How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: HH KUL
Date: November 2014
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Room
Received: King Suite

The suites at KUL HH seem to go on for ever. Lounge/dining room with a visitor's loo. Study nook, walk in robe, bag room and finally bedroom and bathroom. 6 bottles of water (yes 6: 2 in the lounge/dining, 2 in the bathroom and 2 in the bedroom). The exec lounge is very spacious and has a great view, but the food offerings leave a bit to be desired (to my diet anyway). I did enjoy a few slices of mushroom quiche, so I did not go hungry. The wine service was also generous.

I enjoyed breakfast downstairs, and once again was looked after very well. A great hotel and very convenient to the airport train.

A month back I wanted to make last minute booking at Hilton SIN - their web site showed ZERO availability - Trivago AU showed available at like USD350 or so - Trivago USA showed available USD250 or so - I booked it.

All good when checking in at 10pm - staff also advised they already had my Hilton Diamond number when I tried to pass card over - then went on to inform me Exec Lounge open till 11pm and brekkie over there where she pointed.

Amazing - third party booking when Hilton showing no availability and all Dia privileges . Not claiming - you just never know do you?

Property: HOTP
Date: 22nd November 2014
Status: Diamond
Booked: Base room (Govt rate)
Received: Relaxation Suite - 1213 - Same room as past 2 times.

First time on a govt rate, no issues. Spoke to front desk about it changing hands... staff are trying to stay in Hilton chain and aren't looking forward to it. Not much time to use exec lounge but nice for a quiet drink, breakfast downstairs this morning was great. Late checkout, car out front and ready - Can't complain at all.

Wife and I will miss this hotel when it leaves the chain. We love the location, service and overall experience.

HHonors properties generally do provide status bennies to thier elites no matter how booked ... you just don't normally earn points, stay or night credits.

Have previously booked same hotel Hilton SIN via Singapore Stopover - when I sought upgrade at check in was politely told status benefits do not apply as booking made through 3rd party. Go figure!

This would really annoy me. I've just scanned over the T&C and the general HH web site and can no longer find any mention of 3rd party bookings. I know it used to be there because I remember reading the section - as I recall the difference was essentially as Serfty has said above, no points earned, no stay credit - but now, unless its in extremely tiny print, I just cant' find any mention at all.

If challenged in the future I think I'll ask for a copy of the T&C from the front desk if they spout such an excuse at me.

Property: HSW
Booked: King Guestroom
Received: 2 Bedroom Suite Bay View
Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, only one person staying. The cleaners are going to be very happy tomorrow :)

I don't know what it is with HSW and me. So far, yet to receive anything better than the exec room. I will definitely miss HotP in 2015!

Having just gained Gold status it will be interesting to see what love HOTP show me this weekend. Probably not much.
They always looked after me as gold. Never missed an exec room upgrade. I did have to wait until I was diamond before I was offered a suite.

I am there Friday night! Maybe our paths will cross.

Is there a difference? I didn't mind either machine and the HoTP one was exceptionally easy to use. Beats a sachet of International Roast!

That totally sucks. I love those Nespresso Gemini 'saucer' pod machines, I always used to drop by the EL on the way to the express checkout box to grab a takeaway. The HoTP machine is just not of the same standard. The Diamant in New Acton Canberra (now Peppers) also has one in the lobby, and they are great IMHO.

On another note, a GC job has me at HSP next week (first time). Shock, horror, I've just realised that schoolies is on this week and possibly the next. Any idea if I'll be cocooned from the drepravity? Surely Hilton don't allow schoolies to book HSP do they?

Good news fro me - I would prefer the machine at HoTP.
The coffees were never hot enough at HSW and the milk container ran out regularly as it was so small.
