Re the Pullman Auckland lounge breakfast - It is continental only and frankly not that good unless all you want is cereal and toast and very basic cold meats / cheeses. But you can order one of the hot dishes for a $10 charge I believe. Quite a delay unfortunately. I haven't taken up the offer myself, just going off observations.

Thanks very much for that so that means we have the Sofitel with no lounge and the Pullman that charges for hot breakfasts .......only in New Zealand !

That is outrageous!

I actually liked the breakfast on offer in the lounge.
Nice coffee from the Nespresso machine. More choices
then cereal and toast only. No hot options. Also quiet
compared to breakfast in the restaurant and nice views.

Definitely quieter in the lounge, and yes there's a few different breads, fruit and juices. But it is poor even by general continental standards.

Main in restaurant has far better options including fresh juice, smoked salmon, a huge range of breads and pastries. But it can be a zoo!

Parking in the Perth CBD is a strange process. Fixed rate "per exit" provided and used.
Pleasant helpful staff.

Will be interesting to see what the stay in 2 week time provides.

Happy wandering

UPDATE:
I was kinda hoping if I book a Junior Suite that doesn't offer a Exec Lounge in room package that Plat mship will still get me into Exec Lounge - Waldorf Astoria in SH def honour HH Plat benefits if booked through 3rd party and am hoping it might kinda be a Chinese or SH thing.

Also taking 3 of my sisters with me who have zero mship or status but just had a thought if I booked room in my name I might get to weasel them in also.
I contacted Sofitel Hyland Shanghai directly and had a number of email exchanges with Reservations Manager - she was quite emphatic that if bookings did not earn pts ie booked through 3rd party then Plat benefits would not be honoured.

I had Citi Concierge attempt to book me 2 x Suites via City 4F3 promo but for whatever reason they could not be booked on this promo even though hotels.com do offer these rooms on their site.

So I re-contacted Sofitel Reservations Manager and expressed my disappointment at her insistence no Plat benefits if booked through 3rd party and after advising her I would be booking WA who would honour plat benefits if booked through 3rd party - she then countered with an offer of booking 2 x Suites at non-refundable pre-pay rate offered on their web site but payable at check-in - I jumped at this offer as the rate offered is basically a 25% disc from post pay rate.

Moral of the story is that if you hold status just never take first NO as a definitive answer - go back and ask again and again if reqd - who knows you might just end up with what you wanted at outset.

Property: Sofitel Brisbane Central
Date of stay: Jan 13 - 16
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: Superior King Room
Room upgraded/type: Luxury King Room, corner room (2402)
Rate: red hot room ($106/ night)
Free internet: Yes, relatively slow
Welcome drink: 1 voucher for two drinks, any tap beer and wine
Early check in/late out: checked in at 1.15pm, late check-out at 5pm offered but not used
VIP treatment: card in room, small bottle of sparkling water plus tiny chocolate cake
Access to executive lounge (if existing): no

Additional comments: we definitely enjoyed the stay, particularly given the rate we got. Great location right above Central, very convenient. We inquired about an upgrade to the Executive Lounge and were told that it would be an additional $95 per night, with the Friday night fully booked already. In terms of room upgrade, superior rooms apparently are on levels 10 to 18, whereas luxury rooms are between levels 19 and 26. We got the corner room due to the cot we requested for our 15 month-old, and the corner room worked really well due to the extra space.

Reasonably equipped gym on level 30, pool quite busy but adequate. Would definitely stay here again.
