How do you store your wine [+ Fridge/Cabinet recommendations]

Build the unit, if it's finished just list on Marketplace and you easily sell it.

I got these for around $120 on special, so you easily get your money back for a built rack because I would rather buy one built then have to kill my back building when I get on the ground lol

Will pass that on to them. But I doubt it is their style - and I have other challenges at the moment, so will not be signing up for either the building or the selling.

I'm thinking 2.7-3.0m long. It should be able to fit 330 bottles in racks across, double the height that's 660 a side.

My question, how wide should I make this room? 1.5m? 2m? I don't mind the back wall being empty, leaves some room for cases on the ground. Easily 1,500+ bottles, and I don't think I ever want to own more than that!

Go for 2m if u can. Racks either side will be around 400mm x 2 =800mm. And then I'm assuming u would add some decent foam insulation, maybe 60mm each side =120mm. Leaves u with 2000mm-800mm-120mm= 1080mm corridor in between. This will be much more comfortable and ergonomic.

Its a good thing to have really good insulation and its fairly cost effective. Regular wall insulation is ok, but getting foam is more ideal. I'm also doing a new build and getting the builder to put in a wine room (im following the attached design). I asked the builder to put in wall batt insulation (because its cheap) as well as foam insulation on top.

I'm planning to do racks of some kind later on, but be careful, if you go for the 'pretty' racks, then costs can skyrocket quickly which means less $$ to actually spend on wine.

I'm not looking for a room to be pretty, simply because I don't have much room!
I wanna walk in and basically have racks on either side. Just small, and effective.

I don't mind paying for whatever insulation, just confused if I upgraded wall insulation and then foam inside the room?! Just seems it'd take up alot of room?

Coolest place you can find that's consistently around 16 degrees. Also needs to be dark. Don't worry if you can't find exactly 16 degrees. The most important thing is consistency of temperature.

Alternatively find a friend (perhaps a trustworthy friend) that already has a wine fridge.

Your issue is really the space between shelves. If it's designed for bordeaux style, the shelves wont have enough space between them to comfortably slide with bottles laying on them if you have any bottle size that is bigger than bordeaux. And there are many wines that have weird and wonderful shapes that aren't even in the usual categories to contend with too.

The bordeaux bottle is the most common. But, if you have pinot noir or chardonnay then it's probably in a burgundy bottle and that's going to create problems in height between shelves. Same for any sparkling and perhaps the rhone shape. You wont have a problem with alsace unless you're talking depth, and that's only sometimes, they're more for riesling I guess.

This wasn't going to work going forward, so I renovated a space, added a separate AC and tarted it up. There's more to show when the finishing touches are made, but here's a sneak peak. It's currently holding 519 bottles managed in Cellar Tracker. Space for a little over a thousand all up.

This question was asked previously a few years ago but didn't appear to be answered. Looking at a minimally managed storage solution (i.e. Wineark or Cellarit). Has anyone had any experience with either? Any tips or (worth a try) referral discount?

I won't need access to it for a year or so but will want to add the occassional purchase to it and therefore somewhere like Kennards wouldn't work.

I still have them too! Only, they're unused in the garage. They did well for me for many years. Thank you!

The new racks are made by Wine Rack Sydney Supplier Locally and widely with online shopping - it's a clunky website, but they can custom make as well. So I wanted all mine to be the same height despite being different racks and they added longer legs. Probably the cheapest you'd get of that quality, as I've seen Macphee's offer virtually the same racks for a decent markup.
