How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Property: Swissotel Sydney

Status: Accor Plus Gold

Room booked : Premier King (base room)

Room upgraded: I believe it was a corner King Room as it had two windows and was on a high floor and at end of floor away from lifts. Upgrade not mentioned at check in. Room didn’t have Nespresso machine so not sure whether it was an upgraded room category or just a very good room of the base type. In any case, it was a pleasant room so I was happy.

Rate: Flexible booking for one night at last minute so it was fairly expensive.

Free internet: Yes

Welcome drink: Yes, voucher for two. Redeemable for house wines, soft drinks, tea, coffee.

Welcome gift: No, although when I asked about this at the end of our one night stay I was told the gift is a “sweet amenity.” This was offered to you by knocking on your door but I was told I must have either had do not disturb sign on and/or was not in when they came. We may have had do not disturb sign on so this was possibly why it didn’t happen and we were out for most of the evening. Of course, if they had told me upon check in that this was the gift I would have told them when to deliver it. When we return I will proactively ask about my welcome gift.

Early/Late checkout: was able to check in quite early at just before 12 noon and this was much appreciated after an early start to the day. This was made even better when I walked past reception at 1pm to see a long line for checking in. Late checkout to 12 noon only.

Other notes: hotel currently undergoing renovation of public areas with bar and restaurant still open while new reception and restaurant is being constructed. Buffet breakfast was very good particularly at accor plus discounted rate. Room was clean and modern and very comfortable. Location is hard to beat being near train station and various shops and restaurants. Seems like they don’t always have enough staff on reception so there were long lines at various times when we went past but this is always a challenge in large hotels at peak times. Overall a good stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Property: Sofitel Broadbeach
Status: Accor + Diamond
Room booked : Accor + comp night, standard mountain view
Room upgraded: yes, corner ocean view
Rate: Accor + Comp night
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: bottle of wine and chocolates in room, and 2 drink vouchers.

First stay back here since its Covid operation. Restaurant not open Sunday and Monday. Used the drink vouchers in the bar next door.
Used my free night for Sunday night, then im re-checking in for the week for work. Hotel is heavily booked, so will probably have to change rooms, ( corporate traveller have booked a twin room for me )
Good to see the area busy.298499714_5317382278348085_8654377761117173819_n.jpg298399208_5317382518348061_7344896993481205415_n.jpg298496926_5317382388348074_8129553398945103464_n.jpg

Hotel: Novotel Sydney West HQ
Status: ALL Gold
Booked: Standard Twin Room
Received: Superior Twin Room

Amenities: Welcome card, one drink voucher, chocolate hearts, two bottles of water + two soft drinks in the fridge.

Hotel: Novotel Blackfriars London (3 nights)
Status: Accor Plus Silver (the QFF Gold update hasnt landed yet)
Booked: Superior Queen
Received: Superior Queen = no upgrade, but was put on a quiet (kid free floor).

Amenities: One drink voucher, sparkling water × 4 restocked in fridge each day (usual is 2 still + 2 sparkling but my profile notes sparkling preference).

Included breakfast was buffet with usual British items - bacon, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, scrambed or poached eggs, toast, cereals, fruit, pancake machine. No barista coffee only a machine that produced undrinkable coffee. No al la carte options. Didnt try the lunch or dinner.

Spacious, good usb and power point placement, lots of storage, spacious walk in shower, decent lighting options. Bed was a little firm for my liking - most novotels ive stayed at seem to have hard beds, when i was a regular at Novotel on Collins for work they used to add a matress topper for me.

Has glass bathroom wall, which didnt matter as was on my own, but there was a switch which made the glass opaque (which was better than not having the option, but still think a solid wall would be better. Had that standard square lit bathroom mirror which is a Novotel signature.

There arent many food options within an easy walk, but if you head over to Borough Markets (1 tube stop to London Bridge), Roast restaurant upstairs does a great dinner using local produce. I had scallops for entree and pork belly for main and was delicious.

Hotel: Sofitel London Heathrow (1 night)
Status: Accor Plus Silver (the QFF Gold update still hasnt landed)
Booked: Classic Room - Queen
Received: Luxury King (upgraded 2 levels)

Amenities: 1 free welcome drink (i had to ask) and 1 bottle of still and 1 bottle of sparkling in the fridge.

Was told at check in they are fully booked tonight, makes sense given trains strikes tomorrow. I was sent an invite to upgrade for a discount last week, ignored it and i am glad i did given the freebie, must not be too many status holders staying.

The king bed and pillows are super comfy, i know i will sleep well tonight (complete contrast to the way too firm Novotel beds). Walk in shower and a soaking tub (which is wasted in me, not a fan of baths).

View of the atrium (car rental desk), on top floor (4).

Main negative is no usb ports, first time I've had to pull out adapters and chargers this trip unusual to not have at least 2 usb ports for charging.

Connected to Terminal 5 (BA) by an enclosed bridge, will take away the stress of a commute for my early morning flight. But because of early departure i wont get a chance to check out the breakfast (selected a rate without breaky, will grab something in lounge assuming securityline is not too long)

Property: Pullman Sydney Airport

Room booked: Deluxe Room, 1 King Sized Bed

Room upgraded/type: No (or at least not as far as I can tell)

Rate: Red Hot Rooms (Accor+) - $158.40

Free internet: Yes fairly quick too

Welcome drink: Yes, bottled water in room and drink voucher on check-in

Early check in/late out: N/A

Access to executive lounge (if existing): N/A (was Accor+Silver member at time)

General comments: Arrived at the Pullman hotel fairly late (i.e. 10 PM) having taken the train in from Normanhurst. I stayed here as I had an Air Canada flight at 9:30 AM and the prospect of getting up super early to catch the flight wasn't appealing. Also, I'm on a quest to try out each and every Accor property at Sydney Airport (having already stayed at the Novotel and Ibis SYD). Front entrance was closed so concierge had to let me in through the side. Check-in was quick and painless, and front desk manager assisted me in moving the two pieces of checked luggage I had to the elevator which was a nice gesture.

Hotel room itself was pretty nice for the price:

This would've been a really nice hotel to stay at if either I got into the hotel earlier or if I had a later departure out of SYD. The shower and tub were really nice to have and the bath robe and slippers were an excellent addition too! One gripe I do have about this hotel (and I suppose the Ibis which is colocated with the hotel) is how far away it is from either the domestic and international terminals. If you are travelling carry on only like a backpack, then yes I guess it's not too unreasonable a walk to the domestic terminals. Fortunately they do offer a shuttle service ($8) that will take you to both the domestic and international terminals.

Looks like the same room type I had recently. The on site restaurant I thought was really good (I had an excellent t-bone steak).

Agree about the distance to the terminals. The issue with the bus was when I looked into it was that it ran every 20 or 30 minutes (I can't recall which) but also stopped at a bunch of other hotels. So what should be a quick journey lands up meaning an extra early start. I just grabbed in Uber in the morning for about $15. Well worth the extra few dollars for at least an extra 30 minutes sleep, if not more for a morning departure.

Property: Mercure Sydney (at Railway Square). We like this location, 10 minutes from domestic airport station then 10 minutes walk through the Devonshire street tunnel, crossing no roads. 5 minutes walk to excellent dining experience in Kensington Street Chippendale with its faux hawker stall spice alley, just off Broadway.

Room booked: Deluxe City View Room, 1 King Sized Bed, for 2. Corner rooms have views over railway square, couch and comfy chair as well as a work chair and desk. My bugbear is rooms for 2 which have only one comfy chair.

Status: ALL Platinum

Room upgraded/type: No (for the second time). There aren’t many rooms of this type (second to top category) or the next one up, so booking a more basic room your upgrade chances are better. Might try that next time.

Rate: ALL stay longer and save, which I think came with double points. Among Accor hotels in central SYD this one is usually well priced.

Free internet: Yes it was fine

Welcome drink: Yes, bottled water in room and 2x drink voucher at check-in

Early check in/late out: Didn’t need to try either, but unlikely to be a drama.

Welcome gift: Two half bottles of SSB and a cheese platter. The no upgrade consolation prize has been generally good.

Service: A nice handwritten card in room with a duty manager mobile number, always appreciated. Staff are consistently good, some hotels have a nice vibe and generally this is one.

Executive lounge: No such animal.

Free Parking: didn’t try, but they have their own garage and suspect no issue with this.

Free Breakfast: Yes, but paid for cappuccino which was free last time. Buffet has the basic menu, not much better than QF J lounge.

Dinner: The restaurant hasn’t been open for dinner since COVID, but its booking app suggests it’s reopening on Frday and Saturday nights from September. Menu is limited but nice pub food. Same food available from Eve Bar, which is a bit meh, and room service.

Crediting points: never had an issue in the past.

Can’t think of any reason not to keep coming here.

What did you think?

Stayed a couple of weeks ago and it’s really showing it’s age this old girl. Needs a complete refurb!

I don’t really look at this thread much as I normally do not stay at Accor properties, I am silver which I think was provided by an Amex card I no longer have. With the current QF offer if I stay 1 night at an Accor property I will get Platinum status, I needed to travel and rather than book the Melbourne Hilton I booked into the Sebel Melbourne Docklands. It seems to be an apartment complex with parts managed/ owned by Sebel and others being owner occupied or renters. It is in the old part of the Docklands so on a Wednesday night not much is open however there are places near by to eat or get provisions and use the kitchen in the apartment. On check in I mentioned I had not stayed here before and was doing so to get the Platinum status at which point the checkin staff promptly took away a piccolo and gave me a full size bottle of wine. Some photos of a standard room.

Wow, blown away by this apartment. Work trip booked thru Corporate Traveler, called up last week to confirm my diamond details had gone thru with the booking. Which they hadn’t. So asked hat room I was allocated as my daughter was accompanying me. Was told I had a 2 bedroom. Perfect.
Checked in to find i had been upgraded to a 3 bedroom, 43rd floor.
Blown away by the view and size of this apartment. Easily bigger than my house 😀

Property: Novotel on Collins Melbourne
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: 7 x Deluxe Room 2 x Double Beds
Room upgraded/type: 7 x Deluxe Room 2 x Double Beds
Rate: Accor Plus Pacific Sale prepaid non-refundable (avg $195 pn)
Free internet: Yes but not used
Welcome drink: 14 x drink vouchers
Welcome gift: 2 x 500ml bottles of still water (replenished daily), small tray of rocky road for every room
Early check in/late out: 12:30 check-in, 1pm check-out

Stayed as part of a weekend trip to Melbourne with a group of friends. The ALL booking engine lets you book Accor Plus rates for up to 7 rooms (at odds with the Accor Plus T&C) so I thought I would try my luck. I had initially booked the 7 rooms at Pullman on Swanston with a flexible pay-at-hotel rate, they promptly contacted me to ask for additional Accor Plus membership numbers, so we switched to the Novotel. I don't know if the prepaid rate and online check-in helped to smooth things over in that regard.

Very happy to have Plat benefits extended to all 7 rooms including the full buffet breakfast and early check-in/late check-out. The buffet breakfast spread was very good - in addition to the usual hot western options there was an egg/omelette station, DIY juice mixer, eastern style options, and good pastries. Barista coffee proactively offered on arrival and delivered to table. They were even walking around offering flutes of champagne this morning for Father's Day!

Welcome drink vouchers redeemable at the lobby bar for a variety of tap beers, wines, and spirits with mixers.

Will definitely bring future group bookings back here, we couldn't have asked for a better stay.

One more thumbs up for Novotel on Collins for correctly crediting reward points & status points for 2 of the 7 rooms, in line with the ALL T&C, within 24 hours of check out.

I've found ~50% of properties where I've had multi-room bookings seem to only award points for one room, and I've had to follow up with ALL support to get the 2nd room credited.

Room booked: Tribe Standard Room

Room upgraded/type: Yes, I think? - received a park view on the 7th floor.

Rate: Accor Plus Stay Longer and Save, Room Only

Free internet: Yes and relatively quick too!

Welcome drink: Yes (6 bottles of water in fridge plus voucher for free drink) used drink voucher on check out for a latte to go.

Early check in/late out: Noon check out request and granted (but wasn't needed due to JQ cancelling my flight back to SYD and having to get on an earlier connecting flight)

VIP treatment: Nothing special, just the usual welcome.

Access to executive lounge (if existing): N/A

Additional care: N/A

General comments: Overall, I really enjoyed this property. It reminds me in many ways of the Moxy hotels that Marriott has where each room has some character to it. Good bed and shower (albeit the hot water could've been hotter). Plenty of outlets including USB plugs everywhere. Provided amenities (i.e. shampoo and body wash) were of high quality. The in-room Nespresso machine was a plus for someone who travels around with Nespresso pods and a handheld Nespresso machine. Would recommend staying particularly if you want to be closer to West Perth and/or the King's Park area.

Has the restaurant reopened yet?
At one point they were ordering breakfasts from Deliveroo for Platinum+ members.

Pre Covid when I used to be a regular at the Novotel on Collins they were always great at remembering I found their beds too hard and always had a foam mattress topper put on the bed for me.

Nope. Still closed! Although there were some grab n go stuff there like chips and pop when it was "opened". Also the gent at the front desk made me the latte from the kitchen whilst I waited.

Timely post. I was just driving past there yesterday and thinking to myself that it's actually not a bad location, even for business folks who need to be in the CBD for work. You can hop on any bus along Kings Park Road and take then into the city for free.
