How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

So the other person (who does not have the same surname) can sign for room service, etc.
Or is that very 1990's hotel systems??

I've never been challenged on anything I've signed to my room. Not sure if that's good or bad, but sometimes my partner will just write my surname anyway. I truly don't know if they check the signature. It's probably mainly there for dispute resolution I'd guess.

I just feel its not worth complicating the booking unless absolutely necessary. Use the comments box if you want someone else to check in.

Why add a second name at all? I book for two guests but never add the second name. I am the only one that checks in, however.
I do the same. I will only add the second name if I am not likely to be the one to check-in.

Me too, but it was a points bonanza for me:

It involved other promos, but a 2 night stay netted the following starting with the Q2 promotion:
I guess it pays to keep up to date with all the promotions and sign up.

Same. Keep it simple

Property: Hilton Auckland
Date(s): 7-9 July 2012
Rate: Great Getaway NZD209 (less 20%)

Upgraded: King Harbour View Deluxe Plus
Received: Letter from GM, Internet Access, FOUR bottles of still water in room daily, full breakfast in Fish Restaurant daily, vouchers for two drinks per day in Bellini Bar (which I used mainly for coffees rather than alcohol.

Hotel is a little bit irritating as rooms face towards the neighbouring building and you need to keep the curtains closed for any privacy. Staff in Fish were just wonderful - nothing too difficult and always smiling. They made me feel very special.

I really missed not having an Executive Lounge here, though. Why isn't there one here?

Property: Doubletree by Hilton Sheffield Park
Rate: £67/night
Booked: Queen Hilton Guestroom
Upgraded: Queen Hilton Guestroom
Received: Breakfast in Glass Brasserie and a bottle of water.

No upgrade due to full tonight (confirmed that when I got up to my room), but no fruit platter this time. That being said, the room looks exactly the same as the supposedly upgraded one I received last week which didn't have a robe, yet this one does have a robe and slippers..... Received the standard cookie on check-in but after having polished off a few of them on the weekend thanks to the tin I bought it seems to have lost it's touch!

When we checked in here back in May, the check in person said "we're not big enough to have an Exec Lounge" when proffering the free drinks vouchers. Hardly an official reason, but that's what he said. :)

Hilton Auckland website shows they have 165 rooms and suites. Would seem to me they aren't big enough to have an Executive Lounge, but others may disagree.

It strikes me that Hilton Auckland wasn't planned to be a hotel, but it was more like a residence building that couldn't sell everything off the plan. I could be wrong, though.

Booked: King Hilton Guestroom
Upgraded: King Yarra Suite
Received: Non-personalised letter from GM, Internet Access, two bottles of water, Exec Lounge (where they smile and say "welcome back!" now), and breakfast for two in the restaurant.

Although I'm maintaining that Hilton Sydney has a nicer product, the friendliness of this hotel can't be understated. Need to send HSW a note about the staff member that came up to check on me when I missed answering my wake-up call - stunning service! (or maybe they were just checking that I wasn't dead)

Booking via a 3rd party you're not likely to get points. Is there any reason you didn't try use the best rate guarantee to book it for the same price via Hilton.com?

No points but I don't really care when the rate is that good.

Cancellation penalties were weird and quite different to Hilton.com. It did cross my mind but i didn't want to risk it to be honest. Perfectly priced and suited to us...I will happily take the exec floor upgrade for 5 nights and they can keep the points!

But you could have had your cake AND eat it too! ;) Oh well

Just to note, they're not obligated to give you bennies when you book via a 3rd party either, so that was lucky...
