel…booked base King got upgraded to a deluxe King (very nice)free Wi Fi worth £15 per day…freebreakfast in the lounge. Great location as it is inside Paddington main line Station, very convenient to LHR via Heathrow Express.
Hilton MauritiusResort & Spa Mauritius…booked a base twin room upgraded to a juniorsuite, right on the beach front. Great service made a big deal re the Diamondstatus free Wi-Fi worth $25 a day. Breakfast already part of the package so recieved a fruit platter and bucket loads of bottled water each day!

First experience as a comped Diamond through VA who status matched my QF WP

I have a prepaid non-cancellable/changeable reservation this weekend at the Hilton Adelaide but unfortunately won't be able to make it due to another christmas commitment in Sydney .... so I asked the hotel directly if I could change my stay to a later date in January and it was accepted though I had to pay the room rate difference if any. Yes it was approved, cost me an extra $47 or so extra but at least I didn't have to forfeit my $$ for a no-show. Thumbs up to the Hilton Adelaide and HH Diamond, because I have a feeling if I was just an ordinary HH Blue, I would probably be have been knocked back.

That's good to hear. You were very lucky, I think. I am (almost) never game enough to make pre-paid non-cancellable bookings, unless I'm 100% that no changes will be needed. I book the best cancellable rate that I can get, to maintain flexibility.

Adelaide Hilton
HH Diamond
Room Booked: Queen Guest Room
Rate: $175
Room Recieved: King Spa Suite - freakin' massive. Seperate louge/dining and bedroom, and extra bathroom.

Breakfast in lounge or restaurant - was very good.
Evening "canapes" and drinks was a bit poor - the one thing of hot food was not refreshed the whole time.

HH Gold:

Hilton Beijing Capital Airport - upgraded to exec floor, welcome note, chocolates in room
Grand Hilton Seoul - upgraded to exec floor, welcome note, box of chocolates in room :)

I have to say as a lowly Hilton Gold the treatment is generally good. I see Hilton as a sole benefit program. Gold is very easy to achieve per fast track and in any case offers free breakfast and the occasional upgrade.

I use Hilton sporadically if the jump to a Hyatt or SPG property is too much price wise. 1000 bmi miles per stay help as well. Hilton points are rather worthless to me.

You can also get 1000 QFF points or 1000 Velocity points instead of the BMI, although BMI may be of more use.

Hilton do transfer HHonors points to Qantas at a horrible rate of 10K:1.5K.

Had my final stay of the year at Hilton on the Park Melbourne. Standard room upgrade from King Hilton Guest to exec floor. I was able to guest into the Exec lounge - in fact my Gold colleague also guested a non status into the lounge at no cost. Only my fourth stay and already recognised by the Exec lounge staff (note my first stay was as a blue). No letter from the manager this time.

This year I have had nine stays, 16 nights and 56K base points. On this basis I could actually look at retaining Gold in my own right next year (slight more stays next year). I do wish I could make it back to the Conrad though...

Stayed at the Hilton on the Park Melbourne last week for the first time as Diamond. Upgraded from King Hilton Guest room to Executive Floor. A welcome letter from the GM and the wifi is excellent both in room and in the lounge.

It's nice when the staff in the lounge remember what wine you were drinking the night before and bring a glass of it to your table.

Am looking forward to returning there in February, in the meantime I have stays booked at Sydney and Adelaide.

Must have been a rush of AFFers at Hilton on the Park last week as I had my first stay there as well. Got upgraded from King Guest Room to Executive King, free bottle of water and letter from GM. Had a great check in and a very warm welcome from staff in Executive Lounge... Good impression of hotel ruined however after a 90 minute wait for room service (had been advised it would take 20 minutes). Further ruined when the delivery staff tried to tell me I had only been waiting for 20 minutes. Hole became even deeper after receiving a phone call from someone else who tried to tell me that I had only ordered 20 minutes ago.... I'm heading back to Hilton SW!

Both this week as diamond:

Hilton gold coast - no upgrade, fruit platter on arrival, hand written welcome letter. Nothing special

Syd Hilton - booked king exec, upgrade to king suite. Handmade chock on arrival. Very nice stay.

Hilton South Wharf. Reasonably good first stay as VA comped Diamond.

Booked King guest room on December sale. Received executive floor king guest room.

Exec lounge was better than what I remembered from my last visit just after it opened, but disappointed not to see any hot breakfast. Had a small checkin issue that was dealt with efficiently. Did not have time to figure out the comp WiFi.
