How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

I see Diamonds get the $23 bottle of french sparkling, instead of the $15 Aussie one which is for Platinum :p
In regards to my not so pleasant experience at the Sofitel Gold Coast:
I got charged $20 for taking a bottle of red wine from the corner as I thought it was a welcome drink as I did not receive any welcome drinks and did not receive any drink vouchers. But then again I booked at 10PM and checked in around 11PM so that is understandable? Then there was no electricity for 2-3 hours (1am to 3-4am) and management did not tell me there was a scheduled electricity outage so I was left in the dark for 2 to 3 hours. Pretty bad experience to say the least. On the bright side, at least I got the complimentary breakfast as a platinum. I contacted them two times about the $20 charge for the red wine (emailed and called) and they still did not reverse the charge for the red wine (no discounts for the wine even as an Accor Plus member). Not leaving any negative surveys or Tripadvisor ratings cus I have a conscience (bad Accor email survey would definitely have been a killer) but sharing a story on this lighthearted forum instead...how ironic that such a high end hotel cannot even overlook a $20 bottle of wine when they fail to provide a welcome drink and drink vouchers. Oh well at least they did not charge me $40 for the wine which I guess it is a blessing in disguise (even though the wine is probably worth $15 at most). Effectively paid a room that is only worth half its cost (due to the power outage) and the staff failing to tell me upon checkin that there is a power outage, then upon checking out getting charged $20 red wine that is supposed to be offered as a welcome drink. Oh the irony...

Yikes! ibis budgets outside of Europe from my (albeit limited) experience are largely miss. I've stayed at the one at Sydney Airport, it was a decent hotel but if I was paying anymore than the $80/night I was spending would be hard to justify. In terms of how you are treated as an Accor elite, I tell people all the time don't expect anything (including stays towards status).

Having stayed at the ibis Styles Elizabeth Street it does come highly recommended. Modern room, great location and a place where they do value elites. Specifically my employer booked that property using their TA and I was fully expecting the hotel to not recognized my status as Accor+Platinum given it wasn't booked direct via Accor. Nothing could be further from the truth. Got the free breakfast, got the upgrade to corner room and the mega pint of wine when redeeming the free drink voucher. A colleague of mine recently stayed at the property last week as an Accor no status nobody (but booked with an Accor+ rate he got through 2 Accor+ vouchers I gave him) and also thought highly of the hotel. They even let him checkout at 5 PM for just $35. Not bad!

I would rather sleep at the BNE international arrivals even if the room for the ibis budget bne airport was going for $50. Nothing to do with the cost but more about hygienic issues.

@Lynda2475 We stayed at Mantra Pandanas Darwin in July.
We had a one bedroom apartment, big modern bathroom, walk in shower.
Very nice staff, good location.
Ended up booking this (I cant remember the last time i stayed in a 3 star 4 star is more my style), and burned a bunch of accor points so that only cost me $600 for 5 nights including breakfast - could have paid half that if Id opted for a smaller room with no view, but you only live once.

Property: Pullman Melbourne on the Park
Status: Accor Plus - Platinum
Room booked: Superior Room
Room upgraded/type: Deluxe Executive Room
Rate: ~$250 booked via Amex GBT
Early check in/late out: Wasn't required
Welcome drink: Yes x 2
Welcome gift: Sparkling wine (left at room temp) and chocolates

Switched up from the usual Movenpick stay after a very average stay last month. Good room, meh on the lounge benefit (basic canapes and breakfast is very limited). Got to say the restaurant at dinner is painfully slow both in getting a drink or food (which is unremarkable), staff are all good. Think the Pullman Melb City has far better Lounge however the room is better on the Park.

Property: Mantra Coolangatta Beach Hotel
Room booked: 2 bedroom ocean apartment
Rate : $293 pn
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Upgrade: No, then yes, see note*
Welcome gift:
Byron Bay chocolates, Sparkling water and specialty fizzy drink. Reception pro-actively apologised re no welcome drink as they do not have a restaurant or bar.
Late check-out: 12 midday granted when asked.
Greeted warmly by reception, no upgrade available due to full capacity.

* Once settled into the apartment, master bedroom air-conditioning didn't appear to be working. Quick visit to reception, maintenance man dispatched. He agreed it was not working at capacity ( i.e at all) He called Reception and straight away 2 other apartments were made available for us to view.
Very happy with the response, moved apartments and we all had a decent cool night's sleep.
Would recommend for a family holiday, in a great location especially if you do not have a car.
If we were to go again, would choose Kirra as it is quieter, but that is just us.

Property: Adelaide Rockford
Status: Accor Plus - Gold
Room booked: Base
Room upgraded/type: Nope
Rate: $250
Early check in/late out: Early check in offered via phone the day before (not needed)
Welcome drink: Yes - included wine, beer or spirit. Happy hour prices $7 too which is pretty good!
Welcome gift: Hidden well, but teensy heart shaped chocolate the size of a grape

Somewhat disappointing stay after moving from the Crowne Plaza. Check in staff disinterested. Located in a somewhat dingy part of town; I didn't feel great walking alone in the area after about 5:30pm. Painfully slow lifts. But rooftop pool is really pretty and there was no one there when I was.

Dingy is being polite. ☹️

Whilst I'm a Hilton loyalist now, back in the day when we stayed at Sofitel Gold Coast and Brisbane, they were the least appealing Sofitels compared to anywhere else, in terms of hardware, service, and generosity.

Ironic since they named the hotel Sofitel but the "Soft" product is missing. I guess its good they are stingy af otherwise they are pretty much broke considering how empty the SOFTitel is on a weekly basis. I'm glad they are robbing me $20 to keep them afloat. An evil...albeit a necessary one.

Been a couple of years since ive been at this property, i do prefer Broadbeach, and this place is usually well over budget. Great welcome gifts, shame im all by myself this week. Parking is free for Diamond- and was offered valet for no charge too.
Has to be the nicest Accor property on the Goldie.432318017_7203430926409868_5439975734651125294_n.jpg432332999_7203431093076518_9145756621133584254_n.jpg432358647_7203431233076504_3894353223634533391_n.jpg

Property: Pullman Aerocity Delhi
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: exec room (only available type)
Room upgraded/type: No. All suites booked out
Early check in/late out: early check-in not available but 4:30pm checkout granted
Welcome drink: Yes x 2
Welcome gift: some fresh pieces of fruit and other snacks

Convenient enough to the airport. Second stay here and just didn't feel the love. Exec lounge is ok. What seems silly is only beers they have are two foreign ones. Come on, give me a Kingfisher. Free drink at the bar I could get most things. Only beer was Bud though. Again, why not allow me a local beer (which they had).

Not a bad stay but not a great stay.

Property: Sebel Quay West Suites Sydney
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: 1 bedroom apartment, city view
Room upgraded/type: Yes. Same room type but with harbour bridge view.
Rate: Accor plus saver rate
Early check in/late out: No, requested but not available. In fact my check in wasn’t available at the time advertised
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 but restaurant is not open. Staff advised I could exchange voucher for a mini bar item
Welcome gift: no

Thought to try somewhere different but also somewhere that would provide more space for my 3 year old to run around.

Really well appointed suites. No complaints there at all. The bed was comfortable. Self-contained kitchen with all the required appliances. Even a sofa bed that is quite comfortable. The wifi is teeerrriiibllleeee.

The front of house staff could do a better job. For example, I got there at 1:30. They mentioned the room would be prioritised, however at 2 o’clock (which is the check-in time) the room wasn’t available. The communication between the staff seemed a little bit patchy. On the brighter side, we got a kids amenity pack.

Just a note on the restaurant, it is not open on Mondays so you’re not able to use your vouchers, but you are able to exchange it with a minibar item.

Would you recommend the Pullman if you have two nights in Delhi?

We arrive at 8.00pm on a Thursday night on a Singapore Airlines flight and then leave on the Saturday for a trip for a few days to Agra and Jaipur. One of the positives in doing so is that it close to the airport and as our flight leaves Brisbane that morning by the time we get to the hotel could be around 2.00am Brisbane time so the closer the hotel the better!

Property: Pullman Singapore Hill Street
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: High floor Executive Room
Room upgraded/type: No
Rate: Accor plus saver rate (incl bfast)
Early check in/late out: Not requested
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 but extremely limited selection - Corona, Red/White wine.
Welcome gift: no

Hotel is very pleasant with two good pools. The rooftop pool has amazing views over the MBS area especially at night

IMG_8627.jpeg

The room was pretty reasonable with a good view over the other pool

IMG_8619.jpegIMG_8618.jpeg

Exec lounge was on the same floor as the pool above (3rd) and was pretty good with both an indoor and outdoor section with easy pool access.

Between 5pm and 7pm there was a good selection of drinks available including coughtails, and a variety of canapés - Sushi, Salmon, Sandwiches, Samosa’s and lots of other stuff that did not begin with ‘S’.

The booze was free-flowing and pretty good, and the food was tasty and plentiful.

Breakfast (included) was a fairly standard buffet with all the usual suspects. Nothing to write home about.

All in all a pretty good stay and one I would be happy to repeat.

That bed looks massive and great views. Pity about the lack of proper desk and desk chair :(

Amazing new property. I can still smell the fresh hotel vibe. Doing a DSC run, so out early tomorrow. Nice to get 2 vouchers and the upgrade to the executive lounge.

Minibar is free (sans alcoholic drinks) but probably prefer to get a drink at the lounge. I appreciated that they had a universal plug adapter. Great tarmac views. Will be my to go to property moving forward

Exactly the same data and result as Sylvia, except 1x drink voucher, room was the mirror of hers, and the language in her card was much more florid.
