My theory is that the prawns have become Monday-Thursday (maybe mainly for the business travellers).

My most recent ventures to the EL were on a Friday and a Sunday at 6.00pm, and definitely no prawns. I'll check it out again this weekend, and ask discretely if they are a no-show. Also, have seen Mr van Weezel getting around in the EL on both of those occasions.

Did you check in at the Exec Floor? Better chances of upgrades there in my view.
Man, the stress of prawngate....Phew! So glad they decided to make an appearance today, credibility restored. :mrgreen:

Im not sold on checking in at the exec lounge in Sydney having any benefit.Most of the staff have only been there since late last year.Depending on who you get late checkout varies from 12-2 and have even been told anything past 1.30pm requires a charge.They never asked about a paper and I always forget to ask.Downstairs I have been offered that days paper being sent to my room as well as the next mornings paper.
Others may have better luck but after my 3rd attempt this year Im going to try the front desk again.
 
Sydney Hilton. Mr jojen & I checked in this afternoon at the front desk. Booked a King Hilton room and upgraded to a relaxation suite room !!

I can confirm no prawns tonight !!!

However I feel the food offering has improved. In leiu of the pawns there is a delicious seafood salad with pesto dressing which I am really enjoying as do not have to shell the prawns !! Also chicken satay skewers and grilled vegetable skewers.

I popped into the EL earlier tonight to check on my theory. Seems to confirm it because there were once again just veggie sticks, salad, sushi and dressings on the (usually prawn) ice display. I didn't have the nerve to ask the EL staff about the disappearing prawns on weekends as I see them as a bonus (and cannot recall seeing prawns in other AU EL's).

I'm only hilton gold, but a bit disappointed by a current stay in the US at a garden inn. I checked in fine, only to be locked out of my room on the 3rd day of a 6 day stay. At reception they explained that they couldn't take a deposit from my credit card. We couldn't get my normal card to work, so I explained I would transfer money onto a second card and come back the next day.

I turned up at reception the next afternoon and sorted it all out just fine. I then got to my room to find an email from the gm of the hotel asking me to come to reception to pay my bill. It was reasonably worded, so I was ok with it.

I then went out for dinner that night and had colleagues asking me why I hadn't paid my hotel bill. Turns out someone from the hotel had called my employer and spoken to people I had never even met about why I hadn't paid my bill! The booking I had made wasn't even linked to my employer in any way at all and i still had two more nights before check out!!!

I found this completely unprofessional and I'm pretty disappointed to be honest...
 
Good to hear theres been some pretty generous Upgrades happening at HSYD... I've had a month off SYD Hilton ( used a Marriott Status Challenge) But hopefully this luck continues for me for a few stays next month... Might have something to do with the new GM?

Ham Sandwich, agreed that is completely unprofessional and upsetting... Embarrassing to say the least I'm sure.
 
Up early to head out to ORF ....good stay a Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront - booked King Ocean View - received King Empyrean Club Floor Corner Ocean View. Very friendly staff nice lounge .. will be back.
