How to book Velocity Amex free flight?

Why the hell is this site not working. Trying to book complimentary flights and once I select the flights it boots me back to the main Virgin Australia page.....

I just keep trying and it eventually seems to work. I've been doing that all morning and it seems to be working now.

I ended up having to use a different browser and clear the cache and cookies etc for it to finally load.

It books as a return flight where you don't pay anything, rather than a credit. You can only book for the one person and you can't seem to book on behalf of others (it failed for me in the past when even trying to change the passenger name). No points or status credits on any of the flights I've used, because the flight seems to be ticketed in a certain way. (The old ANZ free return flight used to be a great little earner, though!)

I just kept trying with some combination of refreshing and going back and trying again, for pretty much every step. This was in an incognito window, in case that makes a difference. Eventually got to the end. May also need to use an email address with no "." in it.

It's appallingly bad.

Also, back in the day it seemed generous in the flight selections, fares quite a bit higher than the cheapest were eligible. Now the allowed fare buckets seem to be confined to the lower end, making it harder to use. That's assuming the website reflects the true availability, not sure.

absolute debarcle of a process -- nothing but issues for the past week, specifically incorrect URL re-direction and then when it finally loads, the "no airports" msg

It's super-easy to just ring the number, and they book it for you fee-free if you say the website does not work. Takes 60 seconds if you know your dates/times. DO NOT perservere with the website!

Yep. Generally not an issue. The ticket is issued and that's the end of the transaction.

I have experience of already having cancelled the card then realising that I hadn't booked the flight and still being able to do it online.

After trying unsuccessfully to use the compflight.virginaustralia.com website intermittently over the past few weeks, I finally got it to work tonight to book a simple MEL-SYD-MEL weekend trip at the end of June. Previously the site was crashing just trying to look up origin and destination locations.

My first attempt tonight on safari (desktop) crashed when entering dates. Second attempt on Firefox wouldn't load at all. I eventually got it to work on Chrome after pausing all ad blockers and clearing cookies. Flakey site but we got there in the end. I also managed to secure an immediate upgrade on one leg for 10,000 points and put in a bid now $ upgrade for the other. I wasn't sure whether the fare class would be eligible for points upgrades or not seeing as it doesn't earn points or SCs.

Next to cancel the Amex card and churn elsewhere

I'm trying to redeem my complimentary flight departing from Melbourne. The map tells me that the following destinations are possible:



However when I try to book on the compflight.virginaustralia.com website, I only get to select the following options as the destination city (after selecting MEL as the departure city):



This is the case for me on multiple devices. Does anyone know how to fix this? Do I need to call (and if so, who do I call)?
