Do Platinum members receive complimentary breakfast in the lounge at this hotel please?
Yes, breakfast is available in the lounge at the Pullman Auckland
Thanks very much for that so that means we have the Sofitel with no lounge and the Pullman that charges for hot breakfasts .......only in New Zealand !Re the Pullman Auckland lounge breakfast - It is continental only and frankly not that good unless all you want is cereal and toast and very basic cold meats / cheeses. But you can order one of the hot dishes for a $10 charge I believe. Quite a delay unfortunately. I haven't taken up the offer myself, just going off observations.

I actually liked the breakfast on offer in the lounge.
Nice coffee from the Nespresso machine. More choices
then cereal and toast only. No hot options. Also quiet
compared to breakfast in the restaurant and nice views.

I contacted Sofitel Hyland Shanghai directly and had a number of email exchanges with Reservations Manager - she was quite emphatic that if bookings did not earn pts ie booked through 3rd party then Plat benefits would not be honoured.I was kinda hoping if I book a Junior Suite that doesn't offer a Exec Lounge in room package that Plat mship will still get me into Exec Lounge - Waldorf Astoria in SH def honour HH Plat benefits if booked through 3rd party and am hoping it might kinda be a Chinese or SH thing.
Also taking 3 of my sisters with me who have zero mship or status but just had a thought if I booked room in my name I might get to weasel them in also.

I had Citi Concierge attempt to book me 2 x Suites via City 4F3 promo but for whatever reason they could not be booked on this promo even though hotels.com do offer these rooms on their site.
So I re-contacted Sofitel Reservations Manager and expressed my disappointment at her insistence no Plat benefits if booked through 3rd party and after advising her I would be booking WA who would honour plat benefits if booked through 3rd party - she then countered with an offer of booking 2 x Suites at non-refundable pre-pay rate offered on their web site but payable at check-in - I jumped at this offer as the rate offered is basically a 25% disc from post pay rate.
Moral of the story is that if you hold status just never take first NO as a definitive answer - go back and ask again and again if reqd - who knows you might just end up with what you wanted at outset.
