How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: DT MEL
Status: Diamond
Date: Feb 2017
Rate: Govt - $113!
Booked: Interior Twin
Received: Twin with a window, high floor. Two drink vouchers.

Coffee tax: don't know

I booked this by ringing the hotel as I was on the Skybus into the city at about 6pm. I could see the rate but due to regular Sunday arvo system maintenance could not book online. We walked in the door about 40 minutes later to find the vouchers, chocolates and personalised welcome note already in the room. For those playing at home - yes Justin was on duty.

A brilliant rate for any hotel in the city, and I got a couple of drink vouchers (any bottled beer, or a glass of house wine) and breakfast including cooked to order eggs.

I didn't order a coffee so don't know if the tax is in place.

I was there that night. Sorry to have missed you. The lounge nibbles were great - you did luck out.

Property: HH CNS
Status: Diamond
Date: Feb 2017
Booked: King
Received: Balcony king. Chocolates.

Coffee tax: I asked if there was a charge and was told there was. But they were so quiet that I think they wanted to give the barista something to do! So in this case I wasn't charged.

Do they now actually gave a barista?? And I thought all rooms had balconies in H-CNS?

Property: Conrad Centennial Singapore
Status: Diamond
Dates: 8-12 Feb
Booked: Classic King (Company rate)
Received: Executive King

Upgraded to what is ultimately the same room on a higher floor, with a Nespresso machine. Was very busy for Chinese New Year, still. No other gift or amenities. Given lounge access, of course, but I was out every night, and the breakfast wasn't a scratch on Oscars, so didn't use it. Hotel in desperate need of refurbishment, and have it on good authority that they are targeting completion of that good work in 2017.

Probably my last stay as HH Diamond after taking advantage of the nil challenge status match a while back.

Cheers,
Matt.

Depends what you call new. I got the impression he had been there 2-4 months. He lived in Sydney the last 10 years if I remember correctly.

comes from Osaka and has been in Cairns for a few months with his partner. Absolutely delightful guy.....very service orientated

I actually don't mind that H-SYD is rewarding more loyal members. If you ever get on to that side, it seems you are set for life (check out the upgrade reports in this thread!).

One thing that makes me not want to stay here anymore though, is the high sky rates lately. $253 on absolute cheapest dates, are you kidding me? who pays this much and how are they getting such large occupancy rates?

they must be raking in a hell lot of business this year.

Sky high is when they are $500+.
Over Jan I noticed on Sun/Mon rates were often about $180. Last year when watching I noticed Sunday rates in particular fell as dates got closer.

But when the ibis budget in Sydney doesn't go below $150 in my experience, I can understand why Hilton feels they can charge more

They fill the hotel with large group bookings. I am sure I heard someone at the hotel say they had a group of 400 checking out the otherday.

I need to be in Sydney at the end of the month. Looked at Hilton and cheapest was just under $500/night! As a diamond, I'm keen to stay there, but that's taking the proverbial. I can stay at the Four Seasons for $100 less per night!

Unless you know someone at HSYD who can guarantee proper upgrade you shouldn't be so keen about paying good money and staying in a cubical.

FS SYD must be one of the worst properties in their portfolio yet the base rooms are still much better than HSYD and an outdoor swimming pool, a rarity in the CBD, is nice bonus.

If you don't mind the FS location then better check out Shangri-la. If price is similar this would be my choice.
