How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Hi

Thanks Straitman for the review of Fiji Resort operated by Hilton. I am sold and about to book 7 nights in May.
Has anyone seen inside the studio deluxe / plus rooms? We have a one year old so need a separate bedroom/living area. On the web site the "studio deluxe / studio plus" rooms are large (60sqm) & described as having separate living / dining areas, but I'm not sure if that means actual separate rooms.
While I'm be hoping for an upgrade to the 1br as HH Gold, nothing is guaranteed so want to be sure the actual room we book would be OK for 7 nights with a baby.
I'm also assuming that the property honors the free b'fast amenity for HH gold & spouse so we can book room only?

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Fiji Resort and Spa last week for our 20th wedding anniversary & thoroughly enjoyed it. We received the hadwritten welcome note, as well as on the evening of our anniversary we got back to the apartment after dinner and found a congratulations card and a cake in the fridge, with 'Happy 20th Wedding Anniversary!" written in chocolate around the edge of the plate! :D

We were also upgraded to a one bedroom beachfront apartment and received complimentary breakfast.

As straightman described bathroom at one end, kingsize bedroom in the middle, and kitchenette / dining/lounge at the other end. They have opaque glass with wood-frame sliding doors so you can close off each section, but it wouldn't shut out the noise all that much. There is also a roller blind on the beachfront glass section for privacy as well.

The photo is from the bedroom looking to the front.

Congrats on the upgrade to Diamond, seems like we need to strive for Diamond not just Gold.

Ta ... achieved via BIB with 28th stay (34 nights - 54K base points) completed Dec 27th.

(Had to add a late booking as pointstretcher in FLL needed to be cancelled* after USair canned a flight back in Oct.)

*That was a good experience as well. It was after 6pm in FLL when I called HHonors to cancel (past the cut off time); after advising I would not make it due to a cancelled flight the agent verified my flight had indeed been cancelled and gave a full refund of the HHonors points there and then!

I'm HH nothing, well Silver on MVP Mattress run ;)
Checked in tonight to Hilton Orlando, booked King Bed Exec Floor, received same. Went to Exec lounge asking about Internet access and received the free internet access code for Gold and Diamond ( advised to do this by the luggage porter)
Happy Days :)

As described above, sliding wooden panelled doors assist to separate into "sections" for bathroom, sleeping and eating/lounge areas.

When we went 3 years ago (with an 18 month old), I'll have to check my records for the room types we had, as we moved between rooms (as I had booked a 3 day package and a separate 4 day package, using different room types).

We put mini #1's cot in the eating/lounge area and pulled the drapes - she slept really well. Hope your experince is the same. Make sure you get a local nanny for at least a day and have some "us" time.

I'm also assuming that the property honors the free b'fast amenity for HH gold & spouse so we can book room only?
It worked for us 3 years ago and looks like it worked for others as commented above.

The policy on breakfast hasn't changed at NRT since our first stay at NRT in 2002-always been given full brekkie even as gold.

HH Diamond
Property: Hilton Sydney
Room booked: Two King Deluxe rooms
Rate: $279 (less 20% Hilton Macquarie discount)
Received: Upgraded to two King Relaxation rooms, two bottles of water, two cookies.

I was all fired up ready to argue my way to two Executive rooms (as they were available online) but I was hugely surprised to receive a super upgrade to a King Relaxation, doubly so given I'd booked two rooms and was travelling with my boss. The only disappointment was the continuining inabililty of this Hilton to correctly apply the Hilton Macquarie discount. Unlike the Hilton on the Park . . .

Property: Hilton on the Park Melbourne
Room booked: King Guestroom
Rate: $227 and $217 (two nights) (less 20% Hilton Macquarie discount)
Received: Upgraded to two King Executive room, two bottles of water (only on the second night). This is the only Hilton I've stayed at that applies the 20%. In fact, even before I'd checked in, the 20% discount had been reflected on the rate part of the booking in my HHonors profile. Very good.

I actually find it a nuisance when they randomly pre-apply the HPC rate. The Hilton Macquarie T&C state that they HPC rate is to be applied at check-in.

When you have a few bookings on the go and the hotels are inconsistent with when and how they apply the HPC rate it is very easy to get mixed up with who has and who has not applied the rate.

It probably does not matter when it is applied but they should all do it the same way IMHO.

While I agree - I do prefer prepaid rates to be changed before they charge my card (when I have advised them of the Mac card number!).

I have a stay in Parmelia Hilton in a couple of weeks and that is already showing the $87 rate.

On this score I generally print my initial confirmation to a .pdf and save it to a USB key drive. The initial confirmation is the only one that shows the actual comments (e.g. Premium Club Member, Spouse Stays free etc.)

I can then compare with any rate adjustments. (Had an issue once at the Melbourne HOTP when they claim the discount had already been applied when it had not).

HOTP Melbourne - booked on the anyweekend anywhere rates in Dec last year, 10 - 14 Mar - confirmed exec room but took the paid upgrade to exec relaxation suite, 2 bottles of water and I hit the exec lounge for breckie and drinks every night.

BUT THEN......

Melbourne was just a taster to the beginning of a 2 week birthday trip ending up at the Conrad in Bali. All the tips from here and wheeling and dealing paid off and I couldn't contain my happiness.

I redeemed 3 nights on points, then when the upgrade request came thru it confirmed a Conrad Suites ocean view for nil cost, then extra for a swim out exec room and an extra 260.00 for a private pool Exec Suite, the triple upgrade came thru :p:p:p:p. My personal assistant greeted me and escorted us to the Suite, right on the beach front, with a 4m x 10m private pool, waiting for me was a Birthday cake and a letter from the GM thanking me for spending my time with them. We hit afternoon tea at 3pm and no less than 12 different staff members said Happy Birthday to me in about 3 hrs between the afternoon tea and coughtails starting at 5pm, i'm sure the whole place knew. Full breckie each morning, afternoon tea and then coughtails every night, swimming in one of only 2 rooms with a private pool all day and relaxing. I truly did think i'd died and gone to heaven. Now all my birthdays will have to be spent here or else i'll be dissapointed! Late check out until 7pm and several spectacular meals here on the beachfront, 15% discount at the spa and also at the resturants, its low season atm, several people commented that it won't get busy again until easter/school holidays, so if you are thinking of sneaking off for a holiday to Bali do it now! Thankyou again to all the forum members that contributed to my 7 months of planning and plotting, I got Gold thru the fast track suggestions here at the forum, and it paid off just perfectly.:p

really love to hear a story that has a happy( or very happy) ending. Like you i love this site to get the extra benefits that go with being a frequent flyer.

Question for Hilton Elites: How likely is it to get an upgrade to executive floor now I've reached the lofty heights of Gold? ( Few stays booked at South Wharf and some in UK)
I should add that I'm not much of a gambler so if chances are few I will book the Exec Room to start with.

Last year I had 8 stays at the HSW as a Gold; I was given lounge access each time.

Generally I was allocated a room on a high "Executive" floor - although the lounge is on the 4th Floor. All rooms were on the East (city/river view) side.

as a gold upgraded every time except when the HOTP had the exec lounge closed over xmas time, which would be about 6 out of 7 stays since I got gold.

Thankyou both for your replies. Think I"ll change 1st HSW booking to a non -exec room and see what happens .
I can always have Shrek try his DYKWIA routine at check-in if all else fails ;p
