Grand Hyatt Melbourne
Globalist
Used DSU to Grand Suite for 7 nights, 1 night in standard room.

This hotel is great. It really does not feel like a grand with the service in the Executive Lounge. I was there convalescing with a broken ankle and the staff was amazing.
When they heard my original vacation has been cancelled due to my injury, Jessica, from the lounge went above and beyond to cheer me up.

And they made an amazing ice packs for me! Vacuum sealed. Which I know is silly but when the ice melts... you get the idea. Amazing staya

Have not been keeping up, but so far underwhelmed with my stays as a Globalist. Might actually raise it with them at check-in today.

Property: Grand Hyatt Melbourne
Status: Globalist
Room booked: Grand King
Rate: Corp. Rate
Received: Grand King

Did online check-in, so couldn't tell what room it was before checking in but was pretty disappointed. Did all 60+ nights to get Globalist at this hotel last year, and was typically at least given corner rooms if not suites. When picking up my key this time, they even asked if I had stayed there before.

Property: Grand Hyatt Melbourne
Status: Globalist
Room booked: Grand King
Rate: Corp. Rate
Received: Grand View King (I think....view was ordinary but it sort of faced towards the Yarra so they probably counted it that may)

Again, I suspect online check-in letting me down. Will be more assertive when checking in (at the desk) this time and will report back.

I always get great rooms at GH MEL.
will be interested to see my next PER and SYD HR stays.
I have used my suite UG at waikiki so have none of those left.

Another corp rate data point for GH Melb, from Mr Troppo:

Property: Grand Hyatt Melbourne
Status: newly qual-ed as Globalist the previous week
Room booked: Grand King 5 nights
Rate: Corp. Rate
Received: Grand Deluxe King

Standard suites available to book at check in. Mr Troppo asked charmingly as is his way, but no dice. Quite an ordinary introduction to glob status, especially after doing the hard status yards in a chilly grey Melbourne winter.

Asked at check-in about lack of upgrades last few weeks and was fobbed up with an excuse about a conference and the hotel being busy (rates didn't seem to reflect that). Was this time proactively offered highest room below suite. They were still selling suites but I didn't push it as I honestly don't care that much about them when travelling for work....usually happy with the Deluxe as they are well away from elevator, nice and quiet and with just a little bit of extra space (but not so I feel like I'm sleeping in a barn).

For my whinging, they do get the basics right. Service is always great and they put on a good spread in the Club.

I’ve never missed a suite upgrade at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne this year over 20+ stays. I’m lifetime Globalist but they have been easily the #1 hotel for upgrades for me this year.

Property: Grand Hyatt Muscat, Oman
Status: top tier (I simply can't use the new ridiculous name)
Room booked: grand king
Rate: 15k per night for two nights
Received: grand suite king, multiple bottles of water, evening turndown plus the regular top tier perks.

(I really miss Gold Passport.)

Property: Andaz 5th Avenue
Status: top tier
Room booked: Andaz king with a TSU to a balcony suite
Rate: two nights at 25k per night and two nights at USD535 total
Received: splash suite, more or less whatever I wanted for breakfast (also complimentary via room service).

Property: Park Hyatt Buenos Aires
Room booked: park king with TSU to park suite king
Rate: two nights at 20k per night and two nights at USD125 + 10k per night
Received: two emails in advance (one from the butler and one from a guest relations manager), park suite king, breakfast in restaurant, turndown, escort to the room, very early check-in, 4pm checkout.

Property: Park Hyatt New York
Room booked: park king with TSU to one king bed suite
Rate: cat 1-7 free night and one night at 30k
Received: one bedroom city view suite, more or less whatever I wanted for breakfast (also complimentary via room service), turndown, 4pm checkout.

Property: Hyatt Regency Perth
Status: zero (but about to buildup again in 2018)
Room: Base room
Received: Upgrade to Club room (guaranteed at time of booking)
Comments: Got a very good rate on the basic room (2 nights) through direct query with the hotel, along with promise of club room and access despite no status.
Club was a zoo on the one night I was able to utilise. But staff coped well. Wines were average but otherwise fine.
Impressed enough with the communication with management before and after the stay, so will be back.

Property: Hyatt Regency Phoenix
Room booked: regency king
Rate: regency corner king
Received: several emails prior to (and after) the stay, four 50mL bottles of gin* and two bottles of soda water, breakfast, late check-out.

Property: Hyatt Zilara Cancun
Status: top tier
Room booked: ocean view junior suite king
Rate: two nights at 25k per night and one night at USD344
Received: email in advance of arrival requesting arrival time and preferences, ocean front junior suite king, turndown (two nights out of three), slightly early check-in, late check-out (which I don't think I was entitled to as it's a resort) and, of course, it's all inclusive so all of that.

*This gin thing is interesting. Turns out, some time ago in some Hyatt in some country, I asked if they had gin (probably in the lounge). Apparently, it made its way onto my profile as a preference for the drink. I asked Phoenix to remove the reference. As much as I like gin, there's plenty of other alcohol I like too. For the life of me I can't work out which hotel it would have been. It only would have been a simple 'You don't happen to have any gin, do you?' But it seems it was enough to stick. Good thing I didn't ask for whipped cream and chocolate body paint.

Property: Grand Hyatt DFW
Status: top tier
Room booked: two queens
Rate: category 1 to 4 free night for one night
Received: advance email checking on preferences and arrival time, two 30mL gin bottles (again!), two bottles of tonic water on ice, platter of four snacks (chocolate, popcorn, beef jerky, marshmallows), extra late check-out, room service breakfast, GM's business card.

Property: Park Hyatt Sydney
Room booked: park king
Rate: two nights at 30k per night
Received: email in advance of arrival requesting arrival time, park king with a partial bridge view, early check-in, breakfast in the restaurant, handwritten note from the GM thanking me for my loyalty, late check-out.

Property: Hyatt Regency Perth
Status: top tier
Room booked: regency king
Rate: numerous single night stays this year ranging in price from $157 to $185.
Received: regency suite king (and, on one occasion, regency executive spa suite), lounge access, late check-out, handwritten welcome note from the GM, bottle of wine.

Property: Hyatt Regency Sydney
Room booked: regency king
Rate: $209 per night for two nights
Received: advance email requesting preferences and arrival time, club deluxe harbour view (the sole remaining suite was located adjacent to Zephyr and has considerable noise issues), lounge access, late check-out, evening turndown.

As a side note, this property charged my brother-in-law a credit card surcharge for his AP booking. No issue with that - except it was neither disclosed at the time of the booking nor on the confirmation email. In other words, they charged his credit card an amount he didn't authorise.

Property: Hyatt Regency Perth
Status: zero
Rate: under $200.
Booked: base king room but with club access guaranteed at time of booking direct with hotel.
Received: King club room, 9th floor, bottle of wine, two welcome notes (one formulaic with my full name, one hand written note from the GM using my preferred shorter name).

Given the stay was Friday to Sunday and that I have no status still with the chain, I was pleased to have the confirmed upgrade and saving over $200 from the price of a club room at the time. Wine a nice bonus, and more than I often get with other chains where I have top status.

Lounge was better this time, including some hot food and better wines. Room service was also better and there was clear advice of what was open, what wasn’t and any services that wouldn’t be available (unlike my last stay - so credit to the hotel for responding to feedback).

Property: Hyatt Regency Paris Charles de Gaulle
Room booked: regency king
Rate: EUR94 per night for two nights
Received: king bed deluxe (what the hotel calls a suite), lounge access, 4pm check-out, breakfast in restaurant, handwritten welcome note and some sweet treat, multiple bottles of water. This hotel doesn't adhere to the spirit of the loyalty program. The true entry level suite - regency suite king - was available but I did not receive it because it's considered a "premium suite". I gave them a mouthful, cancelled a future stay and won't return.

Property: Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile
Room booked: regency king
Rate: free night
Received: king bed with Eiffel Tower view, lounge access, 4pm check-out, two bottles of water, typed welcome note.

Property: Hyatt Regency Birimigham (UK)
Room booked: regency king
Rate: GBP104 per night for two nights
Received: regency suite king, lounge access, 4pm check-out, handwritten welcome note and small jar of sweets, multiple bottles of water, evening turndown.
