How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Well that is kinda reassuring. Although I am staying there from 20/12 till 26/12. I have no idea if spending christmas there is a busy or not so busy time..

Yep, booked the most basic room on points.

Edit: I guess it depends on the availability. When we were there it wasn't too busy, I'm sure it helped secure that awesome upgrade.

Make sure to take advantage of the two daily diamond happy hours (high tea and coughtails).

I have 2 6night stays coming up, on at conrad singapore and one at conrad sanya. Has anyone been upgraded for 6 nights? seems like it is more likely to be upgraded for short stays rather than 5 nights + stays?

Last week upgraded for four nights to a suite from a basic room as a diamond. Suspect as the F1 race gets closer, the likelihood will diminish.

Hilton South Wharf
Booked Redemption
Recd Exec Room
In lounge now having a White Rabbit
Just for a change :)

Property: Conrad Hong Kong
Date: Sept 2015
Status: Diamond
Booked: King mountain view room
Received: King partial harbour view plus high floor plus diamond access to exec lounge
Cost: $452 AUD

Have to say my least favourite Asian Conrad and not worth the money. Whilst there is nothing wrong with the hotel or the exec lounge. I didn't think the exec lounge staff were overly friendly and the lounge is quite small for the volume of people. Food offering ok, but SIN and BKK are much better. Room is older style, needs more electricity outlets. Location good. A good, but overpriced hotel, Langham Mong Kok is much nicer and better value.

Property: Doubletree KL
Date: August 2015
Status: Diamond
Booked: King room
Received: King exec room for first two nights then suite for other 2 nights
Cost 40,000 points ( is their any better value 10 k for each night)

Great stay as always. Room had no hot water so they upgraded me to a suite with fruit tray as an apology. Exec lounge good although there seems to be 2 new female managers who are not quit as friendly as some of the other staff. Will be back.

Yes there is better value you can have the 5th night free can you not?

Property: Hilton Cairns
Date: 3 nights, Aug/Sept 2015
Status: Diamond
Booked: Exec Spa
Received: Exec Spa overlooking Harbour Lights. (Sounds good, unless you know what HL is).
Cost: $289 p/n

Another great stay. Though I don't think I posted this, my previous 4 day stay in July I got an upgrade from spa room to Exec spa. Didn't want to push my luck so just booked the Exec spa room. By far my favourite. (Premier room OTT for a solo traveller).

Bottle of water and jar of honey as welcome gifts. Standard note. The GM was in lounge every night but paid me no attention. Fine by me. All staff great as usual. Full breakfast downstairs and I'd get a second sitting in the lounge for a top up and better juice.

I utilised room service more this time. While I preferred Hanuman, and the option to have some Mondo's items for dinner, the Donnini's menu seems ok. Have had their pizzas before (including one free one when they forgot my order back in July). This time sampled a couple of other items. Good prices and generous serves. Still wish more of the Mondos menu was available, but is pretty good.

I feel the lounge evening food is a little poorer than before. Unlike HSW, I've never used the Cairns EL for dinner - but even so, the food options aren't great. It is nice to see something new, but could be better. Some seafood or pizzas every now and then would be a welcome bonus.

As I was a bit unwell for one day, I felt the inability to get into the lounge early arvo a problem for the first time. Would have been nice to get in and have some fruit or simple snack and a hot drink. Surely key access could be arranged? Very few would ever use it I suspect. If John ever comes to chat to me I will raise it!

kermatu,
John Lucas is a very friendly and approachable guy. Do ask him next time you are there.

If you were coming to AFF gathering #9 I would introduce you.

Not my style to introduce myself, but maybe I will.

Coincidentally several days later in the Sydney QF Dom J lounge I ran into a fellow guest who I had seen in the EL chatting with John - they knew him from a previous role I think and said how nice he was.

Not 100% sure but may be there again about a week after AFF #9.

I'm at Brisbane hilton today as a gold and did not get executive lounge privileges. Reception said that as per terms and conditions only 1 level upgrade. Fair enough. But very surprised seeing that as the lady at reception said welcome to Brisbane again. I have stayed in this hotel a few times before.

Do the Ts&Cs actually say 1 level upgrade? I hope they're not reading something into the terms which just isn't there.

It's pretty rare Gold's don't get EL access in Australia, but the times are changing, do you get full breakfast downstairs at least ?

When I was gold the upgrade ratio for exec room was around 1:2 at HSYD and1:3 at HSW. When you get to know them through regular visits, upgrade is almost guaranteed and when you stay with them weeks on end, you also receive privilege to be allocated your regular room when available.
