I thought so. But drross mentioned Hilton not having a minibar, so I took that as H-CNS not the DT. All good.
I never even noticed the Hilton reference and just thought it was still refering to the DT.

Property: HH Shenzhen - Futian

Pretty new business hotel at the tail end of the business district in Futian Shenzhen. Staff told me the hotel is about 2-3 years old ... may be true I didn't check, its done some work already, but is generally in top nick. Not far by taxi from most shopping or business stuff you'd want to see in the CBD. Not a lot in the immediate area within walking distance, though there is a large restaurant type area within a few minutes walk.
Tried hard and I appreciated that they did, but it missed the mark for me. This is a true business hotel that caters mainly to Chinese travellers I think. Fair warning to others, English here is extremely limited, even up in the EL. Everyone is cordial and lovely of course but keep google translate close at hand, even if you want to ask for a mineral water or a coffee - this is not a dig at them by the way, China is China and the onus is on me to speak the language - but fair warning. Hard product is mostly up to the high standard you would expect of an asian HH. The EL suffered several equipment failures when I was there which took days to rectify but you only need to ask staff to have your wishes fulfilled.
My expectation is that HH Shenzhen Shekou perhaps 30 mins west of Futian would be a more tourist oriented hotel - next trip I'll give it a go
Was looking at Hilton properties for my trip and all looked a bit meh... ended up booking Grand Hyatt and was very impressed by the property and service. Next time I hope to try the St Regis which is also in the same area. Wish they open Conrad in Shenzhen.

Had some great experiences in Hiltons in China. Namely Hilton Chengdu (bit out of the way, but lovely and brand new), Hilton Shenzhen (also brand new). Even Chongqing was a bit dated but a great stay.
I assume "pp" refers to "per room"?...

Booked: Hilton Deluxe Plus

At the time of booking, deluxe plus was the cheapest option. Its their highest non-exec room. Room blurb says on top four floors and room comes with a half bottle of wine.
At check-in told I'd been upgraded to an executive room. Now I know for a fast the deluxe plus and executive rooms are the same, except the executive room comes with EL access (this was confirmed to me in writing previously when I asked about the difference). At this point I let the check-in agent know that as a diamond, this is exactly what I've book and not an upgrade. I asked about a suite but told non-available. I had briefly checked online just prior and knew there were, but wasn't sure what type. The agent told me they can only upgrade to a relaxation suite and not higher and that there were no relaxation suites available. I pointed out the wording says "space available" upgrade and there was clearly space available.
Not getting any where I took what I was given and got in the lift. Low and behold I'm on level 37 (ie, not top four floors). So I've been given a room downgrade. I get into the room, no wine. Strangely there are some chocolates wishing me a happy anniversary. At this point I'm wondering if they've just stuffed up my room. I also checked online and there IS availability for a relaxation suite.
So back down to reception. I mentioned the chocolates with the anniversary note and wondered if I had the wrong room. I'm informed that's the correct room. I then queried the availability of the relaxation suite. According to reception none are available. I asked what would happen if I booked that now, what would happen. No useful response. I then queried why I had received an inferior room and no wine. I'm asked to wait while she disappears to the back office for about 5 minutes. I'm presented with two options. I can have a higher floor room (not a suite) but its right next to something or other that's noisy or I can keep my room and they'll upgrade my half bottle to a full bottle.
Pretty unimpressed. Took the quieter option. Wine delivered after 20 minutes.
Today requested a 3pm checkout as I have a meeting that finishes at 2pm and wanted a quick shower before leaving. Much haggling and a big fuss was made and they finally gave me 2:30pm.
Not feeling any love. I won't maintain diamond and will hopefully to the Amex charge card and some status with other brands. Will give those a try when I'm next in Sydney. The rooms really are tiny and the bathroom is very squishy. Also surprised that there are no coffee machines in the high level rooms. Only some instant coffee.

Yes absolutely we are spoiled for choice and quality with 5* hotels in China however WA certainly at top of the tree - it is a superb hotel and managed accordingly. It is also one of the HHs where status is honoured if booked through 3rd party - that is a big plus.China is one of those countries where 5* hotels are usually reasonably priced which means we are spoiled for choice and Hilton properties are not always the best value.
Having said that, next week will stay at WA Shanghai
H-SYD works for some (who stay frequently), but for most of us low tier plebs ( who supposedly have top tier) H-SYD is the dregs that would only be considered if absolutely nothing of value was available. I personally think it's a reward for putting up with countless numbers of cough room allocations, that they almost feel guilty that they charged you as a quality hotel, and gave you rubbish for so long and you've been gullible enough to wear it, that they must at long last throw the monkey a banana!
There are much better SYD accommodation houses for similar money that no one needs to put up with derogatory service and lies from nobodies.

I have only had 4 stays here - 1st was a comp night when I held Cent - I checked in and did not advise I was Dia - they figured that out and arrived at my room door within 30mins to upgrade me to Suite.
2nd stay I booked through C-Trip I think or another 3rd party at a great rate for 2 nts. I actually had to stay a 3rd nt so extended but was charged a significantly higher rate than 2 previous. OK that's probably only fair but it was a big diff.
4th stay last May I booked through Citi Stay 4 Pay 3 promo - full Dia benefits honoured for duration of stay incl upgrade to Suite and full a-la-carte brekky without question. However - I was attending a trade show and was breakfasting very early when zero foreign manager on duty in restaurant - just a total schemozzle with only Chinese staff on duty. I emailed guest services post stay and they promised to address this problem imm - I have not been back to stay since.
Biggest downer with WA is zero EL - The Long Bar is a great place to sit and chill but you do pay for everything. Will be interested to get your thoughts boomy.

Well just discovered another surprise. Went to use the hand moisturiser and flicked the lid open. Clearly not a fresh one. Inside the lid is full of someone else's hair! Charming.
That's a lie. They can upgrade you to any type of room available include King Suite. Sad to see diamond members keep being treated with contempt in Sydney.
