How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Booked standard guest upgraded only to relaxation suite (17m2 damn you).

It was nice that this was waiting for me...

On closer inspection it was for Janelle on the occasion of her 60th birthday. Hopefully after the call to reception to advise them of the mistake Janelle should get her gift...

Snap! I stayed there 11 & 12 Aug and received the same benefits. My only issue was that they failed to wake me at 6:45am as requested with reception the night before.

I'm always on the lookout for good value HH redemptions (P+P) - but so far, nothing going for me at SYD or MEL. I have to get able to get 0.5c/point to trade them. SE Asian hotels, during busy periods, seem to offer generally good value however (sometimes half the revenue price).

I've just booked a P&P at the Conrad HKG for 25,000 + 1009 HKD which seemed by far the best rates and use of points. Now to see if they upgrade me. The NOR1 option was free to a Peak View room but I declined to bite ;)

Princess Fiona, why did you decline the NOR1 upgrade? Would that exclude you from a better upgrade?
I accepted the NOR1 upgrade in July at HOTP and on booking in, was offered to upgrade to a Relaxation Suite for $89 per night, which I accepted. Was that a good move?
As I am new to HH Gold, I am still feeling my way.
My next booking is the Hilton in Guangzhou for 6 nights in October. I booked the lowest price room for only A$120 per night. What is my best option for this booking?
Sorry for so many questions.

HOTP this week. i arrived late evening. no water, no welcome note, no fruit.. first visit for several years, after reading posts here i thought i'd give it another go - forgot how tiny the bathrooms were. no vouchers for internet ( wasn't told i needed vouchers until i checked out early next morning!!) lounge breakfast incredibly average. HSW wins hands down

Don't think it does exclude you from other upgrades, I don't want a peak view room anyway and have put in the comments box "Harbour View".

Hilton FIji
HH Diamond
Booked: Cheapest room for 7 nights on Great Getaway rate. (Studio beachfront?)
Received: 1 bedroom deluxe beachfront (no plunge pool)
Plus water (everyone gets these), free internet in room, free breakfast- full, at either restaurant
Invitation to managers drinks on Wed night.

Was very nice, had a long chat with the maintenance and facilities manager about expansion, the hotel and how it compares with other resorts around asia pacific.
Being from Perth, I won't be back in a hurry as I feel Nusa Dua and coughet (Khao Lak, particularly) are very similar and much more accessible. If I lived on the East Coast it would be a no-brainer.
Overall, really liked the hotel but at 100% capacity it could be a bit crowded at meal times and the screaming kids were a bit of a put-off at times. Will post a more full review soon.

I reckon its a pretty grey area. I never ever choose the nor1 upgrade myself. If I choose the cheapest room, then nor1 to a deluxe something then whats the go with my expected gold upgrade? Will I end up with a deluxe plus? Woud I have received the deluxe plus as a gold HH anyway (for no cost?)

So many reports here of folks booking std rooms and getting suites, but not for me, even when I push a bit (nicely of course) I don't have any luck.

I'll keep the Nor1 options in my back pocket I think. If I fail to get exec lounge upgrades then I'll pull out the NOR1 and see if a cheap upgrade will work.

Would it then be incredibly cheeky to:

- Book base room
- Check in and not receive exec lounge as HH Gold upgrade
- Ask for nor1 upgrade at the checkin desk (and gain exec lounge as a result), pay the fee,
- Then ask the checkin person for a HH gold upgrade on top of the nor1 purchase?

I have no idea ... and the HH site doesn't address, in a comprehensive way, how elite status and NOR1 interact.

I do sometimes take the NOR1 upgrades if I think they are good value as I figure that other people may think the same and there wont be any suites left for Status "free" upgrades.
I'm not sure whether this is logical or not.
