General comments: As mentioned by M@rcopolo, the executive lounge is tiny and we waited for five minutes to get a seat. Unfortunately the lounge was woefully understaffed with a single staff member doing her best to cope. She finally got some assistance to clear tables. I’ve drafted a letter to the GM concerning understaffing and unnecessary stress placed on that particular staff member.

Once the executive lounge closed we wandered downstairs and met a fantastic barman by the name of Paul. He was excellent and made an excellent mojito and long island ice tea.

Overall it was a pleasant stay.

General comments: Lounge access was great, and as a newbie it was like experiencing J for the first time. Lounge staff were fabulous, the food selection was very good (not excellent). The lounge is large and was quite busy on Saturday night, but staff were still very attentive and kept refilling my glass. We used the lounge several times as we spent most of Saturday at the hotel, at times we were the only people in there. I felt like a valued customer for the whole stay.

Booked: Superior King advance purchase
Received: Executive King, club floor. Very nice view.
Welcome: Letter at checkin with 2 x drink vouchers.
Late checkout: Asked for 1.30, no problem
VIP treatment: Thanked at checkin. Exec lounge access. .
Other: I liked the Exec lounge ( Seems New ). Very big & great views. Brekkie was basic but good with hot options. Evening canapes fairly basic but OK. I think I am spoiled with Asia Exec lounge offerings. I would go back there again. Good location to most of Central Brisbane once you work out the shortcuts

Room upgraded/type: No
Rate: Advance Saver
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: Voucher.
Early check in/late out: Not Required
VIP treatment: None. First time checking in as Gold. First time in memory NOT thanked.
Other: the room and, as far as I could tell, at least half of the 6th floor absolutely stank of damp and mildew. With aircon on full in the room couldn't smell it, but otherwise yuck. I shan't stay at this property again, unless the price is close to zero. Pity as the location is quite good. There are several other Accors very close by however, not to mention other, possibly cleaner, brands of hotel.

Had the exact same treatment and gifts this past weekend.
I had booked 2 rooms, and they didn't want to extend Plat benefits on both rooms.

Main restaurant al le cart food is very bland and overpriced. Buffet is fine.

Two stays in past week; very much the same.

Other: great location and awesome service, several staff members remembered name and room number and asked several times whether everything was okay. Most tennis players participating in that week's tournament in Victoria Park (just opposite) stayed in the hotel, including Angelique Kerber, Venus Williams and a few other well-known players. Pullman Melbourne Albert Park
Platinum Le Club member and many times return guest
Got the room I booked but appreciated lounge access due to Plat status.
Complimentary water and sweet plate (red velvet lamington).
Not my favourite Pullman in Melbourne but nicely appointed and comfortable. Lounge has Drinks and basic canapés in the evening, continental breakfast in the morning.
Seriously lacking for business travellers, I was told the PC in the lounge was "just for show" and lounge/meeting room wifi is weak and drops-out quite often...but I should use the iMac in the lobby- hmm, not quite as comfortable or private as the lounge

Property: Mercure Sydney
Status: Gold
Room booked: Standard room 2x double beds
Room upgraded/type: Yes. Privilege room 1x king bed, higher floor
Rate: Advance saver
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: Vouchers x2
Early check in/late out: Late check out offered but not needed
VIP treatment: Upgrade, free internet (otherwise paid); 2x pieces of fudge, extra free bottle of bottle of water and welcome letter on arrival.

Other notes: Was staying for work. Sadly the wifi was so bad (glacially slow, frequent drop outs) that it made working very difficult. For this reason, sadly, I don't see this hotel being a viable option again (this was my first time trying this one). It was fine in other respects. I'm running out of mid-range Accors in Sydney southern CBD: Wifi at Mercure is rubbish; Rockford stinks, Darling Harbour usually cruelly overpriced. Pity.

Property: Sofitel Melbourne
Status: Platinum Plus
Room booked: Classic room
Room upgraded/type: One level to deluxe room
Rate: BAR + accor plus free night (didnt want to risk the $100 amex cashback with half yearly sale)
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: No
Early check in/late out: Checked in at 12pm, check out at 2pm
VIP treatment: Free internet, bottle of water, fruit platter and pieces of chocolate
Other: I was expecting the welcome drinks voucher but was told since I got complimentary access to club sofitel it is covered by the evening drinks and canapes (kinda makes sense). It is the only sofitel where they serve light lunch consists of salad, bread with dip and cold cut meats. Club lounge staff very attentive in giving guidance on places to visit. Used with the $100 cash back with Amex so got a really good deal.
