How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

I'm Silver and stayed at Hilton Adelaide for the 2nd Test but with a QF booking so I could use a hotel voucher. SFA benefits as a Silver so got what I booked and only missed out on some points.

It's a pretty tired hotel and needs a reno. Bedding is really, really comfy. Room was clean and had a SHUB and severe shortage of available power outlets. Nothing accessible near the bed so had to unplug a valuable light to be able to plug in two things.

Terrific location but on Sunday mornings it's a ghost town. The markets were closed which is mystifying.

Adelaide Central Market is closed Sunday and Monday.
It's a regular thing. (For Adelaide)
The site between the Hilton and the market has been under construction for a while now.

Both stays as Diamond

DoubleTree Montreal Airport
1 night $279CAD
Booked King Room
Received King Studio Suite (paid the $10 upgrade fee with OLCI)
Short overnight stay - airport shuttle was good, room tidy and modern and staff at check in were friendly. Didn’t have breakfasty so can’t comment on that, but they did mention it was included as a Diamond.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square
1 night $205USD
Booked 2 Double Beds
Received King Junior Suite
Ongoing protests out the front of the hotel so provided a letter at check in explaining there was no house keeping, lobby bar was closed and a few other services were restricted/limited. Could hear the noise from our floor (39) when near the window so I’d be careful if staying on lower floors and noise bothers you. Check in staff were lovely and provided upgrade, 2 x breakfast vouchers and room credit. Also offered late check out of 2:30pm. Hotel was great, buffet breakfast spread was huge and the gym was impressive for a hotel set up. Location was good and found it easy to walk to everywhere I wanted in the area. Used our credit at the sky bar which had amazing views but the menu was a little underwhelming.

It wasn't a surprise as its well signed but it's one of the best things going in Adelaide so seems crazy to be closed on a Sunday. Very few cafes open in the area too. Construction didn't seem to be affecting ops too much on the Saturday.

Famously, QVM closes Monday and Wednesday - at least they save the weekend, when of course it's packed.
Agree that without the market, the Hilton is in a bit of a desert, particularly in the mornings. Depends on how far one wishes to walk. This may change once the redevelopment is finally completed.

Next Hotel Melbourne, Curio Collection by Hilton
Booked: Next level king room city view, upgraded to executive club king room (could select 6th or 14th floor on online check-in)
Cost: $280
Status: Gold

I did the online check-in when I got notified in the app of my upgrade I was pleasantly surprised to get club access from an essentially entry level room. I was able to select a specific room 24hrs out and the app provided a floor plan so I could see exactly where the room was.

On arrival I asked for a late check in which was granted till 12 for free, any later and I have to pay. The receptionist mentioned the upgrade included club access and also reminded me that I could get complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. Very nice!

The whole hotel feels very new and modern, which I love. It's similar to the voco series for IHG (my normal go to chain). The room is spacious with a decent view, massive shower. The gym is large with lots of equipment.

I'm currently in the lounge - they do snacks and drinks from 1700-1900, but it's open 24/7 for coffee and juice. Compared to other lounges like the Intercontinental Melbourne this is outstanding stuff - corn ribs, deli meats, and fresh oysters (!?!?) are all up for selection. On arrival I was asked what drink I want and you can get wine, beer and simple coughtails made to order. The staff circle regularly to offer top ups of drinks too so great service. It's a bit busy in here (it's not a large space) so no pictures of the lounge itself.

For what I paid, this is amazing value and I will definitely consider staying here again. I'm impressed I got this quality given my relatively lowly status - for context I'm platinum and intercontinental ambassador with IHG and the times they have upgraded me to a club room i haven't gotten club access as per the t&C and I also don't get free breakfast. I might be staying at Hilton more often!

Hilton are great about not playing that BS game of “we upgraded you to a club room without club access”. I’ve never heard of any Hilton-wide brand hotel doing it.

IHG are the worst in that respect, at least they have moved on from the “no benefits of status on award stays” of old.
