How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Aeolus there is just nothing special about Hilton SIN - even upgrades from base to higher class will leave you totally underwhelmed - and Exec Lounge nothing special either. But I do like location right on Orchard Rd.
Cruiser, thanks for the heads up. Can't believe that they wanted to charge more than SGD$350/night for the underwhelming privilege! Guess I'll stick with Conrad then.

They ask and get S$350 and plenty more very regularly mainly because they get away with it - grossly overpriced hotel IMH - yet I still stay there sometimes - go figure.

Anyone knows if Conrad Singapore is generous with their upgrades for Diamonds? Undecided between Conrad and Hilton. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Easter 2014 I booked Classic Twin on points plus $ with Diamond status, and we were upgraded to the Centennial Suite. A very enjoyable stay at the Conrad.

Cancelled a paid booking for Sat night at ADL Hilton (done when a Diamond) and re-booked a points night (now as Gold). Bet I don't get a Suite upgrade :o

But I bet you'll be thankful when you check out and notice you've still the cash. :)

Having been HH Diamond for a couple of years now and dropping to Gold this year I've decided I'm not going to actively seek out Hilton's anymore especially if they're noticeably more expensive than others.

Maybe I'm just worn out from the whole hotel elite status game! :o

It's been mentioned many times that status chasing is quite regularly not just a waste of time, but also quite regularly sees you worse off than if you just ingore the status lure and book the hotel/room that suits you at the time.

I've flagged away IHG status (even though it still shows me as platinum ) as I prefer, in places without a Hilton, to just find a place I like/sounds good. At the moment, I'm fortunate that Hiltons do suit my travel destinations to retain diamond and with a certain discount, usually make them OK price wise.

As for hire cars...........forget the hassel and buy the cheapest. Status is not worth the angst of chasing points, chasing rental credits, expecting but not receiving upgrades etc.

Yep couldn't agree more. I haven't been travelling so much for leisure these days more so to China for business and these days we have a nice three-bedroom apartment due to spending so much time there. Sometimes I do wish it had an exec lounge in it though when I can't be bothered cooking! :D

Plenty Maccas in China - watcha belly aching about?

It's great to have status when traveling for business. You can have drinks and food in exec lounges when traveling solo and enjoy the upgrades when going on holidays.
I wouldn't bother maintaining status if most travel is for leisure, plenty of deals out there that can save money and still stay in nice hotels that belong to different chains.

Status: Silver
Property: Hilton Sydney
Rate: $227AAA
Date: 5 April
Booked: King Hilton Guestroom Plus
Received: King Relaxation Suite + full breakfast for 2 in glass.
As promised from the girls in the Exec lounge upgraded to a suite due to a noisy neighbour a few nights earlier. Also ran in to Kirra on the way out and asked about getting my partners benefits for this booking as she is gold.
Also received the gold 25% bonus on points, only silver for the stay 2 days earlier.Although no stays credited to my account for this or the last stay.Have to say the Syd Hilton staff go above and beyond.Unfortunately HHonours staff and their IT department let them down.Currently account shows silver and the status bar shows gold for 2016.

Update:decided to call HH again and they tell me status is gold stays are correct its just my screen is incorrect.I wonder what screen the hotel sees.

With the run of good reviews of SYD recently, I am looking forward to my stay early May.

Likewise!
I'm there in just under 3 weeks and hopes are high.. I've had to make my first non-Hilton booking in almost a year fornext week, HSYD were asking for a whopping $550 a night for a standard shoebox deluxe 1 month in advance.... Going to try out Swissotel for the first time.

Off topic but thought I'll stay a night at the ex HotP. Good to see familiar faces at the reception, received a room on high floor but not the relaxation suite. :( For $134/night via Expedia, it's cheaper than DT and still feels like coming home so I really can't complain.

Did you 'accidentally' find yourself with access to the exec lounge?

Unfortunately no, I did go up to Level 18, hoping to say hello to Subha and some of the other girls but the new trainee during HotP days was there and I didn't want to push the friendship. EL was definitely less crowded than HH days though.

Great stay. Love this hotel.

Property: Hilton Adelaide
Rate: Advance purchase
Booked: King room
Received: King exec room

Two bottles of water.

Another disappointing stay, recognition wise. Apart from a high floor (17th) there is no difference between this room and a standard king. The breakfast area has moved temporarily to an internal viewless room. There is no food cooked to order, just a buffet - yet coffee still costs $5. I declined.

Peter in the lounge was as always excellent. He is a standout for the hotel.

When I checked out, I asked for the GM's contact details. I was refused them, and offered his/her PA's instead!

Am I expecting too much, or are they really not trying to keep loyal HHers loyal?
