How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Currently at the Conrad Macao where as Hhonors Gold I received an upgrade to a suite and lounge access for three. The service in the lounge was extraordinary. Staff moved mountains to please. coughtails were excellent and yum cha was served at breakfast. Didn't have to eat out. At $250 a night, it's amazing value.
That one is definitely on my list of 'must stay' properties.

Nice! They are very generous at that property and have an impressive buffet breakfast. Wish Macao would be more interesting so I could justify going back for another stay.

Oh I just checked and saw it is on Cotai. Awful place. The reclaimed land between the original islands of Taipa and Coloane is just a Las Vegas style casino strip.
I found Macau very interesting but only the old colonial part on the mainland. Especially the strip along the west coast of the peninsular.

Wouldn't mind if it's like Vegas with all the good shows and atmosphere but Macao is all about gambling and the sex trade, which is fair enough because this is what most of the people who go there are looking for.

I agree the old part is interesting but you can cover almost everything in one visit. I've been there twice (once stayed in Taipa) and my second in Cotai was boring. Luckily the Conrad is so nice and rates are usually decent that it didn't feel like total waste of time.

As much as it pains me, I'm going to have to eat humble pie ... again!

I had another stay at DT-CNS and it seems to be growing on me just a little. Once more, I was upgraded to a water view (not a bad view) and got my comp nibbles and drinks. Room is OK and it's closer to the airport. At $35 cheaper than H-CNS it's starting to feature more prominently in my thinking.

Oh, and the gift is 2 bottles of water and choc coated macadamias, the parking out front is free (on the street) and the breakfast is reasonable.

Can you tell me if the street parking in front of Hilton is free? The valet parking is not that expensive and I'm thinking whether to use it or not.

Last time I was there it was metered parking until about 5.30pm weekdays, and until about 11.30am on Saturdays. So, overnight, Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday was free, from memory.

Token for self-parking in the Hilton car park is $9.00 (per exit).

Thats not a huge margin between the two. Is your choosing of the DT more a signal of DT overachieving or Hilton CNS being lacklustre?

This choice is going to appear on my radar quite soon - looking for an excuse to get up to CNS this year.

Happy ending: my unhappy experience in ADL has resulted in some HH points as compensation.

Unfortunately my last stay at the H-CNS was a bit lacklustre. Breakfast and lounge offerings really quite tired. Service still great and I always feel very welcome. Suspect if I wasn't a regular and just stayed there purely objectively I'd be inclined to try elsewhere before returning.

I'm not a regular (in fact I've never been to H-CNS). I'll report back in two weeks after my week long stay in the executive spa suite.

Street parking in front of Hilton is not free and often not many spaces. When I stay ay Hilton I always choose valet parking ($15/day). DT has undercover parking at $6 a day (self park ... no valet option), or free on street (which has been plentiful both time I've stayed). The valet option at Hilton allows as many in and outs as you want, where as the cheaper self park option ($9) is per park, which can be far more expensive than valet.

DT is certainly not over achieving and Hilton is not absolutely lacklustre either, it's just an observation really. That figure is not huge in itself, but it is a 30% discount over Hilton which actually equates to over $1000 per annum back into my travel budget just on the rate alone. Add another $15/night in parking and we're talking around $1500. It's worthy of consideration ... for me at least.

I like H-CNS, but my last few stays have been odinary. No great issue, but the lounge has been overcrowded, no gift or card and rates seem to be ridiculous between now and year end. I guess that's a good sign for H-CNS, but not so good for regulars that have become accustomed to a quieter lounge and good rates. If I didn't have gov't rates, I'd certainly be staying elsewhere.

Sums up my experiences this year perfectly. Nothing bad but not as polished as before - a bit surprising given a new GM would have, I thought, sparked a bit of new life. My gifts have been handed to me on check-in (local chocolate or coffee beans) in the brown bag with 2 waters (although waters also sometimes already in the room). Fine but not as classy as being in the room (and inconvenient with other bags). I have found the lounge unpleasant a bit of late when full. It's also clear some regulars (who know Gemma's rules and her style) get on fine but those who don't sometimes get put offside and colours the lounge atmosphere. There have been some nice hot dished lately though.

I wonder how often the boardroom is used or if the lounge could actually be expanded?
