How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: Hilton Adelaide
Date: October 31 - November 2
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Deluxe
Received: Queen Junior Suite

Stay was ok, I'm back there next week so will reserve judgment until then. Turndown both nights. No express check-out provided. When I called up they delivered an empty envelope. Walking through the hall I noticed many express checkout envelopes carelessly placed beside the doors. Not a good look or particularly security conscious.

i think you'll find the old crown delightful and the other 2 'nostalgic'

Hmmm, I'm not sure I like that term, "nostalgic". :( That sounds more like real estate agent code for "run down and coughpy"!

Which one is the old CP?

Ah, yes our envelope was outside the door too, was not too impressed.

Mixed stay. For the most part great as usual, but some annoyances that I didn't expect from this hotel.

Online check-in showed no upgrade, so I left it for a while. Hotel did seem full on the website. Later attempt still showed same room type, but a corner room on 2nd highest floor opened up, so I took it. On arrival asked for upgrade but told not possible (first time not upgraded in this hotel). Asked if an upgrade for 2nd night could be arranged. Was promised to be contacted in room or lounge within the hour - but no contact made. That evening saw several better rooms available on the website. Quite disappointed with the lack of follow-through.

Advertised amenities (fruit platter, water) not in room on arrival. Water eventually came, but no fruit on any of the 3 nights.

Rate was pre-paid but the full charge was still held against my credit card for the duration of my stay (along with the $200 charge for incidentals). I don't mind the incidentals charge, but if the entire rate has been pre-paid, why hold that amount as well? Could be tough on a traveller with limited credit.

But the rest was positive - all staff (other than check-in) really fantastic. Loved their jobs and all seemed to get on with each other and have fun. All day bar is a good feature, that doesn't seem to be abused. The concierge app worked great - I booked specific times for making up the room, got extra bath amenities etc all organised through the app. Full breakfast in Oscar's, plus discounted buffet dinner and spa treatments being a Diamond guest in an Exec room.

Will stay again but won't be assuming upgrades will happen automatically.

Property: Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa
Date: October 30 - November 6
Status: Diamond & Gold
Booked: King Guestroom Garden
Received: King Panoramic Overwater Bungalow
Rate: 28,000 points plus 13,694 XPF (full rate 70,000 points) + extra for upgrade to OWB. 2nd night booked using Macquarie Visa free night.

I booked the nights in June & July as they became available. There are only 2 x rooms offered for the cheaper rate.
1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th nights booked under my Diamond membership & 2nd, 4th and 6th nights booked using +1's Gold membership.
After all bookings were locked in I emailed the hotel to request that they be linked and soon after received an email offering an upgrade to a King OWB. I negotiated the rate down to 72,000 XPF (approx AU$920) for the whole seven days
:).

On checkin we had been upgraded to a Panoramic OWB!!!

Welcome card, champagne, coconut biscuits and sparkling water on arrival.
Continental breakfast each morning with upgrade of US$10 to cooked offered.
On final night a box with a little bottle and a cork stopper containing the hotel's logo was on the bed at turn down. Not sure what we could use it for
.

We loved our OWB and the 7 days just flew!
Meals were expensive in the hotel but local restaurants offer free transport to their establishments so we dined out on 4 nights.

So in the end, for AUD300 (or thereabouts) + 28000 points you got a Panoramic OWB? That sounds pretty cool. Any pics to follow??? ;)

I take it there was no exec. lounge?

Property: Hilton Singapore
Date: Late October
Status: Diamond
Booked: Standard King Room
Received: Large corner room (not really a suite) on Executive Lounge floor.

I used half points/half pay. Everything in the room was as normal - even though the room had a sort of odd narrow extension that had a couch. The Executive Lounge person was rather snobbish. The front desk were very proactive in booking me a taxi the night before I left - I didn't realise taxis were so hard to get in Singapore on Tuesday mornings.

Yep - it was a really good deal when you consider that the Panoramic OWBs go for around AU$1200 per night incl. breakfast.
Until I embraced this whole hotel status/points/upgrade caper I only ever dreamed that we would ever stay in a room like this!
No exec lounge unfortunately.

I'll try and post some pics when I have time.

Property: Hilton Sydney
Date: November 8
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Guestroom Plus
Received: King Relaxation Room

I had a look at on-line checkin when it opened but was only offered rooms on floors 22-26 so decided to leave it until I got there.
On arrival I asked if there was a possibility of a larger room and was told I had been upgraded
:).

2 bottles of water in room.
Full breakfast this morning in Glass.

I trust you're not placing personal enjoyment ahead of AFF obligations? ;)

I do know what you mean with the "dreaming of rooms"! I now look back on our expensive hotel "paid in cash" stays, pre-AFF, with an expression of dismay! That however, is soon pushed to one side when friends ask why it is that I'm so often staying in suites!!! I just reply that I'm secretly a rock star!

I'm liking what I hear about diamond benefits at H-SYD more and more. You did however, fail to mention the coffee tax?????? Applied, check yes, not applied, check no!

OT but can anyone advise what the $19 self park option is at Hilton Adelaide?
I'm there from Wed-Sat this week and tossing up between a hire car I've booked and just getting cabs to and from airport and to my venue near the Ent Cent
It's probably much of a much if the parking is only $19 daily

I didn't ask about 'real' coffee  as I didn't want to be knocked back and I knew I would soon be in the QF J lounge to enjoy one.

Not sure about the parking option but you can get the free tram to and from the Entertainment Centre from right outside the Hilton. The taxi would only be about $25 each way to and from the airport.

Didn't try to make it out to Nui?

Probably my best deal ever was the mistake rate of $77/aud a night for a room at hilton bora bora nui + OWB upgrade. I did a TR around here somewhere I think.

Something very special about that area!

I left my run a little late to book Bora Bora. Points stays have to be booked a year out.
But... I'll definitely be doing a visit in the future.
Lucky you, taking advantage of the mistake rate.

Syd Hilton
Diamond
booked lowest govt rate room
got 39th floor ( a room with a stupid auto minibar with no spare shelf)
"fully booked no others available" which would be believable if there weren't any on a dummy booking!

Prawns were back in the EL

No express envelope ( again)
brekky at glass
Coffee took forever to arrive "there a charge" yes i know
bill didn't arrive so i left

Am a bit underwhelmed by H syd at the prices they are charging this year

Not sure about the self parking. We used the valet parking as it allows multiple entry, exit each day. Usually have to give them 20 mins to bring the car to the front of hotel. Traffic in Grote & Gouger St can be quite heavy at certain times of the day.

I don't think I've ever seen any spare space in the auto minibars there... I've resorted to using a cold sink filled with water to keep drinks cool or just popping up to the lounge whenever I get a little thirsty... Agreed that the prices this time of year are ridiculous, I've got a few for around $250 a night in December though (Sunday's for Monday work)
