6 SCs away from LTG.

After your next flight will you switch to AAdvantage?

With 55 lots of 10 and 15 SCs (almost all 10) between June and December 2006 my hat goes off to those who (re)qualify in discount economy.

1,895 SC expired this year comprising of mostly domestic economy flights (often super saver fares) with the only international flights being:

MEL-LAX-DFW-CLT return in Y
MEL-LHR-BCN return in Y

Couldn't quite make it to partner gold :(

Am contemplating the switch to AAdvantage once I reach LTS (about 12 months time). Would have held off until I reached LTG but that looks to be too far into the future

I kept SG for four years purely on Discount WHY flights. E.g. In 2004 I had 77 flights, 65 paid for a total of 750 SC's.

I've done approx 60 flights since April this year. Mostly in discount economy. Only have around 750 SCs though, because some of them were on Virgin or non-JetFlex Jetstar.

2270 SC's in 2005/06, so retained WP achieved a couple of years earlier, largely on business travel domestically with some international in Y, and achieved PG for the first time. In 2005/06 it was some domestic business travel in Y, but largely from a personal DONE5.

QF year is 1 Sep-31 Aug.

So far in 2006/07: I left on a personal DONE5 on 6 Sept. and returned in October with 2030 SC's and around 100K points, so I now have 10 months to get 70 SC's to retain PG . Currently at 80% LTG.

I took PartnerJohnM to SFO on points for her first experience of J  for the first two sectors of my DONE5, then she came home independently in Y (no J redemptions available :() while I went the other way. So the PG in this case was very useful for her to get adjacent seat lock-out and QP access for a shower in SYD en route to PER.

In retrospect, I could have achieved a few more SC's and quite a few more points on the DONE5 following basically the same routing with a smarter choice of flight sectors and carriers (for points, only QF, BA & AA give the the double WP status bonus). Bottom line is that a well-crafted DONE4 or 5 will give enough SC's to go from NB to WP + PG in one go.

With a job change, I'll now have far less work flying. But with 6 weeks annual leave negotiated to compensate for long hours/weekends, my plan is a personal DONEx every year, building on experience to maximise the benefits and I should go LTG in two years :D.

Well the most I've ever done is 1460 last year however I should do about 1600 this year. Now that's not much compared to others except it is all dom travel with only two business flights (Mel-ADL & Mel-CBR).

Yes this is all cattle class travel. Not sure how many flights but a lot (MEL-SYD & MEL-CBR being the regulars). Checked my profile and for the first time since I joined QANTAS I have no booked flights after tonight (other than an award next year).

QANTAS might ring me to see if I'm all right!

Don't worry Coyote, they won't call. After I swung to AAdvantage for all my flights I instantly dropped from a 2500 SC per year customer to zero. QF doesn't seem to have noticed / cared.....
