How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

ive found HSW to give regular suite upgrades ( as a BIB diamond) but i think it my history of having paid for suites there in the past , regular stays and potentially the 8 stays i have booked for this year that probably help

Sydney is just a no go upgrade for me
Brisbane is the same

HBNE has only 5 suites so your chances to get one complementary are minimal. I used to stay there almost every week when living in MEL and never got more than 5 suite upgrades per year. HSW has more suites hence they can be more generous to diamonds.

I'm actually getting regularly suite upgrades in SYD, at Sheraton...

Status: Gold
Booked: King Exec Room
Rate: $230 pn
Received: King Exec with Harbour Views

Got a lovely greeting upon arrival, as my husband and I was celebrating our anniversary. Got a huge fruit platter and bottle of wine.
They did miss the special requests though with foam pillows and additional towels.
Lounge is closed for renovations at the moment and services moved downstairs to Mitchells Bar and Grill. Would not be a problem if it wasnt so bad. Food is bad bar finger food, heated up frozen snack packs or sandwiches. Replenishment slow or non existing, afternoon treats a hit and a miss (one day there, other two there was nothing). I understand from other patrons that it is normally not this bad.
Took up the Amex offer and split the bill over 2 cards.

Property: Hilton Chicago
Date: Jan 15-17
Status: Diamond
Booked: Standard room
Rate: US90 ++
Received: The app told me I'd been upgraded but it was still a pretty basic room. Can't imagine what the booked room would have been like.

Access to the Executive Lounge, with typical breakfast and evening provisions. Hardly anyone in the lounge, probably due to the Martin Luther King public holiday weekend. Nice view from the lounge overlooking Lake Michigan, although the weather was so foul on the first day that nothing could be seen because of the mist and fog.

Breakfast: Buffet served in the Swan Room (Adelphi was closed, damn normally would have got free drinks and canapés!)

Did they provide anything at all? This is what you missed out on, we thought it was very nice.

Quick one. As Accor plat and HH diamond, H-BNE or Sofitel? (Assuming no price difference)

Sofitel for me, though not a huge differential. Depends on what you will do in hotel - if lounge is key then sofitel wins easily (better breakfast in lounge, more comfortable, and better - though shorter - canapes). Spa at Sofitel is also very good. Room service Hilton wins. Location pretty even.

I always feel Sofitel stays could be great, but a couple of things tend to let me down each stay so it is still likely i will frequent the H-BNE.

HSYD
Booked: King Guestroom Plus x 2 nights
Received: King Suite :D

Admittedly, it's an upgrade for a milestone stay but HSYD has always looked after me very well and always greeted me with "Welcome home" which I find rather amusing but endearing. I understand there has been a lot of negativity about HSYD lately but they do look after their regulars. I guess it's just like QF prioritising op-ups for P1 over WPs, they've told me before that they do struggle to upgrade everyone as being more of a business hotel, they have a lot of diamonds staying with them all the time.

I remember reading in the past she reached the 25th stay.I would take a guess at 50.

And maybe received another personalised luggage tag. IIRC the last one was a nice silver one, perhaps a gold one this time.

I am not a fan of the luggage tag as I prefer the VA gold one I currently use.But maybe I should use mine for when I stay at Syd Hilton next time it may earn me some extra brownie points.I have been told they are unable to tell from the checkin screens how many stays you have which may explain why they always go through the same scripted greeting message.

Sorry, I'm back. Yes 50, first stay with HSYD back in Apr 2015. Received wine and chocs, haven't seen any luggage tag yet but last year that came a day after so here's hoping. :)

DISCLOSURE: I too, have generally, been quite well looked after here.

But their more recent failings, since the ownership/management change - are nothing to do with "too many diamonds and not enough upgrades to go around" - but everything to do with the hotel deliberately having little to no interest in the "spirit" of program benefits.

For me it would be the Sofitel. The Hilton, to me, is impersonal. As a diamond you are checked in efficiently and sent of to your room with little or no "pizazz". With the Sofitel they seem to genuinely want to greet and welcome the Platinum members to the hotel, usually the GM or house manager will come to the front desk and personally welcome you and everyone seems to be friendly, smile at you and say bonjour. It sometimes is very hard to get any sort of smile from Hilton staff.

My comments are of H-BNE only and don't include others and are my personal views only YMMV
