How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Thanks @jase05 for your reply. The location looks great, prices aren't too bad given the time of the year.
I gather from the reviews they are all privately owned apartments. I'm looking at an oceanview stay.
I am hoping the 3 night stay will qualify me foe the bonus nights for the Accor promo

Location is fantastic, close to plenty of shops and restaurants and very close to beach.
A few pics from our last stay

We stayed there a few years back @ellen10
The apartments are privately owned but with similar fitouts. I believe the higher floors are more modern/updated furnishings.

We had booked a one bedroom apartment but the bedroom was pokey and the balcony only came off the living area.
Fortunately, we were able to upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment for $20 per night, it was in late April. Had a balcony off the main bedroom and living area, as in the photos posted by @jase05

Great location especially if you don't have a car, but parking underneath if you do.

Thanks for the photos and information @jase05 . Looks great.
Thanks for your information @Flyfrequently. I am hoping we might get upgraded as I am Accor Gold. But maybe not as it is the school holidays.
Good to know there is parking underneath (free I hope). We will have a rental car and may keep it a few more days, to explore further afield.
I am now thinking of booking for 5 nights to make it a more mini holiday. Beforehand we will be visiting family around the Gympie area.

I was Accor Gold @ellen10 at least they had an available room, not sure how you would go in school hols.
We also didn't get an upgrade at Mantra Coolangatta Beach in March, only managed it when aircon wasn't working properly.
From memory our parking was free/included. Entry was via the Coles underground car park and then a boom gate.
Love Gympie, often did the hot, humid January school holidays as my brother and his brood lived there for many years.

Found a really good Ibis Sydney Darling Harbour red hot room rate, all for $90 a night. Accor Plus doing its thing.

Definitely an off peak season + with the construction works over there.

Property: Mercure Spring Hill Brisbane
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: Base ("Superior) for $104.50 (stacked with 8% cashback)
Room upgraded/type: Yes - deluxe room on high floor with balcony and stunning city views
Early check in/late out: Proactively offered late checkout on checkin, not required
Welcome drink: Yes x 2. Was able to use on a larger than usual selection of beers, wines and spirits. Had a nice Stone and Wood on tap
Welcome gift: A bottle of wine (not the usual De Bortoli swill, but not much better), waters, fruit platter and card.

A pleasant surprise, especially at the price. I do agree with an earlier post that in the area, The Art Series Johnson is a better hotel with its amazing pool and gym, but it's significantly more expensive. I just needed a room for the night while in town for dinner and an AFL game at the Gabba with friends. Staff were friendly, room was comfortable with some unexpected touches like bathrobes, slippers and Nespresso machine. I also managed to find free street parking on a Friday night but on weekdays you might struggle with that.

Property: Sofitel Auckland
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: Superior room - used suite night upgrade to upgrade to Junior Suite ($242)
Room upgraded/type: No - got junior suite as booked with SNU
Early check in/late out: Not asked or offered
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 vouchers, but each voucher entitled me to 2 drinks! So had 4 glasses of rather nice NZ wine between the two of us
Welcome gift: Nil

Dated but very luxurious hotel in a nice location on the Auckland waterfront. On site restaurant La Maree was excellent and applied AP discount with no issues.

A special mention - in my feedback form I simply mentioned the lack of status recognition on check in - no welcome amenity or note, no upgrade despite low occupancy on a Tuesday - but I also said I was happy with my stay and would stay again. The GM personally emailed me to apologise and offered me a very generous 20k Accor points, worth 400 euros, so kudos to him.

Just got back home from a 2 night stay here for a short work trip. During the first night, there was a ticking noise coming from the wardrobe that I suspect was coming from a motion sensor for the in-wardrobe lighting system. It would tick ~10 times with 5 second intervals, stop for a while and then repeat. This really disrupted my sleep, and yes I could have contacted them during the night, but the likely outcome would have been moving rooms after midnight, which didn't appeal. I called the front desk first thing in the morning to explain the issue, and was told that someone from the engineering team would fix the issue. At the time, they did enquire when I would be back, and advised it would be late evening. At no point was an apology or change of room offered - simply engineering to attend the room.

I had a busy day at work, followed by a dinner, so got back to the room at around 9pm. I fully expected a note to have been left, a voicemail on the in-room phone, or contact via my mobile/email advising that engineering had attended and resolved the issue. There was nothing. No communication whatsoever. I called the front desk at 9pm, asked for an update and told them the lack of communication was incredibly disappointing. The front desk told me that it is not protocol to leave a note in such circumstances. I told them that was a service failure on their part. I was assured the clicking noise had been resolved.

I'm sure you can guess where this is going, but by 2am I was woken by the clicking noise. After tossing for a few hours, I called the night manager at 5am and advised him about the ongoing issue. He proactively offered a room change, not realising I was checking out that day, which I declined. He then offered a 50% discount on the second night, which I told him deserved to be extended to the first night given the same issue. This was agreed to. The final outcome was acceptable, but the recovery took far too long, the communication was poor and I would have much rather had 2 decent nights sleep than a 50% discount on the stay.

The club lounge was nice, but access was a bit of a pain. The lifts too were incredibly slow despite their being 8 of them. Service in the lounge was great, with the waitress remembering me by name at breakfast on the second morning and not requesting my room number. That was impressive.

Not sure that I'd return here to be honest. The rooms are spacious, but looking a little tired. The shub was incredibly narrow, and I'm not exactly large (6 foot, 70kg). No upgrade received as a platinum either.

That's really disappointing :(

I'm there week after next for a few nights. I've noticed they have a deluxe room too now. I assumed it was just a regular room that's be refurbished. I'll enquire. I agree that those bathrooms could do with a refresh. Otherwise, I really like this hotel.

QQ, It looks that the Ibis Budget Status points rate is 5 points /1 EUR excluding taxes, which is less than Ibis itself.

I guess the goal is to get elite nights on the cheap when staying in an Ibis Budget and getting elite status that way, not through Status Points.

Yeah, one of our favourites still but the EL has been at capacity for several of our recent visits but I guess that’s to be expected when they are throwing out status boosters like confetti

Have you tried the main restaurant for breakfast instead? If so, what's it like?

Not for a long time
We always go to the EL for breakfast and it’s not anywhere near as packed as the evenings. In fairness though our most recent stays have generally coincided with peak weekends in Melbourne

Property: Movenpick Melbourne
Status: Accor Plus Gold
Room booked: Superior Room with King bed
Room upgraded/type: Only higher floor, same room type
Early check in/late out: got there slightly before 2pm, but room was not available. I was quickly told as soon as it was ready
Welcome drink: Yes
Welcome gift: Chocolate bar

Doing my yearly winter staycation with a friend. Reception looked a little bit short staffed and when I got the room the welcome gift wasn’t there and some mini bar items had not been replenished.

Of course the chocolate hour is the winner here. Busy due to school holidays. In all, a nice and conveniently located hotel. Room wasn’t crazy expensive considering school holidays

I notice they now call the shubs "authentic European styling". I'm booking again later this month and will ask for a walk in shower so I'll see what happens.

I was also there last night - staying for the first time as an Accor Plus Gold (only temporarily, will be Plat again next month)

Booked a Superior room through Accor Plus for $172pn, and similarly didn't get an upgrade, just a room on Level 6 with the same aspect as you.

Reception phoned earlier in the week to ask when I was planning to arrive and whether I needed parking. I'd hoped that telling them about my 11am planned arrival might result in a room being ready, but alas no luck. After dropping my bag I asked they call when the room was ready but they never did.

Asked for 2pm late checkout which was granted. Good stay for the price, the SkyBus convenience is hard to beat. Travelling with Ms sudoer means we can't use Uber without a car seat!

You were lucky to have such a spread for Chocolate Hour @Silvia
Very little left at 3.10pm when we stayed in May.

The Hotel Woolstore 1888 is apparently now ALL participating as part of the Handwritten Collection, not surprised as it is one big group of Accor Hotels in that part of Darling Harbour.

Booked it on QF Hotels and the room wasn't bad. It is quite small though. Didn't see them having a buffet station when I was there but maybe there is one now.
