How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

In the Perth VA lounge and there is a triangular promo-advert (what do they call these things?) that screams "Free Lounge Access". "Exclusively for SG & WP VA members during their stay". All sounds nice enough but link on 'thingy' is not working: HHonors.com/Velocity . Is this some long-gone superceded promotion that passed me by? Is it all about to drop and only the VA lounge in Perth are hip to it? Or is it a con. Connie, are you hearing me? I haven't spend a dime in your establishments since my comp Diamond status lapsed. Something to think about.

It's been around for a while. Do a search and it should come up (I can't as search doesn't work for me here in PNG).

Booked: King Deluxe Room
Received: King Executive Room
Status: Diamond
When: 27-28 August
Property: Adelaide

One of those upgrades which isn't an upgrade. All the rooms are the same size so no benefit there. The only advantage to this room is the executive benefits which I receive as a Diamond anyway.
The executive lounge was small but pleasant but had a very limited food selection. The cheese platter was almost empty when I arrived and was not replenished.
Had breakfast downstairs but it was a disaster. Waited for ages to be seated. Stood for ages at the counter waiting for someone to take an eggs order.
Was never offered coffee. Chased down a waiter for coffee. Waiter did tour of restaurant offering everyone else refills before coming to my table to pour my first coffee.
Coffee was undrinkable dishwater. Ordered a proper long black which took ages to arrive. No mention of a charge though I'm yet to check the account.
As soon as the long black arrived every waiter suddenly offered to refill the mug of dishwater.
By the time the eggs arrived everything else was cold. Buffet closing so no chance to go back for hot food.
Really poor pastry selection. Dreadful supermarket micro (not even mini) croissants instead of the real thing.
No glasses at juice station. Eventually champagne flutes were delivered which didn't fit under the juice dispenser taps.
No newspaper brought to the room or available at breakfast.

Booked: King Deluxe 5 nights
Received: King Executive
Status: Gold
Property: Hilton Osaka

Upgrade was available to choose room on the mobile checkin

Very convenient to Osaka JR station. 4 minutes train to Shin-Osaka

Nice property, exec rooms renovated & good view.

Exec lounge OK. Food a bit meh but staff very friendly & accommodating. Brekkie available in the main restaurant also if you wanted.

Would stay here again easy

You're painting a picture here and it isn't pretty
I'm an infrequent visitor to Brekkie in all of my stays at various properties due to early starts, late nights and just plain laziness but my one visit to Brekkie in ADL was a fair bit better than that

Booked: King Deluxe
Received: Twin Executive
Status: Gold
Properly: Hilton Tokyo

No upgrade on mobile checkin. At hotel, apologised there were no King Execs available, would a Twin be OK

15 minutes walk to Shinjuku JR. Free shuttle bus up to 10pm.

Nice property although very big, lots of groups etc. Rooms OK

Exec lounge good. Food & drinks selection better than Osaka. Though closed earlier. Can have brekkie in 2 other restaurants if you want

Airport limousine stops at the hotel.

Might stay here again, 50/50. Nice property but a bit far from main JR & Metro transport lines ( it was 38 degrees, less walking the better !! )

Did you write your choice of eggs on the white piece of paper to the left of the egg station?

Yes and left it while I chose some bacon. It was orphaned.
There was a waiter shuffling back and forth behind the egg station but she ignored me.
She was later distracted by the need to supply the ill-fitting champagne flutes to the juice station.
So after I got the bacon I picked up my order slip and stood there trying to wave it at anyone who would take notice.
Eventually another woman emerged from the kitchen, stood behind the other hot food counter and asked why I hadn't given it to her already.
I just smiled, told her my table number and said thank you.

I resisted the temptation to complain on the spot so I'm making up for it now.
I wanted to relax and I wasn't in the mood to be the difficult customer.
May email them later.

Going back maybe 4 years (so well before renovations) I had a couple of stays at ADL Hilton and the breakfasts were superb -- friendly, full table service and nothing was too much trouble. Have been disappointed with the Hilton in my past two stays (breakfasts for one, front desk staff for another) so am tending to stay elsewhere. Though my diamond status is still a pull factor and I have managed some decent upgrades there in the past.

Last 2 stays for Sydney as Diamond

Date: Sunday 14th Aug
Booked: Guestroom Plus
Rate: HH sale $203 prepaid
Received: King Suite

Stayed for my birthday which must have helped the upgrade but no amenity to mention in the room unlike other years when I would receive a card, balloon and chocolates. But a king suite at this price was a fantastic upgrade and as a bonus was showing in the booking the night before.

Date:Sunday 28th Aug
Booked: Guestroom plus
Rate: HH sale $169
Receive: Relaxation Room

Upgrade showing day before arrival which is nice and was not expecting it after previous stay and the rate I paid. After going to the room we went to the lounge for a coffee and on our return there was a card, box and bag of macaroons on the coffee table. My partner opened the card and I am like what is, what is it and she replies with its our 25th stay at Sydney. Box contained the metal luggage tag with name etched onto it.

Does anyone know if there is another milestone stay after 25 otherwise will ask on my next stay.

Does anybody know if the Guest Rooms at H BNE have been renovated like the deluxe and executive yet? I'm up there for a big gala in November and hotels usually book out around this time of years so not counting on a decent upgrade, especially since I've always had pretty coughpy experiences at BNE...

I'm here right now. I can't say I noticed anything different to my stay here a year ago, but I also wouldn't really notice that kind of thing unless there was an obvious issue. Those annoying glass desks are still the same, I can tell you that much. If there is something specific you want me to check or a photo, happy to do that, but get back to me soon as will be checking out in a few hours.

Geez, this completely passed me by. I wonder if its finished now? Can't find anything on the web that doesn't end up leading to a dead page link at hhonors.

Lack of upgrades to exec and the subsequent loss of lounge access has been one of the major contributing factors in me moving away from Hilton this last year.

welcome to AFF mingzie..what other Hiltons have you stayed at? Any standout ones?

thank you! I've been a long time lurker but just signed up to post my experiences. I appreciate this thread very much, as I'm sure a lot of people do. It is very entertaining and informative to read through.

I am a leisure traveller but I've been to KL doubletree, KL hilton, conrad singapore, Hilton sukhimvit BKK, sydney multiple times.

Doubletree KL and Hilton Sydney are definitely stand out ones. doubletree KL for its insanely cheap points rate and top service. other Hiltons I listed are not worth the price/amenities IMO.

Hilton Sydney, imo, is on another level. Happy to report that I was able to pay for a substantially discounted upgrade to Relaxation Suite for both rooms for remaining nights on my previous stay. Glass breakfast was also substantially better than the last time I visited. Small things such as waffles being available, Gyoza being replaced with a much better Coriander/Spinach pastry (thank God), American Hash actually being edible and soft this time, and food constantly replenished and fresh. Lounge staff are saints and treat us like royalty. Front desk, not so much. A lot of pretentious and unhelpful staff down at Front Desk (excluding one of the male duty managers who was very pleasant). At least in our experience, we feel like they went out of their way to impede our stay as if to scoff at the rates we were paying and the way we were dressed, even simple things like combining 2 rooms onto one folio was difficult and told it absolutely could not been done).

Relaxation Suite at HSYD is definitely the best room we've ever been in, having paid for top suites double the price and size that were not as good. The bed, spa bath and layout are insanely good. Evening canapes and coughtails were on point and one of the new bartenders on duty is extremely skilled!

Atm, Hilton Sydney is our favourite hotel in the world. It also simultaneously manages to be one of the worst hotels in the world if you are a non elite in a shoebox room with no lounge access or breakfast.

Very keen to stay at HSW in the future as well once we road trip down to Melb.

Are the waffles back at Glass? I was utterly dismayed to see the waffles replaced by some fried dough 2 weeks ago. Would be great to know it's returned. :D Agree with you the gyozas are real put-offs.

Just got back from USA for the past 18 days.

1 of the hotels was Doubletree Orlando downtown.

Had a standard room 6 nights ( 2 x queen ) booked for $144 USD per night. Just before I departed saw a prepaid rate at $97 USD for same room.

Not only did I save the $47 per night but they gave me full breakfast for 5 people for 6 days ( 30 vouchers ). 4 people staying in the room and 1 daughter that lives next door was able to join us every morning. Have stayed there 3 times in past 6 weeks and although no upgrade as GOLD they have always looked after me with anything I need.

I stayed at 8 different properties ( over 18 days ) and all 8 gave me full breakfast for 4 people. ( The exception as stated above ). Early check in every time, bottled water everytime. So very different to AUS

Currently at the Conrad Macao where as Hhonors Gold I received an upgrade to a suite and lounge access for three. The service in the lounge was extraordinary. Staff moved mountains to please. coughtails were excellent and yum cha was served at breakfast. Didn't have to eat out. At $250 a night, it's amazing value.
