How many SCs do you get in a year?

 I'm just a babe in the woods here. I'm sitting on 690 SCs and expiry is 30th of this month. Last year I got to approx 750, and a lot of that was from a RTW trip. Next year I expect to do about the same level of SCs.

I make 3 or 4 return trips a year to Asia (SIN, KUL, HKG) in J, and approx 2 domestic flights per month which are mainly SYD-MEL, SYD-BNE and usually one each year to PER, ADL, and TSV.

All travel is for work. I can decide the class of travel but the higher my branch's annual expenses the lower is my bonus, so I tend to follow our US head office's policy of flying economy for flights of up to 3 hours and business for anything longer.

When flying to PER or TSV, I will often fly out on the cheapest fare I can find and pay full J fare for the return. This ends up being not a lot more than paying full economy both ways, and given that the return leg is often after hours I feel that the company owes me a better class of travel! :D

If I was away any more than I am now, my family (Mrs YY and the 3 kids) would be unimpressed, and in any case I don't want to miss any more of them than I already do. :(

Lindsay...

Thanks for the welcome. It is actually my initials... Usually I use the username dugway, which has the code DPG, but somehow I think i managed to forget the password and email address that I used to register...

The only problem I see with you doing the cheapest fare (say you get a red e-deal) is that you can't get an ODU to J if there are available seats.

Currently have 170 with renewal at the end of November so I hope my calculations are correct.

I think that you just need 1230 points over the next 43 days which is less than 29 per day... Just 1 short flight in J is per say is all thats needed :)

Dave

Made it :!:

1400 with two days to spare. Almost cutting it too fine me thinks :!:

:D  :) :o

Congratulations on WP status.

After so much flying the past 6 weeks are you taking a break?

Congratulations and well done!

Did something similar last month ... with a twist. Imagine my consternation when 80SC's Business MEL-PER was not posting with only 3 days to go; would have left me 40 SC's short.

As it happens, I ended up with some welcome insurance with a late notice MEL-SYD-MEL; due to late notice obtained approval for a J flight as "only" $405 each way ; so I ended up with 1500 SC's expiring instead of 1440.

I have since been advised my WP status would have been recognised anyway once I had sent in the BP; even in early November

As an update my original post - finished the year on 4,765 SCs so didn't make the magic 5000 in the end and am quite happy about it.

Nah - I'm new to this FFing (although acknowledge am off with a bang) with a bit over a year in a new job. The reason I started this post was to get a feel for how ridiculous everyone elses travelling was.

Lifetime SCs is only 6735 so not yet Lifetime Silver.

only a couple more years and you'll be at lifetime gold, perhaps even quicker given the changes to SC earning in May?

And to think it took me 14 years to get to LT Gold (not that they had SCs for the first few years :P ).

I think the question should be rephrased..

"how many SC dod you NEED in a year?"

I only NEEDED 650 to have my PLATS status retained.

JK, You may remember me as "that guy who kept on getting
upgraded to First Class to Bangkok", whilst you were snug in your
seat in the tail section.

Don't be a stranger, give me call!

Quite true master. I still have the souvenir pyjamas you got for me on last trip.

You travel first class and I travel cattle class, then 2.5 hour "limo" trip to rayong getting there at 3:00am and we are both up at 7:00am working 20 hours the next day. Sounds fair to me. :P

By the way they dumped me for all the hard work I put in for them.

You requalified WP with just 650 SC's.

One more quick internal trip next week after which walking and driving sounds good for a while. :D

I can't even contemplate 4765 SC in one year.

Four Days ago I had 1500 SC's expire. That's the most I have had.

I earned 680 of these between 1st October and 31st october thanks to some domestic travel and 6 DONE4 segments.
I hadn't been game to look until now but I just checked my QF activity and there it was:
Code:
31 OCT 06 EXPIRED STATUS CREDITS - - - 0 -2,555
           31OCT06
(I still reckon expire is too harsh a word; how about reset mr Qantas?)

Interestingly enough I looked at mrs serfty's data and saw the following:
Code:
31 OCT 06 EXPIRED STATUS CREDITS - - - 0 -90
           31OCT06
.
.

30 APR 06 EXPIRED STATUS CREDITS - - - 0 -60
           30APR06
So it looks like her QF PG status is fully aligned with me as the sponsoring QF WP.

That's a lot. You're progressing well towards LTG serfty.

My next anniversary will see a big expiry. The last 6 weeks alone are nearly 3000 SCs.

A late post for this thread, but last year (Sep 05 - Sep 06), I managed just over 780 (all economy flights) and hit 'Gold' status. :D

Not much to boast about against the likes of others around here, but I thought it was worth a few cold ones, considering that I only started flying in late 2004, and was, at that time, pretty scared shirtless about getting on board them thar big metal birds!

I'm not completely over the 'fear' but I now always travel with a copy of my latest activity statement, showing just how many flights I've taken, and proving that they really don't fall out of the sky that often!

I had 370 status credits last year.
Interesting to look back to last year and realise just how much I have been corrupted by AFF!

Had 750 SC's expire May 06 and have earned another 525 SC's since. Total SC's for 2006 calendar year is 1190 SC's.

And my latest entry is:

Code:
31 OCT 06 EXPIRED STATUS CREDITS - - - 0 -1,160
           31OCT06

More than 5,000 last FF year, nearly all discount economy with the odd biz class & one first class.

Just under 1200 after 2 months this membership year and 6 SCs away from LTG.
