How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Status: Diamond
Property: Hyatt Regency Osaka (3 nights)...
Stayed there 4 nights at Easter ... it was my introduction to Hyatt as a Diamond. ... all I could say was wow!

Will requalify this year but the changes make it a bridge too far ...

Property: Park Hyatt Melbourne
Room booked: Park King
Rate: A$246 corporate rate
Received: Park Deluxe Spa, 1W, breakfast in restaurant.

Booked the stay in the cab on my way from the airport to the hotel so didn't expect anything above the ordinary. Stay was only about 12 hours, but I'm a big fan of the hotel personally and like it better than the GH on shorter stays and where I won't be booking a suite.

Property: Andaz Savannah
Room booked: Andaz King
Rate: USD$104 + tax corporate rate (and used DSU)
Received: Andaz Ellis Square Suite, breakfast in restaurant, 1W, multiple bottles of water daily, welcome drink.

I was very happy with the upgrade considering that the DSU only confirms into the Andaz Loft here, not the Andaz Suite which is a higher category than the loft. The Ellis Square Suite is a higher category again and is nicely furnished but on the small side for a suite. Hotel is nice and I don't think there were many others in Savannah worth staying in so I was more than happy with this choice, particularly considering the low rate. Most staff were relatively friendly, although the woman checking me in was a little abrasive.

Property: Hyatt Atlanta Midtown
Room booked: King Bed
Rate: USD$104 + tax corporate rate
Received: Junior Suite, breakfast in restaurant, 1W, multiple bottles of water daily, welcome and snack.

Arrived 4 hours before check-in opened on a Sunday morning and expected to have to wait for a room to be available as hotel seemed very busy. Check in staff were absolutely lovely and got me into a room straight away. From what I can tell, the Junior Suite is the best room they have. It is nothing special, but it was nice having a separate living room from bedroom with a decent sized bathroom. Atlanta seems to be a funny hotel market and I had no need to stay in Downtown which meant a hotel here or one in Buckhead. The GH in Buckhead may have been a better option, but most things I wanted to do were in Midtown. I'd consider either the W or the Four Seasons in Midtown next time but this hotel had more than enough for my stay that I was very satisfied.

Property: Andaz San Diego
Room booked: Andaz King
Rate: USD$119 + tax corporate rate (plus DSU)
Received: Andaz Suite, breakfast on rooftop restaurant, 1W, bottle of wine, multiple bottles of water daily.

Without a doubt the best value Hyatt hotel I've stayed in on the rate I had. I couldn't fault the staff who were incredibly friendly and insisted on me taking a bottle of wine (not their usual cough either) even though I wanted the points. The rooftop is a pretty impressive place, I loved the rooftop pool which never got too rowdy or over crowded. The rooftop also had the restaurant for breakfast which had a huge range of choices and there didn't appear to be any cap on what I ordered as nothing made it onto my bill even when hosting a few guests. Gratuity was included too. The one pitfall was that the Andaz Suite (base suite which a DSU confirms into) seems to be all interior facing rooms. This wouldn't be so bad if the inside of the hotel was some nice atrium, however, it wasn't a pleasant site as it looked to just be a giant pit with an air conditioning unit in the middle. I'd definitely stay again, it is well placed in Downtown San Diego (which obviously suits you if you're down there, however it still isn't that far to head towards the beaches).

Property: Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Resort & Spa
Room booked: Garden Room One King
Rate: USD$124 + tax corporate rate (plus DSU and no resort charge levied)
Received: Waterfront Suite King, breakfast, 1W, multiple bottles of water daily, no resort charge (yet still got all the inclusions of the resort charge, including bikes and watercraft hire).

For a three night stay over a weekend when the other Hyatt's in town (each the Andaz, Manchester GH and PH Aviara) were all at least $200, this was actually a good value option. Sure, there were a large number of families and kids around but it was more than fine. The Waterfront Suite was in a separate wing away from the main tower and along the waterfront over the marina which was a beautiful spot. The seals were incredibly loud and kept me awake at night (but that was a funny enough experience). I was prepared to pay the resort charge, however, my corporate rate drops this to nil. At least for now, I also understand that Diamonds on a standard rate get a small reduction in the resort charge but of course this will change with WOH. Excellent value stay for a property close to Mission Bay, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, however, my preference in the beaches area would still be the independent Tower 23 hotel on Pacific Beach (it'll cost you a small fortune though).

Property: Hyatt Regency Newport Beach
Room booked: 1 King Bed
Rate: USD$111 + tax corporate rate (no resort charge levied)
Received: 1 King Bed, breakfast, 1W, 2 free drinks at the bar, no resort charge (don't know if I got all the benefits of the resort charge though as unlike the stay above, I didn't get a book outlining what I got).

Very unremarkable stay. Hotel was not that full as many rooms still available and the room I got itself was nothing special, bottom floor in main building with no view of anything. The hotel itself is in a pretty ordinary location and is more around Newport Harbour, there is still a 8-10 minute drive to get to Newport Beach and the Pier. The only saving grace was the rate, however, I would have preferred to spend another $50 and stay up the road at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach which is much better located and seems superior.

I have loved being a Hyatt Diamond this year. I'm just two stays short of re-qualifying for next year, and I can't find another two nights where I need a hotel! I'm already doing one mattress run here in MEL on Sunday night.

I'd like to hold on to it for another year, as I have genuinely found it valuable and have really enjoyed my stays in Hyatts around the world. But I'm just not sure at what cost... currently re-qual is an $800 proposition.

I have one stay to go for my 25 - but I have been looking & booking well ahead.

Points + Cash are qualifying, 7½K + $133.

Currently available at the GH on the following fifteen December evenings 11, 12, 15 - 25 & 28 - 30.

Me? I'd do it, even if a last Hurrah before the WoH axe drops on March 1st ...

Property: Hyatt Regency Sydney
Status: Diamond
Room booked: regency king
Rate: $132 for a day room
Received: harbour view deluxe, 6.30pm check-out (1.5 hours over day rate check-out time), bottles of water, what I hope is not the hotel's Diamond F&B amenity: two tea bags and a regular cup presented on some kind of chopping board.

Property: Grand Hyatt Berlin
Status: Diamond
Room booked: grand king
Rate: EUR121 per night plus tax
Received: grand club king, two 1L bottles of water per day, full breakfast in the restaurant (in addition to the lounge), three apples, welcome note from the GM, the loan of a porter's coat on Christmas Day when airberlin was doing nothing to find my missing luggage.

I'll be doing a 5 or so night mattress run to retain Diamond for another year and roll over into the WoH programme. WoH is going to be more generous with upgrades so I think it worth keeping the status.

Got an extremely good rate at GH BALI thru a consolidator for 14 days
as diamond still upgraded to club nice room and free dinner for 2 plus 2 x 30 min massages
Cant complain.

Hyatt Regency Sydney
Status: Diamond (albeit not maintained for this year)
Room Booked: Basic Room (Great rate of $170 night before stay)
Recieved: Harbour View Club Room on top floor in brand new tower.
Room finishings very nice and modern, but small.. Even in the new tower, they've kept the rooms the tiny four points size.
Lounge decor great, very nice views and beautiful interior design, but not a huge fan of the offerings for canapés. Breakfast quite good with egg station etc.

Very friendly staff, remembering names from check in. Very good hotel for the price paid, will definitely stay again if my other hotels are full or too expensive. Only here for one night to view the Darling Harbour fireworks (Front row seat)

Property: Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
Status: Diamond
Room booked: Grand King and DSU added
Rate: AUD$230 plus DSU 4 night stay
Received: Twin Towers View Suite 34[SUP]th[/SUP] Floor, Fruit Platter.

Excellent view of the Petronas Twin Towers from the bedroom and Bathroom. Large round bath by the window, plenty of room for two. Our bed was a bit hard but a topper soon fixed that. The hotel was a bit quiet.

Property: Hyatt Regency Hua Hin
Status: Diamond
Room booked: King Room with DSU added plus AUD$40 per night to receive a Regency Executive Suite
Rate: AUD255 per night, 5 night stay
Received: Premier Suite overlooking the Regency Club Pool, fruit platter replenished every day.
The suite was basically three rooms\, two for the lounge and dining room, and one for the bathroom and bedroom, covering 138SqM.
Large balcony spanning two rooms, complete with ceiling fans.
I could definitely live in this room at this property for a while. The Regency club is as I had read, is a Hotel within a Hotel. Open air “regency club”,pool and beach all within the Club area.

Some January stays with Mr Gone Troppo and Miss 24 Troppo:

Property: Grand Hyatt Bali
Status: Diamond
Room booked: Grand King
Rate: 12K points - one night
Received: “Club” Grand Twin overlooking the road at the back.

Wouldn’t stay again unless it drops a couple of categories. After a previous stay where our DSU suite had no working toilet for most of the stay, with no compensation forthcoming other than a promise of a much better return stay, this was underwhelming. On arrival well after 3pm, took an hour to check us in with staff padding for time. Full availability of all room types showing online for that night. ’Club’ room only in terms of access to club - one of the old rooms with one useable powerpoint in the whole room. Gardens and club are gorgeous still, but pools not as good as the Conrad. Staff shrugged and apologised about the bed type.

Property: Grand Hyatt KL
Status: Diamond
Room booked: Standard King + rollaway
Rate: 12K points per night - two nights
Received: Deluxe King + rollaway

Great redemption value, huge room with the wow factor, excellent club with views of the Petronas Towers, very personable staff. Lift shuffle is a drag but otherwise very impressed.

Property: Hyatt Regency Kotu Kinabalu
Status: Diamond
Room booked: Standard King + rollaway
Rate: 2.5K points + USD50 per night - four nights + DSU
Received: Regency Suite with ocean views + rollaway

Amazing value redemption, fabulous suite. Initially assigned a suite next to some big exhaust stacks, on asking if there was a quieter option, promptly moved to the other corner of that floor. Breakfast downstairs is sensational - try the extensive asian options (especially the indian brekkie dosa). Wonderful staff, particularly in the club, pretty sure a few more nights would have seen us sharing goodbye hugs :D Evening nibbles tend to run out before the first hour is up, but so many dining options nearby - the people of Borneo like to eat!

Hopefully Mr Gone Troppo will requal to Mentalist or Nudist status or whatever it's called soon...

Property: Park Hyatt Sydney
Status: Diamond
Room booked: Park King
Rate: 30000 HGP points
Received: Park King with Hickson Road View :( (no Opera / Harbour view :( ). I think the hotel was full though and we got the following mainly as room was not ready at 3 pm as requested (had to wait 30 minutes) via online checkin, 2 coughtails at bar, a bottle of wine + chocolate truffles + 1000 GP points + 4 pm late checkout + escort to room, and breakfast for 4 (rather than 2) at the Dining room.

I suppose a fair outcome.....(but sill lamenting the view of Hickson Road)
