How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Property: Park Hyatt Sydney
Status: Diamond
Room booked: Park King
Rate: 30000 HGP points
Received: Park King with Hickson Road View :( (no Opera / Harbour view :( ). I think the hotel was full though and we got the following mainly as room was not ready at 3 pm as requested (had to wait 30 minutes) via online checkin, 2 coughtails at bar, a bottle of wine + chocolate truffles + 1000 GP points + 4 pm late checkout + escort to room, and breakfast for 4 (rather than 2) at the Dining room.

I suppose a fair outcome.....(but sill lamenting the view of Hickson Road)

Ouch. These rooms are rarely assigned unless the hotel is at 100% which does happen over Xmas, NY, cruise season and MG.

I believe for Diamonds breakfast for up to 4 is one of the soon to be gone benefits ...

Status: Diamond
Property: Grand Hyatt Shenzhen
Booked: Grand King - DSU Grand Suite King
Rate: ¥1,009 or $AU200 p/night (3 nights)
Received: Grand Executive Suite

First time at this property, duty manager came to greet and offer further upgrade, then walked together to the suite and explained all the features (room was quite high tech).

Club lounge looks very stylish, solid buffet offers plus small a-la-carte menu, great service.
Buffet breakfast was extensive, as expected in Asia.
Concierge very helpful, all staff spoke good English and were super nice.
Location easy 10-15 min ride to/from the border, takes about 1.5 hours to/from downtown HK, not too bad even when had to go through immigration 4 times.

It's a good base for those who have business meetings in HK and Shenzhen. Only downside was no complementary mobile phone as in Hyatt HK properties and no free shirt pressing but those are minor issues. All in all fantastic value for money.

Shuttle cost from HKG to hotel HK$200.
Shuttle cost from hotel to HKG ¥200.

Re: World of Hyatt

Perth Hyatt Regency
Corporate rate, 2 separate consecutive bookings, base room.

Mr Troppo is currently on some Perth weeks for work and I joined him for the weekend (because quokkas). Currently he is an Exhibitionist or Explorerererist or something. Had been upgraded to a club room (with access) for first few days, then second booking was upgraded to a regency suite (also with lounge access). Water bottles in room replenished every day (presumably on account of his Divinerist status), nothing else other than a welcome note for the second booking (doesn't matter to us, just a data point for this thread). Beds v. comfy, building very nice inside (don't be put off by dated outside), lovely staff, Mr Troppo happy to keep booking (he was interested to see difference between previous [good] diamond treatment). Pleasantly surprised for the upgrade and lounge access, given he's not currently an Interventionist or Globalist or whatever. With the Perth Westin and Intercontinental both nearing completion (not to mention the Doubletree underway), it makes sense they seem generous with loyalty members. Tip: The otherwise very agreeable club lounge is currently controlled by the Raw Onionists - beware if this is not your thing!

Don't forget this thread for reporting how Hyatt treats you as an elite.

Re: World of Hyatt

Status: Explorist
Property: Hyatt Regency Sydney
Booked: Base Room
Rate: Corp rate $200pn
Received: Harbour View in old section

First stay as rebranded Hyatt R for Mr Troppo since 4Points version. V. small room, nice view, drying Pharmacopia amenities (not a fan), tasty but very visually unappealing room service meal. No club access as Explorist. The last point probably makes it only an option when it's a fair bit less than Hilton Sydney corp rate, as Mr Troppo is HH Dia. Interested to know how others have gone with any Explorist access to the club, as currently reconsidering current bookings (tough it out without the convenience of a lounge to get to Glob or not?).

Re: World of Hyatt

Status: Globalist

I've had very good experience with WOH so far:
GH Beijing - upgrade to suite on prepaid rate
GH Taipei - upgrade to suite on C+P rate, not the biggest suite available but OK
GH Guangzhou - upgrade to suite on a prepaid rate
PH Hyderabad - upgrade to suite on a base rate
Hyatt Bangalore - no upgrade to suite which is OK since there's only 5 in the whole place I believe

Property: Hyatt Regency Johannesburg
Status: Globalist
Room booked: regency king
Rate: 4k plus ZAR694 per night (points plus pay)
Received: regency suite king, multiple bottles of water per day, evening turndown.

Property: Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam
Status: Diamond
Room booked: regency king
Rate: 6k plus USD75 per night
Received: regency suite king, handwritten welcome note, multiple bottles of water per day, breakfast in restaurant, evening turndown.

OK.. very behind in this thread but thought it might be worth sharing some thoughts:

Property: PH Canberra - now I have read from PH enthusiasts that this is a disappointing PH... but the romance of the colonial feel and the vision of drinking GnTs on the balcony were too much for me to resist :)
Status: Mr Up (who's name it was booked under) is Platinium
Room booked was the balcony one with Club access.. not sure the name now
Rate: Not sure
Received: Massive disappointment upon check-in.. no valet, concierge or door staff (even in a 4 star hotel they have someone to open the door.. sounds ridiculous I know but for a PH..).. reception staff pleasant but when I asked if the buffet breakfast in the restaurant was available for a discounted price as part of the Club room she said it was up to management discretion.. went away.. came back and said no.. full price :( Anyway.. headed to the room which was nice and full of the colonial charm I had hoped for :)
Club lounge was good.. service good along with the assortment of food and bev
Housekeeping was disappointing.. didn't clear the ice bucket and empty glasses from the room.
I know these are little things but again this is a PH we are talking about and I have stayed in them in Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, and Zurich and this initial experience was very below PH standards.
Second night we had the buffet in the restaurant (against our better judgement).. terrible.. except the staff...
Now this is where the trip changed.. We explained to the restaurant staff about the disappointing experience we had had so far and they empathised.
They offered a glass of the house wine as compensation (blah.. when the lifts were down for 30 minutes in Zurich they gave me a complimentary glass of Dom in the lounge) and we explained that it wasn't about the compensation it was productive feedback for them.
Next day was a completely different experience.. door staff were present, polite and helpful with doors, bags and the like; housekeeping took the ice bucket, glasses, etc, and did a great job. CSM rang to make sure everything was ok (and offered a bottle of wine for the room).. Amazing turn around.
So this tells me that they take their customer feedback seriously... but it should't have happened in the first place IMO.
Will I stay there again??? Hmmm.. not sure.. I think some AFFers have suggested that there are better hotels in Canberra.
I did love the history, gardens, furnishings and architecture of the hotel.

Hope this helps :)

By the way.. it was confirmed that the buffet breakfast in the restaurant was included in the club room rate.. not that we tried it after the dinner..

Property: Hyatt Regency Perth
Status: nothing
Room: Club King
Comments: upgraded to a river view despite pleb status :)
Great hotel.. just a bit too far from the middle of the CBD for me usually.
Staff were fantastic. Room was good. Housekeeping, valet/ concierge, reception were perfect. Club lounge was also very good (better than previous experiences).
Really a very good hotel :)

Interesting. I keep wanting to stay here, because I love the old world charm. Last trip to Canberra, prices were insane here so I stayed at Hotel Realm. Next week prices were ok, but Hotel Hotel was about half the price and rates well, so hard to justify. Perhaps next time.

Yes.. I also love the old world charm and that aspect didn't disappoint. I think if you came for high tea or a drink at the bar (like at The Windsor, Melbourne, or Raffles, Singapore) you would have a wonderful experience. But as you mention for the price you pay for a room it needs to be a 5 star hotel IMO.

Let's see how sefty goes..

It's under the Park Hyatt brand, however the hotel is called the Hyatt Hotel Canberra.

It is not called the Park Hyatt Canberra.
