So after staying the Saturday night at Sofitel Brisbane, then headed down to Broadbeach for the week for work. The wife was coming with me. As it was her birthday on the Sunday. I had been at Broadbeach less than 2 weeks prior and confirmed with them, that my wife was joining me and it was her birthday. On checkin, only handed 1 drink voucher, i again said there were 2 of us and it was her birthday and was then asked if we would like some wine sent up to our room, Sure i replied.
Head up to our room- upgraded to top floor ocean view. Room is standard but part of an adjoining room. Unpacked then our neighbours returned to their room. We could every word they said, coming thru the adjoining room door. They werent overly loud, just a strong accent and if we spoke German, we couldve joined in.
Called reception and asked if we could be moved and was told they would call us back.
25 minutes later, no call back, so i call again and speak to someone different and asked whats happening. They knew nothing about the request and they just had a shift change!
Eventually an hour after the initial call, we're moved 2 floor down to a corner room. Much quieter.
We had dinner that night in the hotel restaurant and was expecting to see a welcome gift on returning to our room. Nothing.
The next day, whilst at work, the wife had mentioned something to the room cleaners, and later the day, a bottle of wine and cheese platter arrived.

It sounds like the staff training here hasn’t changed since we last stayed a while back. This hotel is on my wife’s blacklist after being told off by reception for “jumping the queue” when we dared line up at the Accor member counter; with no apology after we showed them we were allowed to do so.

I haven't been there for a while now, nor the Sofitel in Brisbane. I was fairly regular (at least once a month and sometimes a couple of days at a time) however last three visits no welcome gift, poor housekeeping (eg dust behind beds, grimy remotes etc). On speaking to reception re no welcome gift first time, receptionist apologised and said well there should be, would sort it out - nothing occurred - no big deal.
Next visit, Perrier water only - no welcome note. Visit after that was in a Junior suite and should have had champagne as part of the package. No welcome note in suite, no champagne. Called reception at 5 who said would follow it up, at 7.30 no champagne yet, called again and was told it would be sent right up, nothing arrived so phoned at 9.00pm and requested they leave it until the morning. Spoke to reception in the morning who knew nothing about it and said we should have had complimentary champagne on our package ( I don't think it was complimentary was paid for as part of package - anyway). Was then told we could have it next time. It is little things like this when you are return guests, Platinum Plus that gives the impression that it does not matter. The staff at front desk are lovely, but nothing happens. I am trying other hotels in Brisbane in the meantime.....I do miss the Sofitel Brisbane though, for the smell and lovely bar/foyer area.

Recently stayed at the Pullman Auckland between the floods and the cyclone.
Property: Pullman Auckland
Room booked: King Studio
Room Rate: Stay longer $300 pn roughly
Status: Platinum Plus
Room upgraded/type: Yes One bedroom Executive King Suite on top floor *apparently the biggest one*
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drink: Yes... two vouchers
Access to executive lounge :yes, very small exec lounge near reception, got full rather quickly and was not topped up, especially on Saturday night when there was nothing to nibble and very little wine left and no cold drinks. Different wines each night in the fridge. Certainly good enough for some cheese and bikkies and a glass of wine before dinner. Coffee service by machine all day.
Lovely front office staff. Welcome note in room, with some Pullman Honey - they have their own beehives. Bottled water every day.
Breakfast included anyway -buffet area small but lots of helpful staff. Full egg station but strange that a serving of poached eggs was three eggs for some reason. We ended up with 6 eggs for the two of us.! One barista coffee per day complimentary.
Very nice stay and would return.

My last stay was the same. There was a champagne in the fridge, but absolutely nothing to say that was the complimentary one. I’m not a huge champagne fan so didn’t bother following up, but feels very cheap.

Going back years but the day prior to a stay at the Brisbane Sofitel I’d get a call from Ashley inquiring about my arrival time and seeing if there was anything I needed in my room or for the stay. She was lovely. Those were the days.

however last three visits no welcome gift,
Maybe they are disorganised and I got yours. Last time I stayed at BNE Sofitel there was a welcome note and birthday cake waiting in my room, Half an hour after we arrived someone from the lounge arrived with another welcome note and birthday cake. Some consternation when we pointed out we already had one. We kept the second welcome note.

Cheers skip

Since upgrading to ALL Gold, every Mantra property I’ve stayed at has had my status on file as Silver.

I tried contacting Accor customer care to see if they could fix this, but they weren’t really helpful.

Do you have the correct number on file?

Accor have this weird thing where your member number changes when your status changes.

Yep. In my experience the 7th digit of your membership number indicates status. 1 for no status, 2 for Silver, 3 for Gold, 4 for Plat etc. The final number is a checksum and therefore also changes when the status digit changes.

Hmm, I’m Plat and my seventh digit is not 4?🤷🏻‍♂️
Interesting. I can only speak directly for what’s happened to my number as I’ve moved through the status levels, which was consistent with this ancient FT thread: Member number changes with status? - FlyerTalk Forums

It seems the first 6 digits also indicate membership type. There are apparently different patterns for Club des Actionnaires members. Maybe also for Accor Plus and corp etc?

I am quite new to the Accor chain and am learning about the numbering system. I did have an silver+ number provided AMEX, then I got a Platinum number via the QF stitch up. I then re joined Accor+ and received another number. @Mattg it took a couple of calls to get through to an agent that understood what needed to be manually changed in the back end systems to make it all just work. My experience with Accor has been pretty good.

Theres also different account numbers for Ibis Business and ALL. My Ibis number shows as a 2 and my ALL number is a 3. Interesting that when joining Ibis business it automatically gives you gold so that number should also be a 3

Internet playing up- wanted to charge me and asked for CC details. Eventually had their IT call me and supplied with an access code.
Nice wine and fruit platter welcoming gift.
Also never seen the refillable water bottles before.

Property: Ibis Styles East Perth
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: Standard Room with 1 King Sized Bed
Room upgraded/type: No?
Rate: Members Stay Longer and Save, Room Only - $116/night
Free internet: Yes, acceptable speeds.
Free Breakfast: Yes, buffet
Early check in/late out: N/A
Welcome drink: Yes, one voucher
Welcome gift: Bottle of WA white wine in room's refrigerator.

I booked this stay as part of long weekend getaway to Perth (for those wondering I nabbed a $39 return fare from Sydney with JetStar hence why I can justify this travel). Having now stayed at two Accor properties in Perth (the Tribe and Ibis Styles), I would say that the Tribe had better amenities but the location wasn't so great whereas the Ibis Styles had much better location (short walk to most of the big attractions in Perth) but the room was an Ibis:

The room itself was fairly basic, which for an Ibis is to be expected so I won't wax on much about that other than to say that if you've stayed at one Ibis you've stayed at them all. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

As an Accor+Platinum I had complimentary buffet breakfast which is served from the hotel's restaurant located in the first floor from 07:00 - 09:30 on weekdays and 07:30 - 10:00 on weekends. I was quite pleased by the buffet spread itself containing a good combination of hot and cold food items (including salmon, a first at an Accor):

Would I stay here again as an Accor+Platinum elite? Absolutely supposing the price is right. The hotel has a great location, the breakfast spread was good and the rooms whilst basic got the job done. If there is one piece of criticism I could levy on the hotel it's the lack of a proper desk or work area. In my case, I headed out to get work done, but having a simple desk somewhere in the room (which some Ibis properties offer) would provide me with greater flexibility.

The 7th digit on my account is "3".

Hmm, bizarre.

I just called Accor Customer Care (it took a few phone calls just to get the number - it's 02 8278 4189 in case anyone else needs it in the future) and the guy didn't know how to handle this so opened a case number and said he'd get back to me by email.

After the call, I was randomly credited with two nights on my ALL account for a hotel stay in Jordan that I did not take. Those points have since been removed. 🤷‍♂️
