How many SCs do you get in a year?

My points?

Entirely self funded. Great I know. Some gets refunded courtesy of the ATO but no status credits/points are funded by my employer. (See previous threads about why this might be possible).

By the end of my year, I will have flown to Asia twice, New Zealand about 5 times, and the rest made up of mainly domestic economy with some contributions from higher classes.

I'm curious to know what sort of flights the people with extremely high SC per year are doing and if it is funded via work or personal travel.

Most, but not all, of my travel is work related. The company I work for wouldn't approve a business class trip in a pink fit.

Do you guys fly OS a lot on J to get these SC points? It it all work related?
All of my paid flights are work funded and work related. My personal travel is via award redemptions, but that has only been one trip in all my years as a QF FF member (albeit a 3 month RTW holiday).

On some occasions I have personally paid the difference between my company provided economy fare and a business class fare, but only when the difference is covered by my per-diem allowance for the trip.

My international trips are a mix of business class (for the longer trips, usually made into RTW trips) and economy class (for Asia destinations).

Currently have 170 with renewal at the end of November so I hope my calculations are correct.

I think that you just need 1230 points over the next 43 days which is less than 29 per day... Just 1 short flight in J is per say is all thats needed :)

Dave

Just what I was thinking :!:

mine are 100% work and predominately J international.

It might sound attractive to some but its not what its cracked up to be I assure you (and you would die if you did it in Y). Short trips, travelling alone, with more travel time than time at the destination generally.

Having said that I do appreciate the opportunity I get to do any travel paid by someone else, and the few hours free time I get here and there are fully appreciated (just in case the boss is reading!)

Mine is a mixture of probably 85% work-funded and 15% personal (holidays, weekends away with Mrs LW).

All of my work trips are domestic (in economy, but generally V or higher outbound and always K or higher inbound), whilst the majority of my personal is International Y (using points & UC's to get J seats).

The majority of my domestic trips are multi-city itineraries (like my last one, BNE/SYD/CBR/SYD/BNE). International trips are always multi-city itineraries.

Not wrong. I was pretty much over the whole business travel thing on my second trip.

I can understand how it may become boring for some people but I have not had enough of flying/travelling yet, even 1 day here or 1 day there.

I did 7 short business trips to SE ASIA in 2 years flying cattle class and I miss them. I am grateful for the opportunity to visit new places and experience different cultures first hand. I enjoyed it so much that I fly back to Thailand twice a year.

No longer work for that company :( but wish I find a job that will allow me to fly again, new places/old places, all expenses paid even in cattle class.

SC

Have you noticed the inconsistencies in SC awards - if I fly PER to europe (via SQ) without flight number change I get 200 SC, if I change flights at SQ I receive 260 sc.

Platinum, former SQ Gold who may revert to SQ because they have better connections to PER

For my first post....

Mainly work for me. Last year I did about 2500 or so QFF, about half that again SG. Partner Gold is a waste .. I'd prefer QFF allowed you to bank SCs. When you fly this much for this long, holidays are spent at home! The better half only ever flies on my points with me anyway, so why bother with the PG?

I'm lifetime silver and will probably be LG in a couple of years at current rates. Waiting for the Chairman's Club tap (if only QFF had an idea how much travel I book for other folks).

Off to the Macau hotel bar to have a beer with someone I've never even heard of before. Sigh.....

I joined QFF in about 1993 and up until 2000 was doing about 400 per year. In 2000 and early 2001 I did 3 J class trips to the NY. Since then I have travelled international J class every few months mainly to China. I achieved WP in 2002 with about 1900 SC. The following year was about 1500 and the last 2 years have been averaging 1100 but have been allowed to keep my WP status.
Most of my travel is international J class with a few K class domestic Syd - Mel or Syd - Cbr trips per year paid for by my employer. I do the occasional domestic red e-deal trip. The rest are done on points.
I can't imagine doing over 4000 SC in a year! My wife would definitely divorce me! :( :(
My travel is very adhoc. I can go 6 months without leaving the office and then be traveling every second week for a few months.

The partner gold status I've only thought of recently now that we have 2 kids. we had no problem accessing international lounges with one baby. With a toddler and a baby I'm not sure the lounges (especially partner lounges) would be so accommodating. And the older they get and as number 3 and possibly 4 come along, we may find it difficult to get us all into the lounges. That's a future challenge... :D

Four Days ago I had 1500 SC's expire. That's the most I have had.

I earned 680 of these between 1st October and 31st october thanks to some domestic travel and 6 DONE4 segments.

Have reached 2400 so far, with 1 week to go until reset, all on domestic travel and all in the last 7 months - needless to say, spending more time away than at home, although almost all of it has been business class.

Welcome to AFF, DTM. Quite a solid performance in 7 months and I'll bet you're not keen on travelling over Xmas.

You'll fit in quite nicely here

thanks for the welcome. happy to be here ! :D

fortunately, xmas is still looking like a no travel time, although I have two trips to perth over the next fortnight. the worst part about travelling there at this time of the year is the time difference - it's a real killer.

For people living in the right places, the time difference to Perth never changes 8) .

Qld sounds like the right place.

Anywhere else and PER sounds like a trip SYD-BKK, SYD-SIN.

Sorry about the time difference. Better to live in Sydney then no problem about tiem change.

Well I managed to scrape into Platinum last year... 1380 Status Credits - all personal and all economy. The reason I made Platinum with only 1380 Status Credits was I was having an arguement with QFF regarding earn on AY (that's another story!)... Anyway, got it in the end.

This is what flights I took last year with status credits. Mileage run on LA to AKL at the end!
