How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

That's interesting as I've been experimenting on booking a single vs a couple and seeing the experience over the last few years. The outcome is that if more than one person is expected I have a greater chance of a room upgrade, more drink vouchers and able to get a later room checkout. Even though there is only one person actually staying :)

My experience with drinks is I get a voucher for however many people I book. Book 1 - get 1. Book 2 - get 2.

The room upgrade, and late checkout seems much more random.

I'm an ALL Platinum. I have found that in Australia, there is a good chance of a room upgrade if it's only a one-night stay. For longer stays, an upgrade is very rare (but I guess there have been some exceptions). Travelling in Europe or Asia, whether it's a one-night or multi-night stay, I think I get a room upgrade most stays. Drinks vouchers are usually one voucher per adult per night, everywhere.

Property: Pullman Brisbane King George Square
Status: Accor Plus Diamond
Room booked : base standard room, but first time using the SNU
Rooom upgraded: suite as per the SNU
Rate: $215 ,( the suite was over $400 ) as I used the SNU and had to call to book/use ( really annoying way to do it ) the rate over the phone was slight cheaper than what was on the app.
Welcome gift, platter in room and 2 free drink vouchers.
Early check in,; yes 12:30

Since we were staying here on Thursday nights thanks to Accor, I decided to make it a mini staycation. Living in Brisbane, we don’t venture into the city much at all. Room layout is strange, ok, if you want to get some work done or hold a meeting.
If using the drink vouchers, if you use them at the restaurant, you can get spirits, but if using them at the rooftop bar, just the standard beer or house wine.
As it was a Friday night, the rooftop bar was packed, and to make it worse, half of it was sectioned off for a private event.
If platinum or diamond, you get a free plater and 2 drinks at the restaurant. Dinner here was very nice and reasonably priced.
Breakfast was also good.
Shame there is no EL, but there looked to be one albeit closed when walking between Mercure and Pullman properties

EL currently closed. Was quite decent in years past

Property: Pullman Brisbane King George Square
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked : Deluxe King Room with Balcony
Room upgraded: none - but this was using my free Accor Plus Night.
Rate: $0 with a $30 fee to book into the Deluxe Balcony Room
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: Was given 4 drink vouchers. Used 2 x at the 16 Antlers Rooftop Bar (can choose beer and wine only). Used 2 at Goldfinch with dinner - can pick any wine/beer or spirit.
Early check in/late out: Checked in at 12:30pm - also granted late check-out for 4pm.
Welcome Gift: A desert platter in room (interestingly saying Happy Birthday even through it wasn't!) and a bottle of Perrier.

Enjoyable stay - the room was decent - bathroom dated and building surrounds are somewhat dated. Rooftop bar was busy but excellent and dinner at Goldfinch (with the 50% Accor Plus discount). Dinner was not too bad - breakfast was slightly better.

Room booked : Base Room
Room upgraded: Yes - to one of the newly upgraded rooms with harbour view and balcony.
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: Was given 1 drink voucher.
Early check in/late out: Not required and didn't ask.
Welcome Gift: A desert box in room and 4 x bottles of 'Just Water'

Nice stay - the uprgaded rooms are a big improvement and I would highly recommend asking for one of them (only challenge is that they are only put to level 7 at this point so nothing higher and refurbished available). Breakfast was excellent (free for Platinum) and remains Al a Carte.

Property: Sofitel Adelaide
Status: Accor Plus Diamond
Room booked: Deluxe Room
Room upgraded/type: Prestige Suite
Rate: Flexible
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: 2 drink vouchers for basically anything at the bar. Bottle of wine and snacks
Early check in/late out: Offered 12pm or 1pm and took the 1pm option

Excellent stay despite a few issues which I put down to a few teething problems as it’s still in its “soft opening” stage.
Booked a few weeks back in a Deluxe room and a couple of days later received a email from Accor reminding me that I still had one suite night upgrade available that expires at end of year. Decided I would use the upgrade on 1 night at the Sofitel and normally upgrades can only be applied to new bookings. Called the Accor booking line to see if I had to cancel the booking and make a new one to apply the SNU but was informed that we had already been allocated a suite for both nights (I presume a operational upgrade from Accor) Anyway checked in on Friday and was told we were the first in this suite as it was only completed on Tuesday. Prestige Suite but must have been a Accessible one as there was a larger toilet area with handrails and a fold down seat with rails in the shower. Suites located on L10-12 so not the best views but nice room nonetheless. Comfortable bed, 2 toilets and a seperate lounge area with another big screen TV and fridge, coffee making facilities etc.
High Tea (La Goutière) served from 2-4pm and happy hour (Apérochic) from 5-7pm.
Both served in Club Millesime lounge and High Tea consisted of assorted cakes, pastries and tea/coffee etc. Happy hour was the usual Champagne, beer, wine, spirits and some coughtails with nibbles such as mini bruschetta and honey soy chicken tarts and other bar snacks. Service was fantastic from all staff and quite a good place to chill out.
Breakfast in Garçon Bleu and was more than adequate with what I considered a decent selection. Getting a coffee took forever and both mornings we ordered immediately after being seated and didn’t receive it until we had almost finished breakfast. Seemed to be common complaint. Used the pool and gym facilities and they were both more than adequate. All in all a excellent stay and parked across the road at my wife’s work which is handy. Will definitely stay again and probably a dozen times per year for the convenience

I'm currently roadtripping through QLD (and hopefully NSW) so am using this to build up my status so I thought I would post a few of my experiences. The information from others has been so helpful.

Property: Mantra South Bank Brisbane
Status: Accor Silver
Travel Date: Nov 2021
Room booked:
Studio x 2
2 bd apartment x 1
Room upgraded/type: none
Rate: Emergency Services Offer Room only.
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: None
Welcome gift: Welcome note

This was a very complex booking I made for a group booking. It ended up being three room bookings with different dates and one room was made under 3 booking references and needed to be linked. It also used the emergency workers rates (some of the party were nurses) so wasn't worried about welcome gifts or drinks as we were getting approx 30% off the room rate on a weekend when the hotel was almost booked out.
The reception staff were exceptional in handling check in considering we had 6 people coming in and out and needing keys at different times.
The hotel was very busy with a mix of locals, families and out of towners visiting Brisbane.
Overall this is a very functional hotel and a great option when you have to be in South Bank for a wedding, for example. It is a great location for South Bank.
Valet parking was about $40.

Property: Pullman Sea Temple Port Douglas
Status: Accor Silver
Travel Date: Nov 2021
Room booked: One Bedroom Penthouse Apartment
Room upgraded/type: I don't think there is a higher grade available
Rate: Golf getaway Package
Golf getaway Package included transfers, breakfast and 9 holes of golf or a massage. I'm not sure how I got this package. I think a website quirk attached it to my booking search. It was the cheapest rate on the website but I couldn't find anything advertising it.
Free internet: Yes. Included.
Welcome drink: 2 drink vouchers for house wine and tap beer.
Welcome gift: Bottle of wine, Chocolates, personal welcome note from manager
Early check in/late out: Not required.

Reception called a week or two prior to travel to confirm we could make the booking due to border restrictions at the time so it would have been straight forward to arrange early check in or late out. We exchanged a few emails prior to travel to arrange a transfer from the airport so built up some rapport with the staff. We ran into a small issue with our golf booking and the reception gave us a few extra drink vouchers to compensate.

This was our second stay at the Sea Temple, the previous being in the 'before times' of 2019. Level of service was still great and the resort is a wonderful place to relax. It was much quieter than previously with only a handful of people at breakfast. Port Douglas as a town was very quiet overall.

If you are trying to build up status quickly I’d avoid Mantra properties if you can help it. The earn rate is a downright insult. Someone’s we can’t avoid it as there are some nice Mantra and Peppers properties out there

Property: ibis Budget Enfield
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: Queen Bed and Single Bunk
Room upgraded/type: Sadly not
Rate: Accor Plus Red Hot Rooms $37.50 per night
Free internet: Yes! But the portal requires an email address and acceptance of marketing spam. 12 mbps down & up.
Welcome drink: Bottle of Perrier and some sweets
Early check in/late out: definitely not needed

I need two status nights before 31 Dec to attain Platinum and my local Ibis Budget, which started crediting points & nights earlier this year, was running these silly rates... So a mattress run it was.

I'm quite impressed that they provided any welcome amenity at all. The room was not particularly nice, but the bed was quite comfortable (for the few minutes I laid on it). Better than I expected for $37.50 not too far from Sydney CBD. Onsite restaurants are KFC and Maccas across the car park.

Good point. I wasn't really paying much attention to the earn rate - I need to learn more about that.
The amount of properties makes it an attractive programme in Australia so I decided mid-trip to go for status. The numerous quirks in the system make me wonder if I'll keep at it. I made Platinum not sure Diamond is worth it for me as it's mostly leisure travel.

If you're aiming to do it through cheapish nights (and you're not going for Diamond), really doesn't matter. A night is a night.

Yes, if you are going for cheap nights then that’s fine but often Mantra isn’t that cheap.
To go from Classic to Silver for example is 10 nights but a spend of about $130/night at a regular brand could see you get there in 8 nights, Mantra you would need the whole 10 nights
Or you could just spend 10 nights at a Ibis for $300 🤣

$37.50 for chocolates and a bottle of water.

That’s about what they charge for those items in the mini-bar at 5-star places isn’t it? ;)

What‘s their hourly rate? 🤫

Perhaps the top bunk was supposed to be the comp upgrade? 😀

BTW, I think I’ve had cruise ship cabins bigger than that!
