How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Seriously, what did you launder? I think I got most of my clothes done at the a Conrad BKK for maybe $50.

A dozen pair of socks @ $5 per pair, a heap of knickers @ $7 each, handkerchiefs @ $3, shirts @ $12 will add up fast. :o

I actually did. I'm actually really annoyed. It was an honest mistake by my partner and they won't even offer a discount. Not even the 10% service charge....

I understand the mistake. My wife had a shirt washed and pressed after seeing we had a comlimentary "pressing". She thought to press it, they must surely wash it first!!!!

When I see rates like that in s.e Asian countries I am just disgusted. It's total price gouging, really pathetic when they probably take it to the same people who charge a few dollars for the whole load including folding.

Property: Doubletree Queenstown
Date: September 2015 – 2 nights
Status: Diamond
Booked: Standard Twin Guestroom (NZ198 pn)
Received: Upgraded with points to Lakeview 2 room suite

Not really near downtown of Queenstown (15 mins drive away around the lake) but convenient to the airport and with free car parking underneath hotel. Next door to a standard Hilton next. No lounge in Doubletree and did not ask about accessing the Hilton lounge but excellent Diamond benefit breakfast in the Hilton each morning for two.
Rooms quite small but okay for a couple of nights – bedroom dark with limited lighting. Brand new property but appeared quite busy at the end of the ski season. Doubletree cookies on arrival but slow reception as limited staffing.
You would need a car if wanting to see downtown Queenstown but a couple of cafes and a pub within the Village.

This is the view from our room – not really worth the extra points.

This was the second last stop on a 14 day driving tour of the bottom of the South Island – CHC to Dunedin to Invercargill to Milford Sound etc. Would definitely recommend doing the trip at this time of the year; especially Doubtful Sound – a full day trip ex Te Anau but only one boat on the Sound and fantastic scenery between the rain showers.

No executive lounge but the two hours of free drinks each night is still good. Amazing staff, one of the best hiltons I have stayed at.

I haven't been back since my first stay just after they opened (what ... about two years or so ago?) The hilton on the other side of the DT was still being completed at the time.

I found the lack of EL really annoying actually and mentioned it to one of the senior staffers at the time, he seemed to think that when the hilton opened that DT guests would be able to wander across and use theirs - seemed a bit strange to me and I doubt this would be extended to golds, maybe for diamonds (?). might be worth looking into if you are still there. Stranger things happen sometimes - shared pools at some hotels for example.

The staff _are_ really good, as you say - but I found the owners hadn't put enough effort into the refurb of the hotel and it felt a bit dour to me. Price difference at the time compared to the Millenium BKK was ok, but not enough for me to return to the DT given the Milleniums fabulous EL lounge and really good exec upgrade policy.

Booked: Double double guest
Received: Exec King with rollaway

A good stay all round. A bit inconsistent though, but forgivable. 2 waters first night, none the second, turn down with chocolates the first night but not the second, however coffee tax waived (only one cup) and allowed 3 adults into lounge both evenings and three full breakfasts without additional charge. I'm happy, yet I know others received no turn down and coffee tax enforced. A bit odd, but hey....it was in my favour so who can whinge? ;)

Yeah they refused to waive the coffee tax for us.

Hi swanning_it,

Did you specifically request the King or choose it on OLCI, or was that allocated.

I have a Double Double booked later this month for 2 adults and 2 kids and am wondering what I might get.

Being diamond, not fussed if I don't get exec room.

I was advised of the coffee tax when I ordered a "real" coffee on the second morning as the brewed rubbish they served the day before was, well......disappointing. I accepted the charge but we had already checked out, so when I went to pay for the coffee, the lady just said not to worry about it, so I gather it may have been more an inconvenience for them to actually process the $5 sale!

Originally offered double double with OLCI but was either 4th or 5th floor. I wanted higher than that (as sometimes the lower rooms can be noisy). When a higher floor came up, it only showed King rooms, so I grabbed one with the knowledge a rollaway would be needed. I had booked for 3 adults (which was a marginally more expensive rate) and they didn't charge for the rollaway. A double double would have been preferable, but the higher floor was more preferable than a double double!

I've decided to try all three for comparison when I'm there next April, so I hope that sticks until then (and longer). It'll be the mattress run you have when not having a mattress run......a Claytons run!!!

i think you'll find the old crown delightful and the other 2 'nostalgic'
