How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

And as a diamond i had 2 stays at ADL without an upgrade so last month stayed at the Stamford.
At least you had Lounge access - this is a Guaranteed Diamond benefit worldwide (at Hilton Hotels where a lounge is operating). Unlike some other programs.

It's a great rate, so book it as soon as possible.

A big word of caution for Perth hotels: Availbility is starting to become quite scarce over the next three months. All my TA and corporate booking contacts are telling me daily lack of capacity stories, the latest today being some C-level executives arriving tomorrow who've had to be booked into beach chalets.

So if you do have planned travel to Perth, book your accomodation as soon as possible to get what you want.

Just wait till CHOGM - that'll make rooms hard to find

When travelling through the USA recently I found the quality of Hilton properties to be quite variable. Is this consistent with what you guys have observed?

Example, one night recently I stayed at Newark airport. The toilet wouldn't flush so I went to the front desk to ask them to sort it out for me while I went out for the evening. It still wasn't sorted out when I got back so I had to get into the cistern fix it myself (ala Kenny).

At LAX there was hair all over the bathroom that was not mine and clearly belonged to the previous occupant. :(

I'm hoping to come down later this week and it's either HSW or HI Flinders for me.

Will be going there as a Silver later this week, will be interesting to see how that affects my upgrades
Well, I am still showing Gold, so have booked my trip to HSW and got the Gold Upgrade in place for Exec Floor King.

Also did my 3 bookings for Hiltons in Europe and got an upgrade to a Double Double Exec room at the Paris Arc de Triomphe on an award stay locked in.

Lindsay - aren't the upgrades only confirmed at checkin?
I thought you couldn't lock them in in advance?

Although I have noticed some of my bookings change a day or two out to better rooms.

Correct though you can always (often) see what comp upgrades they have already given you about a day ahead.

In the US I find full service hotels to usually be poor value-especially if located near an airport(Hiltons or SPG).We prefer to stay in the country or burbs. Our favourite is Hilton Garden Inns-virtually identical.Always a large clean well appointed room.Complimentary full breakfast and internet for golds as well as diamond.
Often dont mind Hampton Inns-but you need to be a bit careful-some are quite old.Cheaper and not as good as HGIs.

One of SWMBO's favourite stays was at a HI in Lenox Ma.

A simple warm place...

Not sure if I'm reading your post correctly but just to clarify that Gold get free internet at all Hiltons.

See:
Complimentary High-Speed Internet Access

While registered at any hotel within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of brands, Gold HHonors Members will enjoy complimentary high-speed internet access. If two or more high speed offerings are available at a hotel, the Gold HHonors guest is provided access to a higher connection speed offering. This benefit is offered only for in-room access.

Whilst getting to the hotel I got tied up in traffic so that wonderful person (Lindsay Wilson) sent me a photo of Clare holding my beer for me.

Just to be fair I have also included a photo of Dolphin, the Exec lounge manager who also looked after us in an exceptional manner.

In the morning I had an interesting meeting with the Reservations Manager who was also very pleasant and helpful.

Thanks Lindsay, I appreciate the photos. Going to HSW shortly and getting quality pics of the accommodation is a challenge - tripadvisor has a few but people don't often name their photos in a useful way.
